Stopped having our vehicles serviced by Black's Tire in Dunn, about five years ago, due to slow and expensive service. Gave them another shot today, only to find that they still are. A $59.00 fee to simply change the oil and filter that I provided, while taking over an hour to do so, is entirely unacceptable. They made a young man wait over three hours to have four tires installed on his truck. This fella had already been waiting for over two hours when I arrived. I have never seen a less qualified person, placed in the position of business manager and I don't know why the business owners would do so. It is my opinion that whoever gave a positive review to this business must be either a relative or a work of fiction. It is what it is. I don't need your apology or unfounded explanation. As a military retiree whom have dedicated my life to the service of this country I expected a baseline of professional courtesy at Blacks Tire, Dunn, NC. I was met with a level of indifference that was not only unprofessional but felt pointed dismissive. Spending $805.00 is a significant amount of money and at least you would expect at least a "thank you." After spending that significant sum on four new Goodyear tires my exit conversation consisted of a single "Your tire warranty is in the envelope." That raised a serious question about the culture and biases within the business. It seems as if the "unthanked" and my presence was merely a toleration. I can't help but wonder if my race had been different would the treatment been the same. If a business cannot tell a customer "thank you" they don't deserve the privilege of serving the public. I have historically avoided small business like this for the exact reason. I normally complete my transactions on a military base or a Toyota dealership that offers a standard level of professionalism. However, I took a chance on Blacks Tire, Dunn, NC based solely on a recommendation from USAA Insurance Perks referral. Update! I went today for my rescheduled appt and My God, the atmosphere was different and even felt different. The young lady at the front greeted me with a smile and was very helpful and informative. Additionally, she treated everyone with a smile throughout her interaction. The service personnel, Brian, was very helpful and informative as well and kept me updated every step of the way. While traveling from Maryland to Florida, we had a belt break on our car. Blacks staff were fantastic! They got our car in immediately, repaired the car and got us back on the road in about an hour! I was in Dunn visiting from out of state and apparently I drove over a piece of metal that decided to get stuck in the tread of my tire. I called Black Tire and asked if they could repair the tire and they told me to bring it in and they would see if it could be fixed. I needed 2 tires balanced and my tires rotate. They took my truck in immediately upon arrival and it took 1hr and 25 minutes. Ridiculous! When I got my truck back I found out why it took so long. They went through the display and reset both of the mileage trip meters and who knows what else. Their guy was back there screwing around with things he had no business touching in the first place. I took my Mazda to Black's Tires on February 27, 2025, for a simple tire installation. While my car was in their possession, my Mazda Connected Services app alerted me that my hood was opened without my permission, followed by a notification about a low oil level--despite having an oil change at the dealership just days prior. Shortly after, the shop called me, claiming my engine oil was low and offering an oil change. When I arrived to pick up my car, my coolant reservoir cap was tampered with and was left open, and my oil level was low enough that I had to purchase oil to top it off. When I confronted the store, they denied any wrongdoing. This level of dishonesty and unauthorized tampering is unacceptable, and I am taking my car to the dealership to ensure no damage was done. read more

The mechanic was honest and said he could plug the tire instead of charging us for a new one. That is RARE and SO appreciated!! Every time we take our automobiles there, we are never disappointed. Blacks tire in Dunn, NC They told me to come at 3 pm after school then we get there and they say come back tomorrow. Why tell a customer to come at 3 then tell them to leave. He said ok wait let's see if we can do it. 4:30 they take the care to balance the tires. He charged me to balance my tires but they left the passenger rear tire out and the next morning the rim ate the tire! It was cut by the rim shredded and I had to get a new tire. I called and they refunded my money but that is not paying for my time, the tire or the complete incompetent service! I am glad I was not on the highway when this happened. Thankfully we got two new tires and a true balanced tire service from another tire shop. read more

If I lived closer to a Black's Tire, they would be my number one stop for all of my regular vehicle maintenance that I can't do myself. This shop is particularly good. It being a little ways out in Dunn, you don't have to deal with the crowds that frequent the locations in Fayetteville or the other bigger cities. The staff is very helpful, and easygoing. The manager is particularly good at getting on your level when discussing what your car needs. You often feel like you're getting led on when you go to repair shops but I've never felt that way here. I got four new tires installed and balanced at a reasonable price - remember that you don't HAVE to go with the Goodyears that they clearly have a relationship with here. I got Falkens, for example. You can order any tires and they'll put them on for you. The waiting area is large and spread-out with plenty of seating, including a table with chairs. There's vending and WiFi if you need to work while you're here. read more

