The meringue seemed like it may have been sitting out too long, as it was no longer crispy. But there were so many amazing pastries to choose from, so definitely lots of variety. Been here countless number of times and despite their high prices, they remain one of my favourite places in Langley! Yes, the prices have gone up overnight and their points system have changed drastically but they make pretty amazing pastries and coffee. They are always packed and their service is good. Stopped in for breakfast and iced coffee drinks. My wife had the breakfast sandwich and I chose the eggs Benedict. The food was excellent and the service was very fast even considering the restaurant was extremely busy. Very nice restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a cute little cafe with a decent amount of indoor seating and a couple tables outside. You order at the counter and pick up your own drinks and pastries, but prepared food comes to the table! Everyone in my crew was pleased with their lunch. I especially loved my croque madame! We found the service friendly and efficient. I will be back to try more options when I'm in the area. read more

Came here because the queue to Wendel's was so long. The line here was still long but moved much faster and we were able to order without any fuss. The prices are quite high but they seem standard for cafes around Fort Langley. The display of the baked goods can be seen from the outside and they looked to die for! It's a little loud inside so we ate on a bench across the street. We ended up ordering the pain au chocolat and croque monsieur. To be honest, the croque monsieur split between 2 was the perfect portion size since it's pretty cheesy and rich. Amazing cheese pull. I doubt I would've been able to finish it if I had it on my own. They do give pepper to go and the potatoes are better with that added. The pain au chocolat was flaky and very yummy. Would recommend and if I was ever back in Fort Langley, I'd get another baked good. read more

Oh yes! This bakery is busy for a reason. We came for dunch (early dinner/late lunch) and it was no surprise that there was a constant line out the door at Blacksmith Bakery. We ordered the Bee Sting pizza, Guinness Bailey cake and Iced Chai. What a lovely meal. The pizza came out pipping hot, it was drizzled in honey that complimented the soppressata and olives surrounded my mounds of gewy cheese. Can I say it was a sweet and salty hot mess of delicious. The Guinness Bailey cake was sitting in the window staring at us to share. And every bite was rich and decadent. It made the perfect dessert before food item. It's a lovely bakery, the pizza was amazing, everyone was friendly and I can't wait to come back! read more

So I've visited this part of Langley 3 or 4 times now, as my kids and I find the town simply charming. And every time we've been to Langley, this particular bakery has always been the most popular bakery/cafe in town. No exaggeration. There has always been a line outside, and from the snippets of conversations I've heard, many of the people who line up are locals and regulars. That says a lot to me! I've never eaten lunch here, but whenever we're in town, we always come here to pick up some baked treats. And they've always been wonderful! They have beautiful cakes and tarts, dessert bars, danishes, cookies... you name it, they have it. And they're all amazing! The other day when we were here, I got a beautiful meringue cookie to go, and my kid ordered a "turtle" cookie. I was under the impression that the turtle cookie would be a "normal" cookie but make with chocolate and caramel, like the "Turtle" chocolates you get in a box. Imagine my surprise when, on the drive home, I turn to see my 21 yo daughter wearing a large turtle-shaped sugar cookie with icing, suspended from a string, being worn as a necklace. LOL I guess this bakery sells turtle cookie necklaces. SO cute! (I had hoped to take a picture of this cute cookie on a string, but my kid ate it. She said it was delicious). This bakery is my family's go-to place in town to get treats. It's never let us down. read more

Stick to the pastries! I came in on a weekday for brunch and it was quite busy at 10:45am. I got a chocolate croissant ($4) and the Blacksmith Benedict ($16) There was seating in the backroom but luckily a table outside opened up The pain au Chocolate was the best, it was flaky and light As for the Benedict, the Prosciutto was cooked, so it was tough and too chewy to eat. The eggs were done right but the Hollandaise sauce tasted like it was premade from powder. I didn't taste any hint of truffle overall, I was quite disappointed with this dish. read more

A great place for baked goods in Fort Langley! We came here in the middle of a Sunday afternoon and they were starting to sell out of quite a few of their bakery items. We got a ham and cheese croissant, a fruit tart, and a third dessert I couldn't remember the name of. They were all delicious! Friendly staff with a cute interior! Atmosphere was nice. Girl serving at the front was pretty rude. I ordered a flat white which was good and a blacksmith benny. The Benny was good, a bit too salty but that's likely unavoidable with the procuitto. The roasted potatoes were aweful. They should have been cooked more and there was no sauce to go with them that they were just dry. It came with hollandaise but bot enough and it was tasteless. Probably wouldn't recommend. The pastries look good but I wouldn't pay $18 for a sub par breakfast. Also there weren't signs for free wifi anywhere and it's a breakfast spot so it should have free wifi. read more

