I was very disappointed with my experience during an evaluation visit at the Novato facility…read more My goal was simple: to give Harley, my 6-month-old male miniature doodle, an opportunity to meet and play with other dogs a couple of days a week. I dropped him off around 9:00 a.m. and was contacted around 11:00 a.m. and asked to pick him up. I was told that someone in the back had determined that Harley was not suitable for their program because he "did not participate with other dogs." The reception staff was professional and courteous when I dropped off and picked up Harley. However, I was very disappointed that I was not given the opportunity to speak with a qualified staff member who had actually observed Harley. I was told only that he did not "participate," but I received no explanation of what that meant, what they had observed, whether Harley was anxious, shy, simply uninterested, or whether there was some other concern. To my understanding, Harley was not causing problems or misbehaving; he simply was not participating with the other dogs during the evaluation. If that behavior made him unsuitable for the program, I would have appreciated a professional explanation and perhaps some guidance about whether or how that behavior could be addressed. I believe good communication is especially important when evaluating a young dog. I left feeling that the decision had been made without giving me enough information to understand what happened or how to help Harley. More information and the opportunity to speak with the person who evaluated him would have been greatly appreciated.

We met Zuki, the owner and primary trainer about 2 years ago, when we got our little dog, Lexi. She…read morewas an adorable, 4 month old beagle but she was a handful! She loved to chew on everything... baseboards, cabinets, fabric, paper, outdoor drip hose and low voltage electrical wiring! She also loved digging in the yard. She was afraid of most everyone and everything, including people and other animals. We could not get her to venture out of the house, other than to go into our back yard and would not go on a walk. Zuki has been a godsend! She spent lots of time with us, training us to train our dog. She demonstrated behavioral techniques, and gave us numerous opportunities to practice these while she was present. We had weekly homework assignments and she also provided us with additional suggestions on ways to alter Lexi's behavior, as well as suggestions for chew toys and rewarding treats. Now, at 3 years old, we can say, for the most part, we have a well behaved pet who follows commands, no longer chews, rarely digs, and loves to take walks! She is still getting used to other animals, but even in that, she is making progress. We would not hesitate to recommend Zuki and Can-Do Canine!

Stephanie is very knowledgeable and professional, and Prince absolutely loves her and followed her orders. :) it's quite magic to see the changes after the first session. Stephanie is very thorough. Not only she provided a fun and engaged class, at the end of each session, she wrote detailed summary of lessons learned and tips which is super helpful. We now feel very comfortable to apply what we learned to Prince. :) We highly recommend Stephanie.

When we bought Waffle, we weren't sure about ourselves, whether we could become a good parent for…read morehim or not. There were so much uncertainties being the first dog and especially puppy owner. We got waffle when he was 12 weeks old, and the first night was definitely very difficult for us. We watched a bunch of YouTube videos, read plenty of articles, we did what we could to prepare ourselves but the reality is a whole lot harder than what we could have ever anticipated. The next few days was definitely easier, but we felt we needed a help. Someone who could guide us in the right path. We reached out to a few trainers, but Stephanie was the only one who not only responded swiftly but she did it in a very thorough manner. Stephanie took the time to address our concerns and uncertainties by writing in a greater detail about what to do, what to expect etc. We hadn't even hired her. The other trainers we reached out to, only responded to us in just one or two short lines. Stephanie's attention to detail and passion carry through in the entire sessions. Stephanie would send a recap email of the things we do that day. And mind you, this is not just a quick and very short paragraph, her recap of the day is very thorough and detail, it's as if we are reading an article on the internet written by a professional trainer for us specifically. It is that good and personalized!!! Her training as well is very detail. She's very confident, as a result Waffle really obeys and respects her. He is always full of excitements whenever she visits. What I also very like about the training is that, she becomes a voice for Waffle, which is hugely important for us because a lot of times we don't understand what Waffle is trying to say or thinking. Stephanie translates all that in a language that me and my wife understand. She explains why Waffle does certain things, why and if it needs to be addressed, how to address them. Stephanie believe in a positive reinforcement, that everything needs to be taught from inside out. She also outlines what the 4 sessions going to be, but if we have a more pressing matter to address, she can become flexible but at the same time making sure the important basic skills are taught and the outlines are covered. The first training session actually went over because we had so much questions and concerns, Stephanie really took the time to answer and address our concern. Finally after the sessions are done, we are able to understand what she said at the beginning about how this was her passion instead of just a profession. It really shows! Stephanie is also so thoughtful, she brought Waffle a diploma (a certificate) that he has finally graduated :) I would highly recommend Stephanie to everyone who just bought/adopted a puppy or even dog with general behavioral issues. This is someone who really cares about you and your dogs. We went from so much uncertainties to being very confident. We understand how to take this forward and how to train him further. Thank you very much Stephanie!!!
