Horrible! We've been there a couple times. Never got out order right. It's been ... geez ... a couple years since we've been back. Today, husband was in town and called to see if he should bring burgers home. We decided to try BlackMeg 43 again. Guess what? The order was completely wrong. Completely. We did t order cheeseburgers, YET we got cheeseburgers. Not only that, their burgers are STILL wayyyyy too greasy. I don't know what they did to their onion rings. It was a very greasy pile of goop. Not onion rings at all. I called to complain. Manager said he was "sorry" and "would address this immediately." Thanks. This should have been addressed YEARS ago! Get the orders right! He also proudly stated they slice & bread their own onion rings. Maybe they need to stop doing their own onion rings or actually learn to make them properly. I threw it in the trash. Mushroom Swiss, slider, redneck burgers! They were all very delicious, my only complaint was that I wish I had more mushrooms on my burger but it's just because I love mushrooms! But no, not me, I had to try something different. I was trying to decide between 2 specialty burgers when she said let me fix you both as half burgers. I said great idea. When it came out, I had two baskets of ala carte ingredients ready for me to assemble. Cold. This visit to Black Megs was disappointing. We arrived around 4:30 pm. I ordered the $10 Bacon Cheddar combo which came with fries and a drink. My son ordered the $10 patty melt combo with fries. We also ordered a $4 side of fried pickles to share. We paid $24 for the meal and headed to the fountain to get our drinks. The right fountain dispenses ice, but the soda dispensers don't work. I got Mountain Dew out of the left machine and my son chose root beer. The root beer was out, so we notified an employee who offered us two cans of root beer. He handed my son one and tried to hand me the other. I advised that I had chosen Mountain Dew, but my son could use the other can of root beer for his refill. The man refused to give us the second can saying that he didn't know if he was allowed to give us two. Go figure... Finding a clean table was a challenge. Some had food crumbs on them while most had a white residue which was either dust or lint from the wash rag. The tables are shiny black and highly reflective, so any dirt easily shows up. Once we found a semi-clean table I had to look to find a clean chair as the chair at my seat had sesame seeds stuck to it the would not come off as I tapped the chair on the floor. Our food was ready pretty quickly. My son brought the trays to our table. The first thing I noticed was that the fried pickles were overdone. They were too dark and the edges looked burned. We each tried one and they were way too dry. Both of out burgers were enjoyable and I enjoyed my fries. My son did not like the fries because he said they tasted like they came frozen from a box. I mentioned that most fast food restaurants use frozen fries, but he expected fresh cut since he thought that Black Megs was a gourmet hamburger restaurant, not fast food. It should be noted that when I brought the overcooked fried pickles back, they promptly refunded my $4 and apologized. If I am ever by the Black Megs on Ranier, I may give them a try, but I am going to let this one in Cove go. read more

I dinned in at Black Meg 43 and I wasn't to impressed. Yes, the burger I had was good, but man it is really uncomfortably humid/hot in the restaurant (which really drained the experience for me). It just felt gross and sticky in there, which made it hard to focus on the meal itself. The prices here are kind of decent? Not to much, but not cheap either. The customer service is average (not rude, but not to friendly). Black Meg 43 really was just a three star experience for me. The burger alone really saved this review from a two star. It was big, juicy, and filling. If you're hungry for a burger give them a try, they do have a unique taste (in a good way). However I highly suggest you go through the drive through and stay in your own car's air conditioning. read more

Six years in the area and I love this place. When we move, this will be the only food joint I miss. So before I leave the area I need to do a review. The burgers are AMAZING. Recently they've overhauled their menu and changed a lot of the names. (No more mushroom and swiss? No more Diablo?!) So, the last time we went it was a bit confusing at first but I'm pretty sure it was the owner working the counter and he helped my wife and I get through it. Even if he did kind of talk our ears off. He was a really nice guy so no big deal. Fries were seasoned perfectly as always. They were out of cactus jam which was a little disappointing so I ordered the Cowboy instead, an old favorite before I discovered the joy of the flaming hot Diablo. And I asked if he could spice it up for me so he brought out a sliced up habanero (yes habanero, not the classically overplayed jalapeño) with my meal. Perfect. Still the best burger I've ever had, bar none. A little messy but I like a messy burger anyway. Wait times are short, prices are right (about 8$ per adult meal), the staff is friendly, and the burgers are no kidding the best I've ever had. Better than Five Guys. When people come visit, this is the place I insist they eat at before they go and everyone I've brought agreed that these are the best burgers they've had. I recommend the Cowboy. It's amazing. If you want it spicy just ask and they'll find a way. Have I mentioned how amazing the burgers are?! I have to note though that the location in Killeen is not as good as this one. Designed for only meat eaters. Cleanliness a 2 or less. With they had some non meat options for vegetarians so I could sit down with my meat eater friends. We never go there as team because even Burger King has a bad a** vegetarian whopper. Called the impossible whopper. Try it and I am sure you can't tell the difference. Sometimes it takes a while for the food to be ready, but you can definitely tell everything is fresh. I'm very VERY picky about my fries and they have some bomb fries here. First time trying this place, I've been meaning to stop by for a long time now. I ordered the Black Meg burger with avocado, a fried egg and bacon. I had Jalapeno Poppers and a Strawberry Shake from the drive thru. The wait wasn't long and everything was at the right temperature. The burger was great haven't had such a good, perfectly cooked burger in a long time. It was juicy and I was exactly what I expected. The poppers and shake were decent. Nothing to write home about. The fries however were a little disappointing. Not very flavorful and unevenly seasoned. The service was great and the employees were friendly. Overall I had a great experience. I would rate higher if the sides were a bit better. I will definitely come back to try some different burgers. read more

