After seeing Cory's work on IG, I knew I found the right guy to do exactly what I was looking for - an updated spin on American traditional-type artwork with that magical red that just POPS, and someone who valued 80's/90's - current pop culture. I love the way he incorporates these "nerdy" pop culture icons into his designs (Star Wars, X-Men, Ghostface, etc.). You can tell how seriously he takes his craft and it shows in his work. I didn't hesitate to go for a decent sized Darth Vader on my shoulder/arm, and it came out even better than expected. Less than 6 months later and I went back for my second tattoo from Cory - a traditional looking dragonfly for my moms 60th bday (she's always had a dragonfly tattoo). Again, perfection. The shop itself is awesome - very clean and open, with flash splattered on the walls and plenty of books showcasing art/tattoos from well known artists for inspiration/reference. Fridge full of complementary waters/drinks. And other artists either hard at work, or just shooting the shit (which is entertaining enough to get you through a full session, thanks Phil). I highly recommend Black Swan Tattoo. While I specifically chose Kris Taylor as the artist for my tattoo, the others there are just as talented. I had researched a few artists in town, all are very busy and the good ones have a waiting list. With Black Swan, it's worth it. Due to the pandemic, they are even stricter now after the Delta variant with mandatory masks, no walk-ins, and no guests. I was in right before they enacted the stricter rules and was very impressed by how clean everything was. It has been a few decades since my last tattoo, but I was familiar with the process and knew about the sterilization, etc. They really put me at ease.Everyone was friendly and while professional, it felt like it was more of a family then coworkers there. So, while you cannot walk in right now and check them out, you can do so via their website and check out the individual artists on Instagram. Overall had a decent experience but it was communication afterwards is the reason I'm rating it what I did. This review isn't meant for all the artists there, I'm sure they do great work. I had my piercing and finger tattoo done by the female artist, Kori (I say female because there's another artist with the same name). She seemed cool during the appointment, I had no discomfort. Went well. She advised me that finger tattoos are high maintenance, it'll need more touch ups because they fade quicker. Which I understood. So about 2.5 weeks after the initial appt I noticed some spots that did not take the ink and was really spotty. Wasn't sure if they were suppose to be this bad only 2 weeks after getting it done so I reached out to her on a Friday, no response. Reached back out again on a Monday morning, finally got a response but later at night. She said she thought she had been messaging me but supposedly ended up having a whole conversation with someone else. I didn't believe her but just said "no worries" and asked her if I can get a touchup appointment. Yeah that was almost two weeks ago and still have not received a response and confused on why I'm being ignored. She told me at the initial appointment if I needed a touch up then to reach out to her. So I wouldn't book with her again after all of this. I had a appointment there on a Saturday. Had previously emailed and spoke with the artist about a price range and what I wanted. Just adding onto a tattoo I already had and some color to it. He only sat up for black and gray and I did not address as I had already changed my mind before the appointment even though he didn't not ask me about this that day. He drew the deigns on,I agreed to it and he started working. I was and am happy with the tattoo design. The reason I am leaving only one star and will never go back or recommend this artist or shop is because the artist Kris has a large swastka on his forearm. I did not notice this until my tattoo was almost finished. I felt very uncomfortable after noticing this. I also feel he over charged for the tattoo. He added the clouds and rain and charged me $250. I did not question it due to the uncomfortableness from his tattoo,the shock of the price and just overall anxiety and of that moment. I am mad at myself for not addressing the issue in the moment but I can not change that now. He came highly recommended from a friend who was very upset when I informed her if this. My daughter has gone there for her piercings in past and always gives the woman a hugh tip. She went there Thursday 11/7 and got her lip pierced she gave her at least $10 tip, the woman didn't tighten the back so when my daughter went to the movies a couple hours later it fell out!! We called and explained the situation they told us if we want it pierced again it's $15 which is BS!!! Don't go here they r money hungry!! read more

This is my first tattoo in Lakeland, Florida. As I am new to Florida. They were very friendly and very clean. The tattoo artist was very hilarious and did a fantastic job! He was light handed when doing the tattoo which helped it hurt less then my very first tattoo I got ever! I will definitely be going back to this tattoo parlor again in the near future!
