Another Exceptional Haircut!…read more SITREP Every time I walk down to the Saturday Midtown Farmers Market, I LOVE to stroll down J Street (usually a descending-trek from 26th down to 20th Streets, passing many many of my favorite businesses - Thai Noodle, Jungle Bird, Chicago Pizza, etc. etc. - including Take Care Barbershop! Here is where the stylist-barbers Bethany, Dean, Ethan, and Jules work wonders on my hair, and I'll always stick my head into the shop just to say "Howdy!" even if I'm not getting a cut that day. THE SETUP This establishment first landed on my radar because Dean was a stylist at Bottle & Barlow in the WAL Art complex down by 12th & R Streets. Dean then moved on to manage their offshoot operation Take Care up at 24th & J Streets (mere blocks from where I live now). A good thing too, since the barber operation down at Bottle & Barlow is now out of business. Dean has since introduced me to all of us talented colleagues Bethany, Ethan & Jules and in the last few years I've been privileged to have been submitted to the SCISSORS & RAZORS of each and every one of them! HAIRCUT TODAY! On THIS auspicious Farmers Market Day, I HAD been just focused on getting down there to get my array of colored peppers. So I stick my head into Take Care and do my "Howdy!" But something was different. I noticed that - ineplainably - Dean's chair was empty! (queue *surprised ground hog music*). "Dean!", i says. "What's with the empty chair?!?" "Dude canceled!" "No way!"