You can have the best food and cleanest facility out there BUT I will always base my opinion of a place to give my business to, on how employees are treated. With that being said to the old dude that was cooking on 06/15/2022 at around 6:25 to 7:18 when I got there & left, the way you talked to those two young men that were nothing but helpful, understanding, patient & attentive was disgusting.. I was in total shock that I had to sit there and hear you all the way from the kitchen to my table where my family and I were sitting you getting annoyed, irritated & even loud ( not yelling but LOUD) at your fellow staff members as far as I'm concerned you're how old working with two teenaged looking boys ? Yeah do better, I don't care if you thought you were doing it all OR how bad your knee hurt. Your attitude left a bad taste in my mouth AND to the other family that had to leave before even finishing their ice cream. And the fact that I even heard you get irritated about customers that weren't even there to defend themselves bc they were in the drive through waiting for food over and about some toasted buns you were all mouth and attitude about it until the dude actually came in and then you threw up your hands and said "fine I'll do it" to the two young dudes I think y'all did great I'm not really sure about the behind the scenes but I heard more than enough with the amount of time I spent there and I witnessed too much for comfort and for just being a customer.. if you messed up so be it but don't let that dude talk down and stupid to you.. remember there's always something Bette rout there and RUDENESS IS THE WEAK PERSONS IMITATION OF STRENGTH. Came on a Sunday around 2:30 not knowing they close at 3:00. Which I'm hoping explains why the food was precooked. According to the other reviews and the banner inside the restaurant, this is the "best burger" you can find in the area. Sadly, I've experienced a "better burger" at Sonic. Bacon Cheeseburger- everything was cold. The bun was cold, the burger patty wasn't hot or juicy at all. The cheese didnt melt and the bacon wasnt crispy. It was seasoned well and I could tell at one point had potential but just left me unsatisfied. The patty was thick and the quality of the cheese was good, but the burger as a whole was a complete let down. The Cowboy burger was "eh". Had a homemade flavor which was appreciated, but nothing spectacular. Again cold bun, thick patty that was sitting out for who knows how long. Void of any warmth or moisture. BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion.....tomatoes were small, like little roma tomatoes on a burger. The onion rings had good flavor but weren't hot or crispy at all. The fries were very well seasoned, a little crispy but as the rest of our meal......not hot. Chocolate milkshake just tasted like melted chocolate ice cream. The interior is reflective of the mediocre food. Paint chipped chairs falling apart coupling what look like second hand diner tables from the 1980's. The place was moderately clean so I will give it that. A group of bikers came into the parking lot 2 minutes before closing time. The girl at the register was whining that they should tell them they're closed so she could go home. They were given a friendly warning by another employee that they were about to close so the group came in and ordered quickly. Their food came out almost as fast as it was ordered as well....Wonder what they thought of their cold burgers? This place is slow enough to be able to cook EVERYTHING to order. Maybe they are under new management? Or something? This is not the same Black Meg I know from when I moved here 2 years ago. The first thing I noticed was that it was 530 on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was DEAD. Not a soul in there except employees. Usually it's packed!! I pull into the drive thru and the gentlemen who took my order was very nice, and I received my order quickly. No complaints there. Unfortunately I got home and opened up my burger to find that the bacon cheeseburger I had ordered had no bacon OR cheese. So I made the trip back to Black Meg where it was promptly fixed. No complaints with the service there either. I got home and finally got to eat but it just didn't have the same "wow" factor that I'm used to a Black Meg's burger having. It just tasted like your everyday average burger. Then I opened up my tots and I don't know if they became soft from being in the warming bag so long, or if they were never cooked long enough to begin with, but I couldn't even pick them up without falling apart. Overall I'm disappointed in what's happened to one of my favorite burger places in the area. I may have to drive to Heights and try that location because I'm pretty sure I'm not going back to the Cove one. read more
