Staff at Moon Valley Nurseries are very well informed. The nursery focuses on large greenery for the garden and yard. If you choose something large, they will come and plant it for a charge. That's especially nice if the plant is heavy and big. We had some questions on a specific tree in our yard. We talked with staff about our issue. They were happy to talk with us about this. If you're looking for large trees and plants, this is the place. Parking right outside the building.

Our backyard has a lime tree, lemon tree, grapefruit tree, and today we are proud to add a peach tree and a tangelo orange tree

We have now lived in the greater Phoenix area for six years and have been a steady customer of Moon Valley on Tatum. I cannot say enough about their sales team, their install crew especially Brandon today, and the quality of the product that we purchased from them, which they always stand behind. Neighbors told us they were expensive and even though they may be a bit more than some other nurseries, their level of service is a 15!

Newly planted giant Red Push Pistache tree by Moon Valley Nurseries

Outstanding service from Moon Valley Nurseries. I'm pleased beyond words. Brandon Vasquez Jimenez and his team planted my new 36-gallon Red Push Pistache tree today. He communicated with me during every step of the process, including verifying tree placement location and "uprightness". The team's attention to detail in protecting my relatively new hardscaping, surrounding ground plants and outdoor furniture was wonderful to observe, without me even needing to say anything. Once the tree was planted, top finished and deeply watered, Brandon reviewed all the post-planting details again with me. The crew cleaned up after they were done, leaving the area cleaner than it may have been when they arrived! I'm super happy with the team's work and my new tree looks amazing in its new home. Thank you to Brandon and the entire Moon Valley team :)

We've bought two trees and several cacti from Moon Valley over the past couple of years -- and they've earned our complete trust. Prices might be a bit higher than elsewhere, but the quality, selection, and service make it more than worth it. The Tatum location is beautiful and inspiring just to walk through. Today's delivery crew, led by Joey DeSilva, was outstanding -- friendly, professional, and made sure I knew exactly how to care for our new Southern Live Oak. They really treat customers right. We'll be back for another tree soon!

Our New Navel Orange. About 15 years old and already bearing fruit.

Andy was so very knowledgeable and able to provide us answers so that we could make the decisions we needed to make on a citrus tree best for us. Then the crews that came out to dig the hole and then plant it were extremely professional and reminded us on how to care for the tree in the immediate as well as the future. Love this place.

We had a great experience. Visited the 7th St location on March 26, and Leon guided us through finding what we were looking for. In pots, cacti, fruit trees, and a feature tree. Pretty big job, with 5,trees and 2 potted cacti. Leon was knowledgeable, personable, and courteous. After the sale, he came out for location staking on April 8.On April 13, Eric brought a crew of 3 for the planting. All went smooth, and Eric was also very personable, professional, and knew his product. Gave me good advice in care and maintenance. 10/10 would recommend.

Not only do we go to them during the holidays but rely on them throughout the year when we need additional plants and trees for our backyard. We first started using Whitfill back in the early 2000's when they were on 40th street south of Roeser. We literally lived across the street from their nursery and when they moved to their current spot on Southern we followed! We have decades of photos with our boys standing next to the tree they choose for Christmas and the tradition continues now with our Sphynx cats! They used to have a peacock walking around but unfortunately he is no longer there. They are pet friendly and we are comfortable taking our cats there in the stroller. Not only are their prices and tree selections the best in town but their customer service and knowledge of anything tree related is vast! They know what they are doing and don't try to upsell or get you to buy unnecessary items. They are the real deal!

I shouldn't need to walk all the way back up front to ask -- and I've been giving the wrong information before anyhow. Its important to know what kind of plant you're buying for multiple reasons. The other Whitfill location (off Guadalupe and Cooper) doesn't have this issue. Overall I think the plants are pretty healthy but after having an issue with lack of labeling (on both the kind of plant and pricing), having been given the wrong plant info on a plant, and after having asked if they had Pink Fairy Duster and being sent off in a direction to wander and never find it on my own, I'm really over this location.

I found the layout of the whole nursery very confusing and disorganized. I looked around a bit, but found a lot of the fruit trees weren't looking their best with a few half dead ones or odd shaped ones. I was looking for a desert milkweed and they had one hidden behind some other stuff. It was a single sprig hanging out of a pot. I gave up and left to continue my journey elsewhere.

In the greater Phoenix metro, many nurseries are no longer independent operators, but North Scottsdale Nursery and Cactus remains an old-school place. You'll see giant saguaros for sale along with rows of ocotillo which they keep planted in the ground and not bare root (and probably dead), like you'll find at Home Depot and Lowe's. If you buy one here you can at least tell if it is alive and has leaves or not -- although for a plant that looks hardy, ocotillos are notoriously hard to transplant and at least 2/3 of them do not survive. You have to plant them then wait a year and try again until you get lucky or run out of patience. They will optionally deliver and put your plants in the ground for you for a flat rate of $200 if you are within delivery range.
