Black Rock Retreat (BRR) is a Christian retreat that offers meeting and activity space for groups. I attended a Women's retreat there and was impressed by the facilities, meeting rooms, staff, and grounds. Good parking. The place is HUGE, with many outdoor activities. Rooms are bare bones, but clean and have the basics. They do a good job with the food, although walking through the gym to get in the dining space (a crowd management feature) is bizarre. Bathrooms for first floor meeting space is limited. Lots of outdoor space for communing with nature. This is a retreat space, so rooms have no TVs! Awful experience for my child with an allergy. Do NOT send your child if they have an allergy! They did a HORRIBLE job. Unresponsive to emails and phone calls leading up to the retreat. They knew about allergy WELL in advanced but didn't provide allergy free food for my child during the retreat. When my child asked what they were able to eat due to their allergy, a staff member responded with "what does that mean". My child's health was put in danger by attending this facility. I would give a zero if possible. read more

This place is listed as a religious organization? Well ok. We came here for my friend's birthday. It was a surprise from his wife who wanted to take him to do archery outdoors and apparently, this is the closest place to NYC where you can do that. Wow. I guess that's not that crazy considering how much space is needed to be able to have people do outdoor archery. This place is GIGANTIC though! You can pretty much do any sort of outdoors thing you want here! It's great. But we came here for the archery. And archery we did! First of all I've done archery before, at the Queens Archery place way out in the middle of nowhere Queens. This place is obviously much further away but it's just as fun. Maybe even more so. I didn't think everyone would take to it as well as they did as quickly as they did, but that just made it more fun. The best part about our session, was that it was probably like almost two hours (well I'm not sure, but definitely more than an hour) and for the 8 of us, it was $8 a person to book do the beginners course. $8 per person! outstanding! They have like ropes courses and horses here you can ride and I'm learning that it's some sort of summer camp as well for kids, but obviously adults are allowed to book things for them to use as well. I would definitely come back here and do the ropes course. It looks awesome! read more

My daughter has attended the summer camp 3 years now. Absolutely loves it. Great staff! It has been a highlight of her summer vacation. They have so many activities for the kids to participate in. I look forward to her dropping all of the electronic devices for the week. She always returns with a group of new friends that she stays in touch with and seems completely recharged. read more

I stayed here this past weekend with a group of ladies (20s-40s) and we had an amazing experience. We stayed in the whip-por-will lodge that accommodated all 13 of us. The lodge was spacious and very comfy. The staff were very accommodating from the beginning to the very end. The food was also good and fresh too. Since I planned the retreat, I chose all of our activities and we were very pleased with the amenities that the Black rock retreat center had to offer. You could not ask for a better camp. I have never stayed there at the retreat center but I have been there multiple times and everyone is very friendly and helpful. I have been going to summer camp there for 10 years now and it is the best of the best. The staff is beyond friendly and truly care about each and every one of their campers. The cabins we stay in are a good balance between cabin and house. The overall campus is very much preserving of the wonderful woods and nature while still having everything that a camp could want. read more

It has been over 15 years since I've been back to Black Rock. I vaguely remember it but I do remember the carpeted gym very well for some reason. My church and two other churches in the Delaware Valley area had a joint retreat here over Thanksgiving weekend. I was very impressed with the facilities and comfortable and clean they were. Also, throughout the whole weekend, Shirley and the rest of the staff at Black Rock could not be more accommodating. I felt bad for Shirley, it felt like we were constantly bugging her. But her patients and willingness to assist us and making the best out of our retreat time there, made it an enjoyable experience for everyone. We got a lot of great feedback from the leaders and attendees. Also, the food was pretty enjoyable, I ate so much over the weekend and gained 5 pounds! There is one thing that I would complain about which results in the 4 stars, is the meeting rooms have thin walls. There were times we could hear the kids and sometimes other group stay there one of the days while we were having our worship/message time. It was a bit distracting but it was okay. Black Rock Retreat is the greatest thing in the entire world. On a scale from 1 to maplehofe, it's closer to maplehofe. The food, contrary to what Sammy K says, is absolutely amazing and there is soooooo much! All the counselors at the summer camp program are unique and bring their own gifts to Black Rock - for example, Peter is crafty and Reuben is kickbally. All of the staff are surprisingly attractive, but even more beautiful on the inside, especially Chip. The gnomes that live in the trees are pretty cool too. Life without black rock is like An ear without wax. Black rock is also been around much longer than many may think. The legend of a pirate Daivy Johnson used Black Rock as a landmark many moons ago. Then Black Rock was founded 61 years ago, immediately afterwords the song Turn Down For What by local rap artist "Little Wayne" was made it is actually a metaphor for how gnarly Black Rock is, straight up dawg! I recently attended Family Camp at Black Rock Retreat with my daughter and grandchildren. Everything was amazing. First of all, the setting is beautiful with trees & flowers and the buildings are well placed in the wooded area. The food was delicious and abundant and was served in a way that there was seldom any waiting. Not only were all three meals good, but the 2 snacks a day were delicious. My grand-children especially loved the special time of decorating cupcakes, etc. that was offered almost every day after dinner. Our room was clean and it appeared that it was recently updated. Two different ladies attended the "Welcome Desk" and both were kind and helpful to everyone who stopped by with questions.The Family Camp program itself was wonderful. The "meeting rooms" were nice. The speaker was able to hold the attention of both the children and adults and he did a fantastic job. It was obvious that the staff was trying to promote family togetherness. The music at the programs and fireside was fun for all. The games planned by the Black Rock staff were new to us and a lot of fun. The pool and pool area was great. Everything at camp seemed to have been kept up. Playgrounds were nice and swings seemed to be everywhere. Last of all, the Family Camp planners did an amazing job and were friendly, kind and helpful.
