This place is wonderful. They provide education, ladies events, and a full range of products. Also a bonus: super close to the Air Force Base for a quick jaunt if you run out of anything. In the interest of full disclosure, I have experience with the owners professionally, personally, and philanthropically. I'm still a paying customer and this absolutely does not prevent me from telling it like it is - and let me tell you - these amazing women know what they're doing and how to do it. In an area where options are limited - Black Velvet Boutique has lots and lots of options. They don't have it? Talk to them about it. Ask about the upcoming events, or simply ask the staff about products they'd recommend. They are constantly adding new products and changing things out. Worse service ever. I don't think I have ever rated a business before. I am not that guy. I was at home shopping on amazon when I realized if I drove across town I could save a few bucks and support a local business. So, I grabbed my keys and got in the car. I decided to check the Black Velvet Boutiques store hours and make sure I could make it on time. When I realized, I was going to make it to the store just a few minutes before closing, so I called to see if this would be an issue. They assured me that as long as I was there before 9:00, I could buy my one item. I got there before nine, the employees van was still there, the store was locked, and the lights off on the main floor. I could see the lights upstairs where they were hiding from me. It is simple curtesy! I called to see if this business wanted my business if I walked in just a few minutes before closing. I get that stores close their tills, etc, etc. Just tell me. After getting back in my car I checked, my watch, phone and car clock. None said was nine yet. Black Velvet probably only lost a couple of dollars tonight, but they have lost my business forever. read more

Me and my boyfriend (young adults) visited this store after being too embarrassed to buy from Spencer's being afraid of judgment. We decided this place seemed better to go to instead of a store in mall. The second we walked in an employee immediately asked for identification saying we looked young. We knew this would probably be the case so we provided our IDs and then the employee mentioned our ages again and it made us feel uncomfortable like we shouldn't have been there. We looked around for a minute and decided to leave because then the situation just felt awkward and not welcoming to us. read more

The employee tending to the shop was very judgmental and made false assumptions of character. Completely lost my business and respect. I'll be making the drive to my preferred shop in American Fork. Very nice little place with lots of items inside! When I walked in I wasn't overwhelmed or anything and it looked quite pleasant. What really sold the experience for me was the lovely person inside. I'm a total newbie so when I came in looking for lube I was looking at sensual gels instead lol. I went to her for help and recommendations and she pointed me in the right direction, helped me figure out what I wanted, and then what would be best. I left feeling confident in my decisions and was not uncomfortable at all through the whole thing! I may come back to check out more, especially the lovely little outfits they have! read more

We bought a butterfly with straps to hold it in place. When we went to use it later that night, the straps tore off. We never even got to use it. This item cost $50! When I called the next day, I was basically told that I was screwed (and not in a good way) I was told no refunds, no exchanges, so sorry. So we wasted $50 on something that broke before we could even use it. I know returning these items may seem gross, but if the product is defective to begin with, there should be some exceptions. We have spent hundreds of dollars here in the past. They have just lost some customers. read more

I was here a few weeks ago and the store is super cute and their selection for toys is actually amazing. I'm sad I have to give this place only two stars because the representative there made me and my friends very uncomfortable. Immediately the representative was super pushy and didn't really give us time to look around. She ran into the toy room as we went back there and my friend mentioned to us she had always wanted under the bed restraints. The rep started pulling stuff off the racks and handing it to her. We felt a little put off because it was just a comment made in passing. She then left the room and my sister who was there buying her first toy had brought me along because I had worked in the industry previously and she's shy and pretty modest and wanted me there for moral support. My sister starts looking around and I just asked her what she was thinking and the representative runs into the room again and then asks us what we're looking for. We didn't really mind that she wanted to help, but then my sister tells her she's looking for her first toy and she asks what her budget is. My sister tells her she wants something on the cheaper side and the representative then tells her with an attitude "well cheap to me is $300 so I need a number" this is the second thing that really hurt our experience. People will be coming into this store not wanting to spend $300 and have different budgets/incomes, so to have an attitude because she thinks $300 is cheap was a turn off. I understand talking about quality, but she wasn't even trying to educate her. After she picks out a toy for my sister she immediately takes her to the counter to check out and just grabs a lube and toy cleaner from the shelf. She then starts ripping the toy from the box with no gloves on and asks my sister word for word if she wants to "feel how the toy will feel on her clit" by putting it up to her nose. My sister was already at the counter at this point and is pulling out her cash, she also did not ask her to take the toy out of the box. Also like I mentioned before my sister is modest, so this just added to her uncomfortable experience. I feel like we were rushed in and out and didn't have time to look around, and my sister said she now feels weird using the toy because she can't stop thinking about how uncomfortable the representative made her feel. I wish I knew the name of the representative because I feel like this could be a coaching opportunity on how to handle the customer base here and to be better able to gauge the customer you are dealing with to avoid this happening again. read more

Very happy with my experience! I was greeted right when I walked through the door by the friendly Assistant Manager. She walked me to the area where what I was looking for was located, and pointed out the different sections. When I required help, she came right over and answered every question I had. When I seemed unsure, she even opened the boxes of the two products I was looking at so I could make an informed/educated decision! She also dropped some knowledge on me and that really helped contour and better suit my purchases. She made me feel comfortable while we were talking about such a delicate subject. Black Velvet Boutique is now my home store, I will be suggesting it to friends and I hope that during my next visit I will have the same lady to assist me. read more

Excellent service if you have the guts to ask them questions about the toys. But seriously, ask them! They work there for a reason and know just how to spice things up in the bedroom for you and your significant other. Poor employees, poor ownership, terrible customer service. wish I could have a job where I can get paid to talk on my phone instead of helping people. I don't know if commission is offered here but doubtful considering that no one on multiple occasions even tried to help or talk to me and other customers. Heard a group of employees bad mouthing a previous customer. Not professional. would love to see a new store or new management. read more
