Smaller plants are both good and bad, depending on your needs. There are also a lot of great smaller flowers here for patio pots to add plenty of color! I found the edible plants for a vegetable garden to be much more extensive than Moon Valley Nurseries. So I guess it depends on what you're after exactly. I like that they sell a wider variety of fig plants, and was interested in one of them, but the two plants available didn't look the healthiest. I'm not sure I want to take the gamble on a fig tree that may or may not make it. The healthiest looking plants they had were their citrus trees, again plenty of variety. Still checking out nearby places before making any decisions.

I found the layout of the whole nursery very confusing and disorganized. I looked around a bit, but found a lot of the fruit trees weren't looking their best with a few half dead ones or odd shaped ones. I was looking for a desert milkweed and they had one hidden behind some other stuff. It was a single sprig hanging out of a pot. I gave up and left to continue my journey elsewhere.

In the greater Phoenix metro, many nurseries are no longer independent operators, but North Scottsdale Nursery and Cactus remains an old-school place. You'll see giant saguaros for sale along with rows of ocotillo which they keep planted in the ground and not bare root (and probably dead), like you'll find at Home Depot and Lowe's. If you buy one here you can at least tell if it is alive and has leaves or not -- although for a plant that looks hardy, ocotillos are notoriously hard to transplant and at least 2/3 of them do not survive. You have to plant them then wait a year and try again until you get lucky or run out of patience. They will optionally deliver and put your plants in the ground for you for a flat rate of $200 if you are within delivery range.

I bought a tipu from there at the same time as another nursery (more expensive) and the Richard's tipu significantly outperformed!! I bought it two years ago and it's a HUGE tree now. Just the other day I received a call back as my Hong Kong orchid had all the leaves fall off, very patient/good advice (most importantly gave hope it's not gone). I reached out and they were super quick and friendly in getting back to me. They emailed me photos of a number of pieces of wall art ranging from triptychs to very large pieces. Ultimately I settled on a piece that fit both the wall and my price range. They communicated to me through the entire process and delivered it to my office. They even helped with the hanging. We ordered this fountain 21 Oct 2025 and it was finally delivered and installed 12 Jan 2026. Yes,…read morethat is 73 days! Here was our nightmare. After ordering we were told by Jennifer that they would be placing a batched order with Henri Studios from CA next week. Ok no problem. She also explained that it would take 4-6 weeks to get it in. We were fine with that too. In the meantime, we had our entire courtyard redone. On 2 Dec I called and left a message with Jennifer to find out when the fountain would be in. No call back. So I called again on the 3rd and spoke to Sophrona. She said the fountain never got ordered! We were so upset. She said that Henri Studio the manufacturer told her they could get in here in 3 weeks, (that was a lie from Henri Studios). Sophrona said they would give us free delivery and install because it was their fault on not ordering it. That helped easy some of our disappointment. Thank you Sophrona! Back to Henri Studios saying they would have it in 3 weeks was a joke. Three weeks would have been 23 Dec. You know nothing gets done during the holidays and this was true for the fountain. Cory came out to adjust the fountain since it was splashing so far out onto the travertine. The guys that installed it turned the flow volume the wrong direction for more water not less. Cory figured this out instantly. He also put a clamp on the hose to restrict the amount of water being pumped up to the waterfall. It all works a lot better now. Thank you Cory! We really appreciate the after-install customer service! If you order from them, make sure that your order gets submitted when they say the order is being placed. We love the fountain it just took way too long to get!
