Cool little retreat from the Urban wasteland that is Marlton. A couple of paths that wind around between Marlton and Voorhees off of Kettle Run Road. Nothing too crazy to see here other than a path, a lot of trees, some birds and lots of dragonflies for some reason. A good sized loop and a chance to stretch the legs outdoors. Get up and go!

I was slightly confused when I first pulled up because I wasn't clear if you could drive in further but you do drive in to the parking lot, or I supposed you could leave your car on the side of the road. If you just go straight, you'll see the pond and the photos you see on here. Very relaxing and easy walk, lots of dragonflies today. Will go back to explore more of the trails!

    Beautiful in the fall.

This preserve is a true hidden gem. I've driven past it dozens of times and never thought twice about it but today I purposely made the trip, and I'm glad I did. This place has some beautiful trails and scenery. There are 5-6 different trails to choose from but today we did the green trail which is about 2.5 miles (5km) and took roughly an hour or so. Super relaxing and beautiful in the fall. I'll definitely be heading back to try the other trails in the near future. Great place to walk a dog. Free, but semi small parking lot off the side of the road where the trails begin. Kudos to the people maintaining this place, it's beautiful and everything is really well marked.

This is my second hike at this park. I believe I have hiked through all the trails at this point. It is very scenic and overall I give it a 2/10 in terms of difficulty. The red and purple trails were my favorite. On my second trip here I wanted to hike for about an hour but I ended up getting lost. Lost in terms of I want to get out but I don't know which way is the exit...I could definitely see the trail markers all throughout though! I recalled seeing a red color marker at the entrance so I followed that but ended up going deeper into the woods. I don't believe the white trail is fully finished as I had to double back a few times. I used google maps to get a sense of where I was but still couldn't make my way to the main road. Went in circles between the blue and green trails (the green trail said it was a 5K, not going to lie I got a bit worried there) but eventually I managed to make my way to Bortons road! and then it was another 30 min walk to my car along kettle run road. So what was supposed to be an hour nice weekend stroll ended up being 2 1/2 hours. Can't complain though, loved exploring!

South Jersey Trails blogger marks this as the second best trail on his top ten list, and it's pretty clear to see why once you get there. There are a few different trails to head out on, including some wider bike paths. The trails are marked very clearly with colored squares so it's difficult to get lost unless you do some serious offroading. Today I went down the red trail, and you get some pretty good views of the lakes as you wind around that trail. I followed the blue trail back to the trailhead and it was much straighter. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed or not, but today there were a few people out with dogs. Some were off leash, so just an FYI if you are bringing any small children or non-dog friendly pets on your hike. Overall, a really great place for a walk through the woods in South Jersey.

I have been driving down Kettle Run Rd. for 10 years now. I have recently seen a lot of cars parked in a spot off of the road and assumed there must have been trails. Wow, I had no idea of the nature trails and scenery in this park! It is amazing to walk through and connect with nature. There are biking trails too. From what I was able to explore, they didn't seem like very difficult trails, so you could be a beginner to enjoy them. There are plenty of spots to sit and relax to enjoy the small ponds and streams. I'd imagine this to be a nice spot to soak your feet in the summer! I'll look forward to many more future trips to this local gem!

Great trail with lots of shade. There are some ponds with water lilies. Well maintained. There is 1 porta potty at beginning of trail. Parking is available although small. Can accommodate maybe 10 cars. There are benches at some spots. Note : as of sept 2020, some parts of trail(the side branches of RED loop) is completely sunken into the water. You will have to climb a tiny bit and hop over the water on some narrow logs. Not a big deal for the average person but for small kids or elderly might be a challenge. You can avoid it by staying on BLUE trail.

