If you are looking to furnish an empty space, stop what you're doing and at least set up a call…read morewith the Splendid & Swanky team. For background, I have no interest in interior design and have no business spending real money on furniture I know nothing about. But I found myself in a situation where I had nothing for a space that had to be smartly utilized. And I wanted it to be beautiful. Was this really the time to experiment with Pinterest while spending thousands of dollars? & I needed the furniture to last long enough that I wouldn't have to think about this again for a very, very long time. I also needed to buy everything during a pandemic, when everything was delayed... So I turned to an option I never had considered before - hiring interior designers. I had heard great things about this team and wanted to explore sourcing this huge project out to them. It's a pretty simple process. You go to their website and fill out an intake form that introduces yourself and the project. Then they'll sell up a virtual call to meet and discuss your style, and budget. Then they came and looked at the space, took measurements. Then they pitched a proposal. From there you have to make some decisions. They are going to present you with options that may be outside of your budget. This is where we gotta grow up a little and recognize that if you want nice things, this is how much that actually cost. I was happy to increase my original proposed budget to get what I needed. But there were some peices that I wanted to spend less on and they quickly came back with lower priced options. They were very adaptable there. With that, they placed the order! Over the course of the next few months, the furniture started arriving. They work with a contractor who you can hire (through them, they handle all the admin work) who can assemble, hang, etc do all that work for you. They even came over to make sure everything was hung in the right spots. There is a science and art to design that they are factoring into every decision for your space, and it's worth their fee to get all your nice new furniture all in the right place. They look for beauty and functionality in every detail of the space. So now I have this gorgeous dining room [photo provided]. Our guests are blown away whenever they walk even towards the space. It's exactly what I wanted when I described the target ambiance to the team. Beautiful, relaxed, warm, stylish. I can't tell you how happy I am with my experience with Splendid & Swanky and the confidence it brought me about my home. If you're able to, whenever you're able to, hire professionals to do things you can't do well. It'll always be worth it. Here is the proof.

They were running a terrific promotion and Katie Ogden, my salesperson, was unbelievably helpful. patient and accommodating. The furniture was delivered and the truck crew was also great and used some real ingenuity getting some larger pieces into my small DC rowhouse. The furniture itself is advertised to be in "showroom condition" but it's anything but that, Most pieces definitely looked like used furniture and the dining room table had been very amateurishly "refinished" (i.e., painted) by their warehouse staff. To their credit, they give you 2 weeks to swap out pieces but for me, I was up against a deadline and they didn't have replacements for some pieces. So what's the problem? They overcharged me by over $500. After an exchange of emails, they finally acknowledged the overcharge but 2 months later and I still haven't gotten my refund. In addition, when they picked up the furniture they forgot a couple of wall pictures so they sent a truck to pick them up. The problem is they can't find them so charged me for them... twice! Bottom line... I found their sales and delivery staff top notch. Their accounting staff, on the other hand, is horrid and unresponsive. My advice is to stay away.

Probably the best thing you can say about our original furniture is that it was eclectic. More truthfully, it simply didn't really look that great, pretty much a "before" project on what you'd see on HGTV. Once Vanessa and Michelle got through with it, the interior of the house was totally transformed. The first step was Vanessa came through the house with her contractor, Arlin, and recommended changes to be made, including updating ceiling fans, light fixtures, installing recessed lights, etc. We didn't do everything she recommended but we did most. Vanessa coordinated all of the contracting work done by Arlin and his team, and provided all the quotes. The prices for the various jobs were very competitive, generally cheaper than other estimates I received from other contractors. The bottom line is that the results speak for themselves. We received multiple offers and sold the house for $110K over list within 5 days for the highest price ever sold in our neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for much more than that. Attached are a few pics of the finished product. I definitely recommend using Inspired Home Design for updating and staging your home. I'm sure glad I did.

Parker Staging - Pinnacle Modern Classic Staging www.parkerinteriorsdc.com

    Parker Staging

Very unorganized and fail to follow instruction…read more I was referred to Tiffany by my realtor, she first came out to inspect my property and discuss what type of staging it would need. For the most part, she said she'd use most my belongings and bring in a few decorative pieces, a desk and a chair. I was quoted $1200 for the work and decided to buy a desk and chair myself. Later on, my realtor kept pushing for this company to stage my home (that should have raised a flag) and kept telling me that my home would not sell without their full service (aka staging the entire condo). I'm not sure what kind of business my realtor and Parker were in, but I never felt more pressured to use someone's service. I agreed and contracted full staging in a vacant property, paid movers to move my things into storage and hoped this would help sell my home. I asked for a bed in my 2nd room, but instead they staged an office. Several areas of the home were left bare, no headboards, little to no accessories. And I paid $1750 out of pocket (another sign their prices are off if they had quoted me $1200 for less in the beginning). I was not happy. But that isn't why they got the 1 star review, their mistakes pushed my listing back 2 entire weeks since I had to work on their schedule even though the mistakes were on them. After the second time they came to fix their staging, it was STILL was unfinished so I chose to ask for a refund and shop for a new stager and realtor. They refunded me my money minus $450 moving costs, which I think is truly unfair, but accepted the loss. The excuse was that it was basically my realtor'a failure to communicate, that they thought the home would have my items, etc. Even though we had a contractual agreement for full staging in a vacant home. On top of everything. I would never get a heads up on their stagers coming by when they were swapping out items, etc. My alarm would go off every time and I'd get calls from neighbors, and security who were afraid my place was getting broken into. Just unprofessional. The style is outdated, most of the items were in very poor condition. Especially the rugs, towels, and bedding. Just not good quality overall.

I have been working exclusively with Nichelle Turner of Parker Interiors since 2015. She has been awesome. I trust her decisions implicitly. The pricing she gives me is fair. The benefits of her work far outweigh the cost. She comes to preview the space unsupervised. She installs the furniture and transforms all of my homes. They come by to retrieve the furniture and items at the end of the contract term. It couldn't get any easier and better. My pictures come out wonderful and then the house sells itself. I recently netted 10% over my original projected resale asking price on my property. And received four over asking price offers. Thank you Nichelle!

Next is the service The 24 hour service is a joke, and apparently a non working faucet in the bathroom is not an "emergency" for them. Cons: The inventory that they show as available on their website isn't accurate. It took some creativity, but I was finally able to get some pieces for my home, even though they weren't all from the same set. If you communicate with them and let them know what you're looking for, they're really helpful in letting you know what's available that fits what you're looking for.