On 5/18/23 I dropped my car off at Black's Tire & Auto Service in Dunn, NC due to a flashing check engine light and acceleration issues. After being without transportation for 86 days, not offered alternate transportation, given misinformation, and had to constantly follow-up with the team for updates after paying 2,103.29 for a service I remained patient. I am terribly disappointed in the lack of professionalism, customer service and general care that I experienced throughout the course of this entire ordeal. Despite the company's slogan "Black's Has Your Back" it felt like no one had my back after months of my ongoing car repairs going unprioritized. Took my work vehicle in to have my brakes replaced for the second time in three months. After the first brake job the brakes pads were gone, metal on metal.(Explain that?) They replaced everything under warranty but in the process my 250.00$ Bosch impact drill disappeared out of my truck. When I spoke to the manager the first thing out of his mouth was,( We don't have cameras.) I'm very thorough when it comes to my tools and I know it disappeared while I was there. I sent my son to get an oil change on his Audi on 4/14/2022, he was told that they couldn't get the bolt off to change the filter so they ONLY changed the oil, still charging $80 for the services. My son got 5 minutes down the road when the car knocked off and wouldn't start with his oil pressure light on. He called his father who was a NON licensed mechanic, he took the bolt and filter off laying beside the road sound so. On 4/15/2022 I went to talk to a manager about why a NON licensed mechanic could get a bolt off and they couldn't and why my son was charged full price for a service they didn't do correctly, he only answer was they couldn't get the he bolt off and he surely charged him full price and maybe next time I should have the oil changed instead of sending my 22 year old son. The employee was rude and unprofessional he eventually ended up calling the police on me because I demanded answers, he called it being irate. Let me pose a question to you: when something stops working on a vehicle that has worked fully before and you take it to be fixed, you would expect it to be fixed back to working condition in a manner that it previously worked, yes? Let's say an air conditioner on a SUV that operated fine and all of a sudden it quits or just works very limited-you take it to a professional who can restore it to normal working condition but when you get the SUV it only operates on a limited function,barely above the broken condition and get told by a woman who I am assume is the manager Tabitha that it's basically good enough and that it works better than it did when it first arrives--umm what?! How is this proper customer service?! Then you give them a second chance to fix their mistake and she tries to charge you AGAIN for something that should've been fixed the first time! Finally they decide they can't fix it, and puts the old part back on and doesn't refund you any money. Please seek another place to do your business. I went to Black's Tire & Auto Service for a tire rotation and an alignment this past Saturday. When I got my car back, it had been aligned, but the tires were in the EXACT SAME position they were in when I took it in-although I paid for both a tire rotation and an alignment. Did they think that I was not going to notice? I called back Monday morning and the guy who answered said he did not work on Saturday and could not say why they had not been rotated and to please bring my car back in. I took my car BACK in on Tuesday afternoon. The front desk clerk tells me that she had "gotten on" the technician for not reading the work order...Oh, okay. They took my car back and after a few minutes another woman comes up front and tells me that research has shown that the best tires should be on the back and that was currently where they were located. Are you serious???!!! At that point I'm thinking, you have charged me for a service that you did not provide and now the SECOND time that you have my car at the back you are going to tell me about some research!?! And if that is the case, why didn't you say that the first time and why did you charge me? I called my husband and he immediately said to tell them to refund my money! She provided the refund along with a printout of a quote for new tires. You can't be serious because why would I trust you to put new tires on when you can't or refuse to rotate the ones that I have? I leave and about 10 minutes later I get a call from them saying that the technician did not put the lug nuts back on the tires!!! I said "What, are my tires going to come off of my car?" and she said no. I proceeded to tell her that I could not come back that afternoon but would return before I went to work Wednesday morning. I went back for the THIRD time on Wednesday morning and the technician said that they he was unaware that they had brought my car to the front before he had a chance to put them back on. He actually had to put the lug nut COVERS on, but that is not the terminology she used.
