We stayed at Los Gatos B&B for three nights while visiting the Finger Lakes. There are some genuinely nice things about the property. The grounds are very well maintained, the view from the deck is lovely, and the individual cabins have a certain rustic charm. Charlie was also very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Unfortunately, the stay itself had a number of problems. The biggest was the bed. The mattress in our cabin seemed extremely old -- it was lumpy, sagged badly, and we could feel the springs. The cabin walls are also quite thin, and the road noise in the morning was loud enough to wake us. Our check-in took about an hour. Charlie was very friendly throughout, but the process involved an extraordinarily detailed explanation of virtually every aspect of the property and our stay. Even something as basic as finding extra toilet paper required a phone call because it was hidden away; we were told this was because guests had stolen toilet paper during the pandemic. Breakfast was another disappointment. It is served only at 9:00 a.m., which is quite late if you're trying to get an early start sightseeing in the Finger Lakes. Charlie told us that they could make something gluten-free, but the way it was presented gave us the impression that doing so would be a bit of an inconvenience. We felt uncomfortable asking them to go to the trouble, so we never did. Availability was a recurring problem throughout our stay. We texted one evening to say we wouldn't be able to make breakfast the next morning but received no response. When we stopped in around 8:15 the next morning to make sure they knew, Rebecca was surprisingly rude to us. The interaction was unpleasant enough that we decided to skip breakfast for the rest of our stay. Coffee was supposed to be available beginning at 8:00 a.m., but on at least one morning the building was still locked at 8:30. There were some other oddities. The room was reasonably clean but had a slight musty smell. We were also told that we needed to stay in an alternate cabin because the air conditioning was broken in the cabin we'd reserved. Later, however, we saw another couple staying in that original cabin, which left us confused about what had happened. The lack of availability became particularly frustrating when we checked out. We needed to leave early, but once again the main building was locked and no one was available to check us out or accept our payment. A few hours later, Charlie called and told us he would be adding an extra 4% to our bill because, with us no longer physically present, it would be considered a "card not present" transaction. We found this particularly unreasonable. We were perfectly willing to pay in person, but no one was available to take our payment. Charlie never mentioned during our approximately one-hour check-in that we needed to pay at a particular time to avoid an additional 4% charge. Had he done so, we simply would have paid then. He told us afterward that there was a sign near the coffee maker explaining the charge, but we never saw it. Charging a guest an additional 4% because the owners weren't available to accept payment in person strikes us as unconscionable. Guests should not be financially penalized because no one from the B&B is available to check them out. At an absolute minimum, a charge like this should be clearly disclosed directly to guests in advance and they should be given a reasonable opportunity to pay without incurring it. Overall, Los Gatos has attractive grounds, nice views, and cute cabins, and Charlie was friendly to us at check-in. But between the extremely uncomfortable mattress, morning road noise, rigid breakfast schedule, the recurring difficulty finding anyone available, our unpleasant interaction with Rebecca, and finally being charged extra because no one was available to accept our payment, the negatives substantially outweighed the positives. All in all, this was simply a bad experience for us, and we would not stay here again. read more

We had an amazing time staying at Los Gatos. Rebecca and Charles were wonderful hosts and their home is comfortable and is in a wonderful location. Rebecca was an amazing breakfast cook and surprised us every morning with a delicious breakfast. They even make their own grape juice and jams that they shared each morning. Perfect location for exploring the finger lakes! Local to Penn Yan and a very short distance to several of the lakes and plenty of wineries and hiking trails. We stayed for 3 nights and Charles and Rebecca treated us like family. They welcomed us into their home and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. There was a wonderful breakfast each morning and the coffee pot was always available. There is a great view from the back deck and took advantage of it each evening. We appreciated their input on where to visit and all of their suggestions were spot on, right down to the best ice cream flavor to have at the best ice cream spot. read more

We had a wonderful stay here! The cabin was cozy, clean and charming. Ours hosts were fantastic! The homemade, fresh breakfast was delicious and filling. We really enjoyed the walking trail behind the cabins onsite! We were only 2 minutes from the town of Penn Yan, which offered great restaurants, wineries, coffee shops, and small gift shops, including Antique stores. It was the perfect getaway to relax and enjoy the fall foliage! Looking forward to returning next fall!!! read more

