Lots of birds of prey on this course. Birdies, not so many.

Friendly little course surrounded by homes and wooded areas. It consists of separate 9 hole courses that can be played in various combinations. It was a fun layout, friendly atmosphere and we were able to play as a twosome, therefore fast. The course conditions were not optimal, with overgrown fairways, clover and uneven greens. With better maintenance this would be a fine local course. We did enjoy some live music and a cold beer on the patio after the round. The people were friendly and everyone was having a good time.

What a beauty. Such a serene place to walk and explore nature. Many eucalyptus trees, butterflies, and the temperature was just right. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a sweet escape. The club has live bands on Sunday!! A special addition to my visit

First time playing this course. Had a voucher from Under Par: Otherwise may not have played it. Voucher indicated we had to play after 11. We went out as a twosome behind a few Other twosomes. Got around the course in 4 hours without much waiting. Would have been even faster but we lost several balls in the debris off The fairways. The course itself is challenging . We had to shoot over trees and between trees. We didn't get much carry due to strong winds. I was disappointed that management has clearly decided not to put much money or effort into keeping the course maintained. Fairways were Riddled with clover which prevented much roll. Hole markers were very rough, peeling paint. Lots of tree debris around the greens and under The trees. It's a shame because this was probably a very nice course at one time. I would play it again. Great help in the bar and live music on the patio.

Tee area on the 2nd hole at Canyons, where the heck is the fairway?

A beautiful layout with some dramatic holes, we played the Canyons & Lakes. Unfortunately the course conditions were horrible. Tons of gopher holes, thick bumpy fairways, and a simple lack of mowing and easy maintenance. New owner definitely pinching pennys on maintenance. Greens were in good shape though.

Outside the snack bar overlooking the first Tee box.

Live music Sat and Sun, pretty back patio, nice food and drink specials. Lovely place to spend an afternoon. I don't know much about golf but it's fun to hit balls at the range and locals love the course.

Great golf course. Very chill. The restaurant is also very good. There are three separate nine whole courses, which makes it very fun.

This at one time was a beautiful course, it has really gone downhill. Poor maintenance is probably the hallmark of this course today.

I was able to find great deals on mini golf and arcade credits through Groupon, which definitely helped. There are tons of fun games, and the kids loved the arcade. They even managed to win prizes from the giant claw machine, which never happens, so that was a big highlight! They also have batting cages and water bumper cars, though the bumper cars were out of commission when we visited. I'd recommend eating beforehand and bringing your own drinks. The food is overpriced and not great quality. That said, the service was very friendly both at the food counter and in the arcade/ticket area.

The website will say "open," but weekday hours don't actually start until 2 PM, and that detail is buried further down. We found that out the hard way after finishing up at the pier around 11 and having to completely pivot our plans (including grabbing food elsewhere to hold the kids over). Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you're visiting from out of town. Once they did open though? Completely different story. We were greeted by Robert -- and honestly, he set the tone for the entire visit. He was the only one up front at first, but you wouldn't have known it based on how smoothly everything went. Friendly, attentive, and actually present. He helped us get set up, handled food, and still managed to keep an eye on everything else going on. And yes -- he made our pizzas fast, gave us a buzzer, and sent us on our way to enjoy the games instead of waiting around. That alone? Huge. We ended up doing the arcade route first, and this is where Boomer's really surprised me. I used a Groupon deal and paid $25 for 100 points, and it just so happened to be one of their half-off arcade days. So instead of games costing 3 points, they were 1.5 -- and the machines actually show you the discount clearly. That's smart business. The card system is also way better than old-school arcades. No paper tickets flying everywhere -- everything loads directly onto the card. And for once, we actually had enough points to get decent prizes. We walked out with a bunch of toys and plushies instead of the usual "you can afford a sticker and a piece of candy" situation. At one point, my son joked that a game was "rigged," and Robert immediately stepped in -- not in a defensive way, but in a "let me make sure this kid is having a good time" way. He showed him how the game worked, pointed out that he had already won multiple times, and turned it into a funny, reassuring moment instead of letting frustration build. That kind of attentiveness stands out. We also tried the go-karts (paid separately), and I'll say this: if you're even considering it, just go for the unlimited option. One round was enough to realize we wanted to get right back in line. The kids had a blast, and even with one riding with me, it was still a great experience. We ended up spending about 2.5 to 3 hours here between food, games, and rides -- and overall spent around $100. For everything we did, that's actually a really solid value. Especially compared to places like Scandia, where you can easily drop $200 without blinking. There was also a giant claw machine with oversized bouncy balls -- both of my boys won on their first try, which felt like a miracle in itself. We couldn't take them with us (overpacked car problems), so we gave them to another family with little ones. Unexpected wholesome moment. Overall vibe: * Not overly crowded (at least when we went) * Clean and easy to navigate * Systems are modern and efficient * Staff presence was light, but Robert carried the experience If I had one note, it would be the hours communication -- that part could be clearer upfront. But once you're inside, the experience makes up for it. We came in slightly thrown off by the timing... and left with happy kids, prizes, and zero regrets. And Robert? Give that man his flowers. He made a lasting impression without even trying to. All in all a great experience and 10/10 would recommend ! BUT THEY OPEN AT 2pm on weekdays ! REMEMBER THAT !

I remember being in 5th grade, last day of school and we were headed to the beach to camp for a week. On the way out of town I had a book report due on the Grip by Ben Hogan that I had to drop off at La Purísima. Jim has an unconventional style of teaching. Yes he can teach you the mechanics. That's easy. But where he excels and makes him world class is his ability to coach your mind to get around the golf course and also translates to life. Jim coached me all the way through my college playing days at Utah Valley University and then we took a 20 year break from working together because I stopped playing golf. Playing competitively from 10-23 and especially grinding in college put me into burn out. And I wasn't close to going Pro. So all my time went to my family, Goldman Sachs, furthering my education, and side fun jobs. As my career progressed I became a Financial Advisor and now also with older kids I can now get my game back. Naturally I went back to the GOAT who taught me as a kid. I live in Lake Tahoe now and he's in California. No problem because I have the game. I have the mechanics on how to play. I don't need help there. Where I need help is upstairs. Getting my mind dialed in and working on managing the course. We have been 2 years back at it and I went from a 10 handicap to a 5. I shot 74 today which I will post a pic of. I'm getting my game back and working through my mental game, preparation, dialing in my shots, and really playing respectable golf again. It's been a long time, since my college days, that I played decent golf. So no need to live on the central coast. Jim and I meet weekly on face time. We work through my challenges. He shares wisdom. He helps me with more high level techniques like using the bounce on my 60 degree to pitch the ball and make it land soft on the green. I have tons of stories, 39 years worth but i will stop here. Book Jim now! Best money you will have ever spend if you want to cut your handicap in half like I have. Now looking to cut it in half yet again and get to a 2. Play Well! Brian Cheney

I was frustrated at first because other instructors were often quickly frustrated that I did not know the basics. Jim was a breathe of fresh air!