This bakery is very cute but I wouldn't recommend going in if you are concerned about allergies. We went in looking for an on the go snack that was gluten free due to the seating being full. We chose the "dark chocolate (gf) cookie" because we thought that it would be a safe choice for both of us. As it advertised as being gluten free and just a dark chocolate cookie. The cookie unknown to us had walnuts in it. I did not know that it did after I had tried the dessert. I personally am allergic to walnuts and I tried the cookie only in good faith that it had no nuts. Sadly this resulted in an allergic reaction. It was only once I looked online that I read within their section of cookies that it was confirmed walnuts. What we were also concerned with is that the dark chocolate and walnut cookie is not labeled online as a gluten free option. So we are unsure as to if we got a gluten free cookie or not. The barista was unable to tell me the topping on top of a cake as to if it was a butter cream or cream cheese option. So I don't recommend this shop if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. I ventured out to Fort Langley for a coffee date with friends. I ordered the Butterfly Blue Matcha Latte! It really is a beautiful drink! As pretty as it looked, it also tasted great. My friends ordered a regular Latte and an Americano as their drinks, along with a White Chocolate Cranberry Scone and Double Baked Hazelnut Croissant. Everything was perfect and delicious. The staff is unbelievably rude. Unbelievable. I haven't experienced this level of horrid service in decades. They have unclear signage around their covid procedures. I witnessed a couple step in out of the rain and be screamed (like raised his voice - this is not an over-exaggeration by some "Yelp Troll... he screamed) at by some middle-aged man, maybe a manager. They didn't hear him; then he proceeded to say "F#@$ You" over and over behind his little plexiglass partition. The two other girls beside him laughed at his outburst. I felt terrible for the couple. Shame, great location, good food, but they don't belong in Fort Langley if they keep this up. Not welcome in this community with that attitude. I get it, COVID, I get it you are tired, I get it they were putting everyone at risk by stepping in and things being overcapacity. But no situation warrants swearing at people. Until I am alerted of an proper apology and a commitment to change. The staff was friendly and amazing, making this place a MUST VISIT whenever you're in Fort Langley!!! It does get a little packed but we were able to grab a table within minutes after we order. Here are a few items we tried and loved: Chef Special Choux Bomb...with honey cream, cassis gelee, and candied almonds...it's what I imagine what clouds taste like! The Chocolate Nemesis is the richest GF dark chocolate cake! Double Baked Hazelnut Croissant...OMG I don't know what sorcery they performed on this thing but can I have 500 of them! I love Fort Langley, and this cafe / bakery is one of the reason. I've been to this cafe several times now and never disappoints. I've had their almond croissant, my usual go to at bakeries. I've also tried their turkey sandwich and salad. Food and pastry is very good no complaints. They also carry Stumptown coffee which Im a big fan of. Lots of seating inside and out. The service sometimes is a little slow, line ups can get long but worth it. If you're in the area check it out. read more

I love this bakery especially the lemon cronut and crispy croissant with bacon and cheese. The cronut is the best that I have never had especially that it is better than the donuts from Tim Hortons or Krispy Kreme. If I really want to eat something unhealthy to spoil myself, this cronut must be the one! The croissant with bacon and cheese is amazing that both bacon and cheese are embedded in the croissant. Usually bakeries or cafes cut the croissants in half, stuff other ingredients like ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and others into the croissant but Blacksmith Bakery bakes the croissant with bacon and cheese together. I tried this bakery once before for a tea latte and after the wait was given a coffee latte. Then went back to get the tea latte and it did not taste that good especially for the $5. It wasn't sweet enough nor did it have enough flavour. I realize tea isn't their specialty but still then the price should reflect it. However the bakery items looked delish and I saw they had pizza so after reading reviews, decided to try pizza. They allowed me to preorder but I came in early and scanned the desserts. I ended up getting these tall doughnut like desserts as a lady said they were really good but light and flaky. Got the pizza in approximately 15-20 minutes and brought it home to devour. It was SOOOOO DELICIOUS! I am a pizza lover and was very impressed. I wish they had a variety of meat and veggie toppings such as sausage, bacon, peppers, mushrooms, onions, etc. They should really have a separate place in Willoughby or another area just for their pizza, the crust was perfect with rich tomatoey sauce. I can't wait to have it again. As for the tall doughnuts, they also were really good but I would've liked a bit more sweetness or glaze inside ... sugar, cinnamon, butter .... Something more would've made then to die for. They were light and fluffy plus at $4 not hard on the pocket. This is a really nice bakery that would do well in any urban center. Located in an historic building, it has loads of character. Too bad it's in the boonies for a city girl like me. Maybe that's a good thing because I would be here way too much. Trying to stay on my low carb/sugar diet, I ordered a mushroom soup with muitigrain bread. While it was an unexpected orange colour, the taste was divine. It was a busy place and had a quieter area in the back to sit and watch the food being prepared. Seats and tables outside for people watching too. In the interests of research, I ordered a kouign amann. It was the best I have ever tasted. It's gone downhill and fast. Over the last year I have found the service and the quality going downhill but today I was done trying to give them another chance. The latte was lukewarm at best and the cheese croissants were horrible. Flat and super greasy. I mean the plate and napkin were soaked in grease and you could wring out the thing like a dish towel full of grease. I'm sorry but $13.17 for a lukewarm latte and two sponges of grease is a huge waste. Sadly their "friendly customer service " is also not worth the drive there. read more