The play area for older children has a very high slide and smaller slides for younger kids. There are swings for older children and bucket swings for the littles. The whole area has rubber tire below, so falls are not near as bad. There is a small rock climbing wall, ropes, and a good variety of things to do. The only time you want to avoid the park is on really hot days midday. The playground isn't at all shaded, so it can get very hot. There is also a pavilion area right next to the playground that is nice for having lunch. There are bathrooms there as well. In the summer, the ice cream truck is almost always there, so either bring cash or prep your kids that you won't be getting ice cream. haha! There are also fields all around the playground where you can walk the path, pull kids in a wagon, or ride on a bike as my kids like to do.

The playground is suitable for all ages with toddler swings/harnesses on one side of the playground and teen/adult swings on the other side. There are 2 different setups right next to each other. One is for older children and the other is for the younger children. The younger setup is arranged like a ship. There are 2 slides attached and some activities. The 2nd setup has multiple slides with multiple levels. The only way to get up to level 3 is by ladder, but the 2 slides on that level are pretty fun. I would say the playground is more for ages 3+, but fun can still be had by all. There are fields all around for football, soccer, or any other sport you can think of. Parking for the playground is limited with about 15 spots, but you can park on the grass all around the playground.

Living in Central Jersey, we decided to visit the playground after our trip to the Cherry Hill Mall down in the Southern New Jersey region. Firstly, Fort Medford is unique in style and variety of playground equipment, notably in the wooden castle/fort-like structure that serves as the focal piece of the overall playground. This structure provides several towers/turrets that reach about 7-9 feet high that is accessible through the built in steps. These towers are then mostly connected via wooden walkways or other playground obstacles that bridge the gap between the different towers, which then range from rope to bars that challenges the navigator's balance and dexterity (level of difficulty varies and may not be suitable for toddlers). There are also a variety of slides built in with this structure along with different swing sets available throughout. However, younger children can play in a more modern playground set that is a part of the overall playground area. The area and size of the playground is vast relative to other playgrounds that we have been to, and is comparable in size to the Regatta Playground (by Turtle Back Zoo) in North Jersey. This modern playground set is arguably a little less intimidating when it comes to the height for children and offer similar playground amenities (slides/obstacles). For adult consideration purposes, there is a brick-and-mortar restroom facility as well as a covered pavilion which can be used as a shaded/resting area with tables. Overall, this is a great playground for families to take their children to enjoy.

Four years later, I still find myself driving here from time to time to do the old running route. Besides that, I run through the park on an almost weekly basis, as it is part of my running clubs 12 mile Sunday run. The park is open and welcoming. A year or two ago volunteers built the Build Jake's Place, a "boundless" playground which welcomes children of all abilities and disabilities. During my most recent visit to the park this past week, I noticed that a second new playground area is being built. (I can't find the info now, but I think I read that it is going to be a softball/baseball field of sorts, again for all children, regardless of ability/disability). The park also includes a quarter mile track, restrooms, bocce court, a basketball court, and baseball field. There is also what appears to be a soccer or football field set back behind a wooded area that I have not ventured to, but I often see games being held there. A short walk to the other end of the park brings to to an area of the Cooper River, and a large grassy field area where one could spread out and relax. For the runner or walker, there are also some trails, which Cherry Hill Township has been making a point of maintaining in the last year or two, and has encouraged people to take advantage of these areas. I only recently ventured back in these trails, and they are really beautiful, well maintained, and not long or complicated enough to get you lost. If you prefer the roads, a lap around the entire park (Caldwell Road, Park Blvd., Kings Hwy., and back into the park on Bortons Mill) is about a 1.25 mile run. The park area is also home to the old Croft Farmstead, but I'll be honest... I don't know what goes on in those buildings, just that it's a historic area in the township. One thing the township/county needs to improve are the restrooms. On the occasion that they are actually open, they are absolutely awful. Smelly, filled with graffiti, no paper towels, and just filthy. The water fountains could use some upgrading, too... they are forced to be turned off in the winter because they don't utilize no-freeze technology, and in the summer the water is just hot, and therefore useless to an overheated endurance runner. If the park could fix either one of those things, they'd easily be a 4 or 5 star park in my eyes.