This is either our 4th or 5th stay at this bed and breakfast.....and the reason we keep coming back you ask?? Its fantastic! The property has a great location if you would like to explore both Seneca and Keuka Lakes for shopping, dining, hiking, and of course wine tasting. Charles and Rebecca truly make you feel at home - the breakfasts are spectacular with always the freshest local fruits and vegetables, delightful custards and/or pastry and the grounds our beautiful with abundant flower beds , trees, and gardens. WOW!! What a great place to stay!!! My wife and I decided to take a road trip to Central New York to visit various waterfalls in New York. After doing some research, and reading other reviews, we decided on Los Gatos B & B. We booked Casa Verde one of two beautiful cabins on this property. We never stayed at a B&B and did not know what to expect. But what a GREAT decision we made to stay at Los Gatos B & B. From the moment we arrived after a very long drive from Long Island, Charles & Rebecca welcomed us into their home. It was like staying with "family" . Charles & Rebecca went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and were always comfortable. The grounds were beautifully manicured and maintained with blooming flowers all over the property with rolling hills which provided a quiet and tranquil place to just sit and unwind or to walk about and enjoy God's creations. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Every morning, Rebecca and Charles prepared a delicious breakfast for us as well as several other couples who were also staying on the property. Everything was farm fresh to table with homemade jams and juices which were out of this world. We really enjoyed sharing stories with people from different walks of life all sitting around the table like one big family. We enjoyed our conversations with Rebecca & Charles and sharing our stories. I would definitely recommend Los Gatos B & B, in Penn Yan, NY, to anyone looking for a quaint, romantic, peaceful place to visit, unwind and enjoy wonderful hosts. We came to pen yan to go to the nascar race at Watkins Glen. This property was right on the way. Beautiful property. Charles the owner is super friendly. There also is a quaint 3 bedroom house too but we love the cabins. Property is well kept and very clean. Enjoy the living room or dining room in the house any time you want. Enjoy a very tasty home cooked breakfast at 9:00 every morning. There is a nice deck to sit and enjoy the view off the back of the house for guests to relax. You'll also enjoy seeing a hearing the clip clop if Amish buggies driving by as well. What a wonderful stay here and we highly recommend this lace to everyone! read more

This was my husband and I's first trip to the Finger Lake's and our first BnB experience! We were a little hesitant with the idea of sharing a common space with hosts & strangers, but boy did we luck out. Charles & Rebecca's spot was so perfect. I truly cannot speak highly enough of Los Gatos B&B. The owners, Susan and Burney, make each guest feel right at home with their cozy bedrooms and cabins. We stayed in the Blue Room, located on the left when you first walk in the home. The bed was SO comfortable and everything was neat and clean. Susan and Burney gave us a tour of their home as soon as we arrived and even accommodated us when we wanted to pick up our coupons for wineries a little before check-in. The breakfasts are to die for. Their coffee is a brew that they have made special for them and it is a nice, medium-bodied coffee with a smooth finish. The breakfasts are always filling and usually come with some sort of starter (fruit, biscuits, etc.), then go into the main course. My personal favorite during my stay was Burney's homemade Belgian waffles. They also have a variety of different jams/jellies at each breakfast and they are for sale as well. I ended up taking a Los Gatos B&B coffee mug home myself! Finally, Los Gatos provides an excellent social atmosphere for all guests. Each night, Burney would light the campfire on the deck for us and many of the other guests would join us with bottles of wine and we would talk about our experiences at the Finger Lakes. Breakfast is always as a group and after a couple of days, you feel like you have made some brand new friends. I strongly encourage all travelers to consider staying with Burney and Susan at Los Gatos. It is an unforgettable experience! read more

My wife and I along with our traveling companions stayed for two nights this October. We booked the trip to see the autumn colors; unfortunately, We were too early to catch the colors at peak. however, it was still a wonderful visit. Charlie and Rebecca are wonderful hosts. Charlie recommended visiting the Dr. Konstatin Frank winery and a hiking trail. The food is very good and their proprietary coffee blend is delicious. The rooms are much more spacious than I am used to seeing at a B & B and everything was very clean and tastefully furnished. It was every thing we wanted in a B & B. read more

