The short version:  The service provided by Greg was beyond outstanding, and the tux I rented, guided by Greg's expert advice at every turn, was perfect.   The medium version of a longish story:   To start, the tux was, again, perfect.  Greg's deep experience, full and patient explanations of everything I needed to know ensured that it came out great.   The fuller story relates to Greg's service - I don't want to ramble on too much here, but will try to explain the way-above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty help Greg provided.  Again, it's a long story, but shorter version is that the road I used to get to Santa Paula turned out to be closed, so I faced a choice between turning around for an hour long 30-40 mile reroute, or a walk of an hour or so through the closure and into Santa Paula.  Greg solved the problem - he drove to the closure and picked me up, and then drove me back again after the measuring and tux selection process.  The next dilemma for me was that I had a late night commitment in LA, and faced figuring out a way to get to Santa Paula the next day in order to pick up my tux.  Once again, Greg went way beyond any reasonable expectations - he met me at 1am directly on my route from LA to Ojai to deliver my tux.  Finally, although this final one was at a more normal hour, he arranged for me to drop off the tux after my daughter's wedding on the same LA-Ojai route, once more saving me a trip to Santa Paula.   Apologies for long story, but hopefully you can see why I am so appreciative of all that Greg did for me - I recommend him and his rentals in the strongest possible terms. read more

This was the best experience I could've had. My son needed a tuxedo for his cousins wedding in New York and we were unable to work with the company, his cousin was using in New York. Mr Barraza, of Black Tie, took the time to call the tuxedo shop in New York to work with them and get the measurements they needed. When calling New York, the owner of the tuxedo company there was terrible to work with. He was extremely rude and told me that the measurements would not work for him, EVEN THOUGH he spoke to Mr. Barraza. I took my patronage to Black Tie and rented the tuxedo from there. Wow- where do I even begin! Well here I go- my son being a typical teenager - decides to tell me one week before the senior ball THAT HE IS GOING AND NEEDS a tux! Omg ....... Spoke with Greg at black tie formal- Saturday 1pm - began to tell him my dilemma as he actually ended up telling it to me as he runs into last minute teenagers doing same thing as mine lol- he was going to close this day at 3- no way I could get my boy and get there by that time as he was working - so Greg explained to me all my choices and made special arrangements to open just for my procrastinator boy on SUNDAY yes I said sunday! So we arrange to meet at 9am- he arrived at 9(very punctual!) Told him what my son wanted and WITHOUT even measuring my boy -he pulled out a jacket THAT FIT HIM PERFECTLY, how's that for eyeballing his size. greg gave my son some ideas and he was very happy! Let me start by saying prior to my latest experience I had dealt with this business hassle-free three times before. Sure, I always thought the cost was a little excessive, but i didn't complain. Now I have to speak up. After having grown a familiarity with the owner I thought he would value a repeat customer. I was wrong. The most recent (and last ever) time I dealt with him I happened to take my suit in a few days late. This man was ruthless in hounding me every day until I brought it back (3 days after it was due). Great service. I have used this business multiple times for my older sons high school events and I always get top notch service. Due to a miss communion on my part, last week I came in on Wednesday in a panic for a tuxedo for my younger son to wear to a formal charity event on Friday. The owner was not only helpful, but after hearing what we needed it for, he ended up donating the tuxedo for the event. This was not something he had to do and we didn't ask him to. So, I live in Oxnard and the first place i thought to get a tux for prom was somewhere by my house like Joseph A. bank or Men's Wear house. My first stop was Joseph A. Bank, and after customizing my tuxedo the price FOR A RENTAL came out to be OVER $260. I was thinking to myself do i really need this tux. lol. But, then i remembered a few years ago i went to Black Tie to rent a tuxedo for a quince. So, i left Joseph A. Bank and headed straight for Santa Paula. After talking with Greg he actually remembered me (which shows how awesome the service is there). then we started to discuss what i should wear for prom and preferred me to wear a certain coat because it fit me better (I'm pretty short). After deciding on what colors and pieces i should wear (the exact same colors and coat styles that Joseph A. Bank has) the final price i need to pay when i pick it up for rental is just under $150. FOR A CUSTOM TUXEDO RENTAL. Where the other "name brand" guys will let me RENT it for almost $300. I hope this review informs you on how AWESOME the service was and how LOW the prices were, FOR THE EXACT SAME THING. read more
