His large boat is extremely comfortable and takes around six people, I cannot think of a better way to spend a couple of hours, in the luxury of a beautiful boat enjoying the magnificent waters of the East End. My friend and I booked the charter for a two hour trip, Captain John was very accommodating and took us at the last minute, and it was the highlight of our stay on Shelter Island. I highly recommend booking Tubby's charters, you won't be sorry! We are already planning a repeat trip with a group of friends as soon as Captain John has space to take us as he is very fully booked as many people go back for return trips year after year. The cruise had 3 offerings of their specialty wines, a nice red, white and sparkling wine along with all you can each shrimp and freshly shucked oysters. If you couldn't consume shellfish, they offered a charcuterie box from Mamma Lombardis. Pretty nice offerings Bedell! Parking was easy peasy, the train station lot had plenty of available parking. Once we boarded, we each grabbed a wine glass and headed to the upper deck. My wife, looking so elegant in her summer dress, it was just a perfect night for a romantic cruise on Long Island. You don't have to call me late for dinner, I saw the crew carrying the oyster aft (that's the back of the boat for you non sailing Yelpers) I grabbed a plate and loaded up with a nice amount of shrimp with cocktail sauce as well as oysters. Ever try sail while trying to keep cocktail sauce off my white silk Tommy Bahama shirt? I did it because I have mad skill. I noticed the couple next to me, I made small talk with the guy. This woman, she must of eaten 2 dozen oysters! And I dig that! Enjoy yourself, don't hold back. I had about 6 oysters, a good amount of shrimp and a quite a few glasses of Bedell wines. The captain of the boat did something very cool. He brought the ship very close to lighthouse for a perfect picture spot. Could this night get any better? Here's where and I hope Bedell reads this review. You have the perfect opportunity to talk to all the guests and sell your winery! There should of been bottles of the wine we tasted for sale as well as baskets filled with wines & cheeses, raffles to come back to the vineyard for a tasting, shirts, glasses, Bedell things for sale. It sounds like you need me to take over this area of responsibility. ABC, always be closing. Wine is for closers! The guy pouring the wine was swamped with everyone at once saying: Gimme! A back up sales person, a closer would have sealed the deal. Other than that, if you see The Peconic Star offering sunset cruises, it's something I highly recommend.

He was friendly, knowledgeable, and we felt comfortable being really annoying and weird in front of him. The sail itself was just a short ride in the bay, where we anchored close to a beach. We loved dancing on the boat, trying out the SUP board (included), basically chugging our BYOB drinks (no hard liquor allowed on board), taking pics lounging in the net, gawking at the yachts, and pretending the pool noodles were seahorses that we were riding. Bachelorette stuff! I think we had the Mon Mini boat, probably the smallest option. Included: one SUP board, bluetooth speaker, cooler, two pool noodles, the captain.

He helped my cousins learn how to operate a Jet Ski properly and he was incredibly helpful out on the water as well. Despite the chill and the howling wind, I was able to get quite close to the lighthouse and enjoy the view of Plum Gut. This is the very tip of the northern fork at the very end of Long Island. There are no amenities here. It's a beach park without toilets or shelters. Probably great for fishing. On a warmer and sunnier and less rainy day, this would be a fabulous park. The boat was immaculate, and had plenty of room for us to lounge, drink, and dance. The sound system was amazing. The sail was beautiful. And most importantly, I cannot say enough about our captain JR. He was friendly, fun, and did everything in his power to make sure we had a blast. (Side recommendation- we added on a few hours of a jet ski to our sail and it was worth it!). I 100% recommend. It was worth every penny and was a day we will never forget.