This is the BEST B&B in the Fingerlakes, hands down and no question about it! Susan and Burney are incredibly welcoming and very down to earth. We stayed in the Blue Room, located in the main house. There are also private cabins available as well. The bed was absolutely wonderful, and the breakfast was a 5 star experience. Susan and Burney take the Bed and Breakfast portions of their B&B very seriously! We were given a tour and made to feel right at home. Their location is perfect if you're looking to do some wine tours and the hosts are full of great information and suggestions. A beautiful stay at a beautiful place. I stayed here a few months back with my friend and when I look back, I can still remember the beautiful quilt pattern in our room, remember how I had admired the well thought decor on one wall that complemented the quilt. It wasn't all about the quilt :) The room was spacious and clean. Likewise, the bathroom. We stayed in the Sage room right next to the kitchen. Lovely to wake up to the fresh smell of coffee. The whole house has an open cheery ambience. It is nice to look out and have unobstructed views. Wish we had time to stroll through the gardens. The place has the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding. Also wish we had enough time to socialize with los gatos. The cats are out of sight & won't be let loose unless the guests want some purrfect love. The breakfasts made by Burney were delicious, guests get to taste the home made jams and jellies made by Susan that are also available for sale. They are gracious hosts, right there to help out when needed while not getting in the way. My husband and I stayed here for our 1st year anniversary and it was STUNNING. We stayed in one of the log cabins which sits directly next to the bed and breakfast. We would walk over every morning for a delish breakfast served by Rebecca and Charles. They had homemade Jams to die for! Rebecca and Charles were more then accommodating and provided us many recommendations for things to do in the Finger Lakes. This location is also perfect to hit many different areas. Burney and Susan are wonderful people and their breakfast was absolutely delicious! We stayed in the Sage room with the sleigh bed and it was very cozy and comfortable. Their house was lovely on the inside and we even got to meet one of "Los Cats". Hoping to come back sometime when the weather warms up so that we can stay in one of the beautiful cabins they have on site. Very good B&B..the breakfasts are yummy..I had bluberry cheesecake flapjacks the last day and wound up having three helpings (ok, I'm a bit of a pig..but they were that good!). ..the accomodations wer e very nice, quite clean, and my room was comfortable. I stayed off the kitchen which wasn't as private as the other rooms, however, apparently, I had the least $$$ room. The owners are very welcoming and warm, and their property is very well kept..they have homemade jams that they server at breakfast, a nice indoor back patio where you can hang, play games, watch TV etc. My room has TV, very nice bathroom, large comfy bed, ceiling fan. No individual A/C but this is common for a B&B. If you're staying anywhere near here, you wont be disappointed. This is a an excellent B&B, and one I would stay at again...just book it. :) read more

Los Gatos is our favorite B&B! We've stayed there at least 5 times, and when we visit the finger lakes, it's our go to place. The owners Susan and Bernie are very hospitable and a lot of fun to talk to. The rooms (and cabins) are always perfectly clean and accommodating. And last, but certainly not least, is the food... Delectable home grown meals including hand made syrups, juices, and jams. We never leave hungry! The location is great for trips to both Keuka and Seneca wine trails. Do yourself a favor and stay at Los Gatos, just leave us a room!!! read more

I don't usually review but after seeing a couple of people with similar experiences I felt it necessary and for context because I feel it is an important factor, I am Hispanic and my husband is Caucasian. My husband and I stayed here as a gift from a friend and ended up leaving before our stay was suppose to end. When we first checked in I had noticed that any questions I asked or tried to say to the man with the mustache (later to find out they were one of the owners) were only answered to my husband and not to me. Which was odd but I brushed it off initially. Until the next day when I woke up with some bug bites and wanted to speak with them about my concern. The same man spoke with me and when I talked about what happened he said "a woman like you wouldn't be able to identify a bug bite like that, it is an overreaction." I was shocked! After seeing as many good reviews of this place and then to be treated so badly I went to my husband and we left immediately. I sat and thought about my experience and decided to look into the owner only to find out that not only does he say things like that to people but says/posts hateful bigoted/sexist things online as well! I will never recommend or support this business again after that and I strongly urge you to rethink if you are going to stay here and support someone who is so disrespectful because I wish I would have done more research into my stay beforehand. read more
