First time visiting Black's Beach. This spot was highly recommended by many. The hike down is incredibly steep, so pack light and wear sturdy shoes. We packed lunch, snacks and drinks for a Friday afternoon tanning session. Unfortunately it was overcast the who time we were there but the temperature was comfortable. We went to the right by the volleyball poles. It's clothing optional on this side so we stripped down to our birthday suits. Almost everyone around us were nude. My friend went for a dip, I was not brave enough. I only went need deep, water was not warm enough for me yet. It was very relaxing and comfortable. Will be back again with friends.

Gorgeous views here at this beach. Somewhat of a hike down to the actual beach itself, but once you're down, it's worth it.

Final stretch of my hike down.

Looking for a nice hike and a day at the beach all in one. Go for Blacks Beach located in Torrey Pines. Today was a nice busy day. Know what you're getting yourself into when you go, this is a nice beach. Great place for a full body tan. The hike down is worth it and the hike up will have your exercise rings closed for the day. Perfect for summer beach days.

Summer Nights in Blacks Beach, be prepared to enjoy your evening with a beautiful sunset. Definitely worth the hike back up to the parking lot.

Black's Beach is one of the nicest beaches. It is clothing optional!!! It's a place to be free and letting it all hangout- I love this beach. It is quite a hike down , but be prepared to be tired by the time you get back to your car. People are friendly, the waves are beautiful and it's a clean beach. I have never noticed anyone leaving their trash behind. There is free parking , keep in mind the road for the parking lot is not even so don't speed through.

Ask the Community - Black's Beach

Where do I go if I have to relieve myself? Hiking up to the top for the restroom I may not make it. I can understand peeing in the ocean but what if I have to poop? Bring a bag and go in it or dig a hole in the sand? Ocean? I have IBS.

If u really have to go and cant hold it dig a hole in sand and just go that's your only option you wouldnt be the first person to do it

Is it really clothing optional? Can I walk around naked?

Yes it is... it is a nude beach.. and if you want you can wear a bathing suit... there are always some with suits on... sometimes people need to take a slow transition into nudity.

Can a 7 months pregnant woman do this hike? I'm scared of heights but will brave it if physically possible.

No I wouldn't do it. Take the road from La Jolla Farms.

I am thinking of going this weekend. Is January too cold to be nude at Black's Beach?

I absolutely love Blacks beach any month & day I'm diego . As long as it's over 70 it's perfect ! I was there in November and they said it's too cold it was a perfect 75 and the ocean was still warm & cooler I'm certain parts . The beach is perfect…

Is it safe for a single girl visiting alone?

Yes! Just be smart like you would anywhere with surroundings. Go when it's light out and get back before the sunsets so it's light when you walk up the trail (you can watch sunset at the top by parking. Unobstructed). I felt really safe. Took my…

Where is the best entrance to park and is there free parking? Thank you.

The only entrance is the Torrey Pines Gliderport, you'll want to use that in your GPS as the destination. If you park as close as possible to the gated entrance, there's a staircase/steps down to the beach, but at the bottom you will need to hang a…

Can you take the hike to Black's Beach nude?

The path is used by all visitors. It is polite to be clothed while hiking up or down the trail.…

So what's the difference between the main and gay section? Are there any "rules" that apply?

Trying to tan my upper body/torso w/o tan lines and w/o offending anybody - is the whole beach clothing optional or only sections ? 🙏🏼

Once you get down the cliff you'll see where groups form of clothed and non clothed. It's all clothing optional but you might feel more comfortable scanning the area first.

    Can you do bonfires?

Yes, I believe so. Otherwise, pay attention to any beach notices you may see.

What is the weather like in late April/early May? Was wondering if it would be warm enough to enjoy .

Depends on the weather. We have "May Grey" and "June Gloom" here. Its been a wetter than average (by san diego standards) winter here. If you are adventerous, take a tent or cover of some sort. Water temps are another issue and will likely lead…

Any problem if i have an erection while walking nufe?

