I had a tire blow out just above the state line in NC during a long trip on I-95. I limped to a safe area and threw on the temporary spare but knew I needed a good replacement. I called ahead to Black's and they had a matching replacement tire in stock. They were ready for me when I arrived and did a great job quickly mounting and balancing the new tire and putting my spare back under the truck. I have been going to Black's for years - I have loved their service. But there has been a change in management at this location, and the results are not good. In my last two oil changes, they did not change the fluids or do all of the checks they were supposed to do. After this past oil change, I have had to add oil two times. I recently needed help with service and I had to leave, because the customer service has simply disappeared. read more

So, my sister has been getting her oil changed here for 15 years. Yesterday, during her routine oil change, she was notified that she needed a new oil pan because the drain plug was stripped by the service tech. The service tech wanted to make it right, but the manager refused...they denied it was their fault, refused to accept responsibility, and charged her $285. They even charged her labor to install the new oil pan! This is unacceptable and she will never use this business again! I recommend everyone else do the same. read more

HORRIBLE - not rotating tires when they say they do On January 9th my husband had a oil change at Blacks on Palmetto Street in Florence. He had asked for a tire rotation and it showed on his itemized receipt that the tires were rotated. However, he ahs one tire that is newer and noticed after leaving that the tires were in fact NOT rotated. Fast forward to April 7th and I visited the 2299 S Irby St, Florence, SC 29501 location for a oil change, tire patch for rear drivers side, and rotation. Receipt noted tire rotation was done. Yesterday April 20tth, I had a flat on my rear drivers side as the screw was STILL in my tire and the tires had NOT been rotated as my receipt stated. So today, April 21st, I take my vehicle back to have the tire patched and tires rotated. I also marked my tires so that I would know if the job was completed. Imagine my shock, anger, and disbelief when I got my vehicle and only the drivers side had been rotated but NOT the passenger side. I have expressed my frustration with the local store and they proceeded to review the cameras (thanks for not believing me) and said there was confusion on which tires needed to be rotated. You don't just rotate 2 tires. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Lost my business, as well as my husbands, families and probably a lot that are on social media. Absolutely absurd that I have to go in twice and the job isn't even complete. read more

Fabulous service and honest! We broke down on 95 and had to get a tire and we paid what everyone else from town would have. Amazing? Not for these guys. They are a local company that has several stores in and around town. They've built up a business with a solid, loyal clientele and you don't get that by charging crazy prices. They tell you what you need and you make the choice. Along with in-store service, they also have road side service in case you can't limp your car in to them. Paul runs the shop with Bob and they are knowledgeable and personable. They will make sure that you can get in and out in a reasonable time with no pushy salesmen selling upgrades and they only have new, brand name tires. You will be motoring along in no time with quality merchandise so put their number in your cell. They are keepers. read more

I experienced a tire blow out on I-20 about 25 miles West of Florence. After calling 6 different local tire stores, I was referred to the Black's Tire & Auto store on South Irby Street. Wayne Mears answered and walked me through what I needed to do to get the shuttle bus to his location. Once there, the team at Black's Tire & Auto replaced the tire with new and had me back on my way to Southport, NC in about an hour. Wayne's professionalism and customer service acumen are second to none. I would highly recommend Black's Tire & Auto on South Irby Street in Florence for anyone needing tire service. On the morning of December 10th at approximately 9:00 am, I dropped my car off at Black's Tire for service. They were to replace the struts (which I provided) and service the radiator. As part of the radiator service, I had replacement hoses, since I figured it would be easy to replace, given that the radiator was already drained and did not need additional fluid. Replacing radiator hoses is a routine, easy job, so if it was difficult someone should have informed me. At approximately 11:30, they told me the struts were done and they were moving on to the radiator service. Shortly thereafter, a repairman came out to tell me 2 out of the 4 hoses did not fit. After waiting for 3 hours, I walk out and my car is done finally. No one tells me that it is done. When I look at the bill, there is a $180+ labor charge for replacing the hose. NO ONE told me that it was going to be a 2-3 hour job and cost nearly $200 in labor. NO ONE in their right mind would pay nearly $200 and waste 2-3 hours to replace a hose that did not need replaced IF they had been told about it. Therefore, I did NOT give authorization to do that part of the service since I had NO idea how long or the cost. Discussing it with the manager got me no where. When I got home, I attempted to call the Corporate Office. However, no one there had any clue to whom I needed to speak, how to contact them, etc. Therefore, I am left here. IF the serviceman had done his job and told me the time/cost, I would NOT have had the service. However, because he did not, I am left with a $200 bill for something I would not have paid to get done This is not the first problem I have had with them, but it is the last. read more

very poor service. took them two and a half hours to change a tire. they scratched my 20 inch rim very badly. my wife showed up two hrs before she had to go to work. they said they will have it done before 3. they finished her up at four oclock. will never use these people again. my rim is scratched up beyond repair. good job. not read more
