I became a member of the museum this year and this was my first member event. A Night at the Museum, performance by The Drum Music Orchestra of Xi'an: "The troupe's repertoire commonly highlights themes like the elegance of Tang-era court culture, the spirit of the Silk Road, and iconic stories and imagery from Chinese history. Pieces tied to ideas such as Chang'an (historic Xi'an), the Terracotta Warriors, Mulan, and the romance and celebration of the Lantern Festival." The performance was spectacular hearing the traditional themes in their repertoire was breathtaking. The dancers were elegant and glided across the floor. There were traditional snacks and tea offered which was a nice touch. All the exhibits were closed except for Into China, visitors were able to view the exhibition prior to the performance.

Visited the museum during my child's school field trip and was pleasantly surprised by how much there was to see inside. The staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to introduce the history behind each exhibition to us. We had a very enjoyable and meaningful morning there.

This is a pretty good size museum that's tucked away in a shopping plaza in Danville. The admission is $20 for adults. The museum is broken into 5 sections: Art of Africa, Classic Cars, Into China, World of Nature, and the Old West. Although each section was interesting to explore, I struggled to find a cohesive theme. Is it an art museum, or a science museum? It's a little of everything. The Art of Africa section is pretty small compared to the rest. However, the wooden sculptures were really impressive. The Into China section showed beautiful artwork using many different media (wood, ivory, gold, shells, needlework). The Nature section consisted for life-like wild animals with sound effects. The Old West included cowboys and Native American history and artifacts. The Classic Cars section was shiny from floor to ceiling. I believe they rent this section out for private events. There were several volunteers that we ran into, and they were always willing to answer any questions. There was also a guided tour if you rather not explore on your own. There's 3 levels, all accessible via elevator. All in all, it was a nice way to spend an afternoon and learn some history.

Fantastic local museum that will blow your mind with all of the amazing artifacts! Well laid out. Large free parking.

This small museum holds high quality artifacts and antiques. It totally exceeded our expectations, especially with the beautiful views outside where you can see beautiful landscapes, ducks/birds, and walk to nearby restaurants in the Blackhawk Plaza area. Admissions fees were considered cheap for the value it holds here. One senior plus one military veteran plus one adult came out to only $35 for 3 people. We spent nearly 2.5 hours inside. It's worth taking photos here. Staff was very helpful and resourceful. Beautiful cars were parked in front. You can park in their tiny parking lot behind the building or park on lower level where the Blackhawk Plaza shops and restaurants are located. Everything is walkable distance. Our favorites: The antique vintage cars on ground floor and the Chinese history section. We took our time to enjoy every corner of it. My friend likes the world nature section with animal displays. I also liked the American-Indian history section on top floor next to old wild west items. Elevators come in handy. Africa section was too small, but African musical instruments were interesting. This museum is highly organized and unique. Not huge, but 2-3 hours spent here taking photos and observing was definitely worthwhile. Vintage cars section was the meat of this museum. Excellent quality. $35 for 3 people is a fat wallet museum deal. Highly recommended. Walking down the paths here on a lovely sunny day will melt your heart. Stunning. We will be back next time. Very peaceful and positive feeling here.

Its a beautiful museum with a few different exhibits. A fine collection of old and new cars, I enjoyed seeing them the most. They have a china exhibit and an African Art exhibit, all kf which were beautiful. Good for a 2-3 hours. In a beautiful plaza with great eateries around, kids 8-11 enjoyed their time.

Great place to visit and only 45 miles from Campbell CA. The parking lot is TINY! like 15 cars tiny, however if below the museum there is tons of parking. The museum is 190,000 sq feet and housed 5 exhibits today. Art of Africa, the Auto Gallery, Spirt of the west, world of nature , and into China. The Art of Africa had some really amazing carved wood exhibits. Please see pictures. Into China exhibit had so unbelievable porcelain pots from 600 AD. And later and an exhibit of some of the terra-cotta soldiers. The car exhibit "I mean what's not to like?" The World of nature exhibit was very cool with taxidermy animals everywhere!! "See pictures. It took about 4 hours to walk all the exhibits. The Blackhawk museum is a great place to visit for both children and adults.

An excellent, excellent museum!!! Located in Danville, it is $20 to enter. So, after you enter, if you go straight ahead, which most people do, you will see their classic car collection. The cars are super clean, with all the chrome reflecting off of the lights. And they are cars ranging from Ferraris to Fords, from Lamborghinis to Chevys to super old cars. The car collection alone was worth the entrance fee!!! Next I went to the Art Of Africa room. This room was a bit smaller than the rest, but it was packed with incredible art and history. The masks, and the history behind them was very interesting. After that, I went to the Into China area, which was huge, one of the largest areas here. So much to see in here, the Forbidden City model in here was very impressive, all the history and sculptures in here stood out. From Buddha to the Dragons with all the symbolism, very impressive. There was even a guide in here walking around explaining certain things to people. Then, I went downstairs to the World Of Nature section. Lots of life sized animals down here along with the sounds of nature all around. And even though the animals weren't alive, it had a safari feel to it here. And lastly, I went back up and to the 3rd Floor, where the Spirit Of The Old West area was, which also was super huge. A lot of great history in here, American history, and some of the reads were great. This area was really more interesting than I thought it would be. From the American Indian and Sitting Bull to all the guns of the old west. They even had an area outside of this room which focused on the old western movies. This is, without a doubt, one of the best museums I've ever been in!!! Highly recommended!!!

We had such a great time planning a homeschool field trip to Blackhawk museum. The staff made it really easy and such a beautiful experience to have a private tour of the museum and have the kids learn about history. We really appreciated the attention to details.

Well it has easily been over 15 years since I have been to this museum. There were many more classic cars. However, they have expanded into natural history, Asian art and western museum in addition to the original classic car museum. I recently attended a special event in the Auto Museum portion of the venue fit a Rotary International dinner. The facility was amazing. Truly an elegant affair. I was able to tour most of the museum prior to the event and it really requires a whole day to really absorb all the features of this facility. Go visit...it's worth it.

Beautiful museum, would love to go again. The car exhibit was by far the most exciting...

The horses represent all of the ethnicities in China.

Totally worth the $20 for an interesting and informative walk through cool cars, African art, Chinese history, and all the animals of the world. I especially loved the Terracotta soldiers, the silk art, and the amazing African sculptures. I highly recommend this as an afternoon activity--you won't regret it!!

I plan to visit the museum this Friday, could I buy tickets at the entrance or would you recommend online only?

We bought tickets at the door with no problem.

Do they have electric vehicle charging stations?

Yes they do. If you owe a Tesla they aren't Tesla chargers. They're level 2 chargers. Some of them are free & some are't free. My husband has charged there once or twice.

Felt like a bait and switch -- I went back on the website to see if there was a disclaimer about parties being only 1 hour -- there is, but it's very discreet. It should definitely be more clear so there aren't any surprises. 2. The art project takes quite literally 5 minutes (no wonder only one hour is included...). While I'm sure the art is going to be beautiful, I would go as far as saying this was boring for a crew of 7 year old girls. After all of the instructions were given it was truly.. 5 minutes of fun... I quote the birthday girl.., "mom, we poured paint in a cup and then poured it in paper. That's it." I really wish there was something else to make the party a bit more fun and engaging. Play a game? Sing? Literally anything to extend the fun. The art itself is simply not enough to justify having a party there.
