The beach area is enclosed into a square, guarded by at least three lifeguards. There are plenty of parking spaces, a food concession and restrooms in the main building and plenty of restrooms and showers behind this front building. The weather cooperated and it was perfect. ​

As we visited on a holiday it was very busy, but we arrived early and had no trouble finding parking. The park had staff on hand to direct traffic and assist in finding a spot.

A nice walk on the pier out to the lighthouse though an awful lot of small flying insects. Of course, the lighthouse is accessible from here too. These two lighthouses protect Sodus Bay, the largest natural harbor on Lake Ontario. This light was first established in 1858, the new lighthouse was replaced in 1938 with this 51 foot tall structure. The view over Lake Ontario is fabulous, especially this early in the morning. This is challenging because of the small size and limited sites. I try at least six months in advance for a water site. The water sites are hard to get. I will stay at any of them they are all wonderful. The lake is very refreshing and the beach is fun. There is a huge rock in the middle of the lake that my family takes pictures at. It is quit a wonderful view. I love coming here to camp. All the campers are always friendly and polite. I have talked with many and they all think this campground is a hidden gem.

Absolutely gorgeous little spot for a mini vacation!…read more My boyfriend and I came here for a getaway from the busy non stop Long Island. It's so pretty snd relaxing! From the beach, mini amusement park, restaurants, little shops...it's nice to get away! We really enjoyed our time here spending time on the beach and having some good eats. Lots of good restaurants in the area that we didn't even have time to try them all. Just be mindful that a lot of restaurants are only open for the summer season and they close around the first week in October. Definitely a great mini getaway spot!

This place is not dog friendly. Yes you can take your dog to the small park in the center of town…read morebut the beach area as far as you can see has no dogs allowed signs. This place despite the improvements is so backwards. People like to enjoy taking thier digs on vacation and swimming and walking the beach. They could at least designate a small area to dog beach.I have lived in this area most of my life and their is a saying "the beach is the beach". The backwards mentality has been here a long time.
