Great quality items & ethically sourced. Friendly and helpful staff. A favorite shop of mine.read more

It is the plant shop that I never knew that I needed,…read moreand so very on trend with the current buzz surrounding succulents, crystals, and crafts. Stem & Stone is tucked into a small storefront in downtown Birmingham. Upon entering, you will find yourself overwhelmed by shelves of potted succulents and containers. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, guiding me through the process of creating my own home garden. You are encouraged to first select your vessel, then succulents. I, however, was immediately drawn to two lovely plants, so I started with those and worked backward. The succulent varieties vary from dainty to tall and leafy to spiny. Choose a mix to enhance the visual impact with texture. The containers are similarly diverse, ranging from glass terrariums to lovely ceramics and pots hanging on macrame. Once you have made your selections, now you dazzle it up with colored sand or pebbles. Now, for the "DIY light" twist - The shop keeper plants the succulents for you! No dirty hands for you, Visionary. Once your potted creation is in hand, you can tap your inner zen and add some crystals or even a cute Buddha figurine! Items are priced individually, and my creation (reference uploaded image) cost about $40. I had a great time, and plan to return in the future to create living gifts with a personal touch!

I had a very disappointing experience with Thrifty Flowers. I ordered a sunflower arrangement from…read moreout of state for a friend whose dog had passed, but the website didn't allow special notes, and I received no confirmation when the order was sent. The arrangement that arrived was full of lilies which are deadly for pets, despite the sensitive situation. When I called, I was transferred multiple times (even to a driver) and told sunflowers were "out of season," so they substituted the arrangement without informing me. They promised a replacement and a refund review, but by Monday nothing had been done. The staff I spoke with were dismissive and unhelpful, saying they "don't work weekends" and could only "avoid" lilies but not guarantee anything. They said there was no way corporate would provide any concession or discount. In the end, I had to repay delivery fees, and the replacement arrangement was small and poor quality. Overall, the lack of communication, rude service, and unsafe substitution make me unable to recommend this florist--especially for sensitive occasions.

I asked her for help once and instead of helping me she just side eyed me and stuck her tongue out. I didnt find this very funny and I dont think she belongs at this store. When I bought flowers that were 30 dollars sharon charged me 60 and when I tried to correct her she called me dyslexic. I also heard sharon farting in her coworkers faces whilst they were telling her to stop. Thats all.

Garden Ave Florals in Royal Oak is, hands down, my new happy place. And trust me, I'm not just…read moresaying that because my own attempts at gardening usually end with a tiny plant funeral. If your thumbs are more brown than green, like mine, you absolutely HAVE to know about this spot. I recently ran over there for a last-minute florals for a few events I had over a busy weekend, and seriously, it was a game-changer. Lawrence and Lorraina, the incredible owners, are the real stars here. They're not just selling flowers; they're like floral whisperers who magically know exactly what you need, even when you're clueless (I'm very clueless when it comes to flowers). I walked in feeling a bit frazzled, and within minutes, Lorraina had me totally at ease and excited. I even got a little something just for myself. I made a day of it and found myself at my favorite coffee shop around the corner. And the flowers? Iconic. They're absolutely gorgeous, super fresh, and arranged with such an artistic eye... very unique like I've never seen it done before. I snagged a bouquet that looked like it belonged in a magazine. Lawrence, with his chill vibe, makes you feel like you're in the presence of a floral wizard. He effortlessly glides around, creating masterpieces, all while making sure everyone feels right at home. It's like they've bottled up pure sunshine and good vibes and infused them into every single bloom. So happy I found myself at Garden Ave Florals. You'll walk out with an incredible arrangement, a much-needed dose of joy, and probably a few good laughs. Lawrence and Lorraina aren't just selling flowers; they're creating art, one stunning bouquet at a time. My only real problem now? I want to buy flowers for myself every single day. My bank account and man might not thank me, but my soul definitely will!!!!! Obsessed!!