Sporting an erection while nude may pose some problems. Nudism/Naturism is about body freedom, minus the eroticism or sexual innuendos. Sexuality/erotica is human nature, but keep the sex in a tent and conceal the stiffy for your own sake :-).

Do they allow service animals?? I have a dog

Dogs are allowed before 9 am and after 6 pm.

I there some type of etiquette for taking photos or video (women were using Iphones pretty freely)?

I think it's common sense to use discretionand respect for the privacy of others. Think of these women as you would your own family members. We took pictures of ourselves, but if you are a nudist at heart I guess it doesn't matter. It's a coin toss.

Is it a dog friendly beach?

Nope...life guards in trucks will ask you to leave

    Where are the restrooms?

There aren't any. This isn't a public beach as you would think of one. You have to hike down to the beach and there are no public facilities. That said, still the best beach to go to.

I'm confused, is this a nude beach or no?

If you go down the stairs to the beach(from the glider port area) ... to the left is not nude ..... immediate right is straight nude beach and to far right is gay nude beach .. .. you will see naked people on your journey though ... be warned lol

I really enjoy the beautiful gardens, historic buildings, and unique Spanish style architecture. The area around the California Tower is especially beautiful. Walking around here and taking in the peaceful atmosphere is always a nice experience. I usually park in one of the parking lots inside the park (around $10). If you are lucky, you may find free parking in the surrounding areas, but honestly, parking can be difficult, especially on busy days. What I like most about Balboa Park is that you don't need to visit all the museums to enjoy this place. You can simply walk around, enjoy the gardens, take pictures, and relax. One thing to keep in mind is that the park is very large. If you don't plan ahead, you may end up walking more than expected. But that is also what makes this place special , every visit gives you a chance to see something different.

The parking lot did not have space available on a Monday afternoon, but we found free street parking in the neighborhood a couple blocks away. Restrooms and wash stations were located near the playground and grassy field, and lifeguards were on duty with the beach crowd stretching for miles on this warm summer afternoon. We walked toward the sand castle house and settled where it was a little more secluded from all the loud families with kids near the main park. And the water was nice and warm with gentle waves as we swam and waded along the shore to cool off from the humidity and heat of the sun. We also relaxed and napped on our beach mat while picnicking in the sand under the shade of an umbrella we brought, a life saver with the sunshine beaming from above. The La Jolla Underwater Park and Ecological Reserve are cool features to this beach area as well, though snorkeling gear is helpful for exploring in more depth. They seem to offer kayak rentals on site too, with plenty of visitors enjoying watersports while we were there. The place was more congested than we had hoped on a weekday, but all in all, we still had a good time.

Took my snorkel gear and saw a ton of leopard sharks and stingrays so close to the beach! There was plenty of people around and lots of groups trying to catch a glimpse of the leopard sharks as well. The beach had a ton of people but it was very safe. There was a long wall where people were leaving some belongings while they were in the water so I also left my towel, shoes, etc there and I had no issues with my stuff even though I was by myself so I didn't have anyone to watch it. I also lucked out and got a parking spot right in front of the beach even though cars were circling quite a bit to find spots. I actually was going straight from the beach to the airport so I had my suitcase and all my belongings in the trunk of my car and it was safe while I was at the beach all day (a miracle for someone coming from the Bay Area LOL). The beach also had lots of rinse of stations so I was able to rinse off, get dry, change, and head to the airport!

It's the kind of place that creates a connection, not just with nature, but also with the people who appreciate its unique charm. Unlike many traditional sandy beaches, Windansea's rocky shoreline gives it a unique character. Walking along the coast, watching waves crash against the rocks, and seeing surfers embrace the powerful ocean made the experience unforgettable. I've visited countless beaches around the world, and Windansea Beach easily ranks among my top 10 favorites. From the moment I arrived, I could feel a different kind of energy.