I heard many great things about this places and the photos looks amazing! And the moment you walk in, you're hit by a WALL of deliciousness. They serve pizzas and other sandwiches here and from the moment you walk in, you smell a mixture of cheese and cured meats, with a hint of baking. Seems weird but it smells ridiculously good in here! Except ... my 2 start rating is the gentleman that was on the bar when we were there was extremely rude. We asked a simple question as to which coffee is which and we got "its coffee, have you never been to a coffee shop before?" I am not sure what we did to offend him, but all we wanted to know out of the 4 drinks on the bar which would be ours? Maybe we did not fit into the atmosphere and other clientele? Who knows?? Nowadays so many of us rely on social media and the likes to find the next food spot; I saw a friend post about this place and thought, that I wanted to come here too after seeing their Lime and Coconut meringue croissant. After doing a little research, I realized that the croissant was a limited edition item so didn't think too much about it since I missed a chance to try something that I wanted to try however, we ended up driving here for our weekend hangout anyways. I love how spacious the place is with it's long communal table and options for more private spacing. I'm a sucker for quotes and appreciate the random quote decor in the place, even with the neon light signs. We got an order of the truly chocolate cake as well as a cup of the nitro cold brew. I'm usually more of a fruit cake type of person and chocolate is usually my last choice since I much prefer it with a cup of milk on the side but lactose intolerant problems... you can't always get what you want in life. But best decision of the day, following that friend's recommendation! The chocolate cake was smooth and not heavy. The bottom layer is actually cake which provided a good balance for the mousse. I'm also not a fan of cold brew just because of how acidic it can get. (Yes, I realized we got all of the things I wouldn't usually get but sometimes you just have to compromise when you're sharing items). The cold brew was creamy and went really well with the thick cake. I didn't try it on it's own so not sure how acidic it was. Would definitely come back here for the chocolate cake, I'm a changed person for this shop! It would be nice to see them have a better system for their disposals though since things are placed in slanted bins which were a little high for me to see and there was still water in our cups so couldn't tell if I was going to make a mess or not dropping utensils into it. Also wish that there would've been signage for their pastry items. Us as well as the parties before us and the ones that we noticed come after us had to ask which cakes and pastries were which. They also sold meringues which were in a glass right at the door but the flavours weren't clear. I heard a family ask and the cashier said "brown sugar and coconut" and when they ordered, the family repeated exactly that but the cashier corrected that it was two different flavors, "brown sugar OR coconut" so it would've been helpful to see some signs. We ran into the same problem when getting the truly chocolate cake as the cashier had asked me which one... I didn't even know where was more than one but anything brown based in chocolate, right? What happened to this place? Blacksmith used to be my favourite coffee shop in the Ft. Langley area, and I used to tell everyone about it, but for the past two years their shop has taken a bit of a slow nosedive.... * Croissants used to be fresh and buttery. Now they're always overcooked. * They used to have a giant display for baked goods. When I was in last, it's now just a table top with leftover pastries on a cooking rack. I even spotted some dirty rags in the corner about five feet away. * The quality of espresso drinks have gone downhill. * When the shop first opened, it looked rustic and uniform. Piece by piece, new decor and paintings were added to the cafe that have absolutely nothing in common. I think the shop suffers from an identity crisis. read more

A small business I want to love. But both times there were problems with both incompetent service and bad coffee. First time in was around 2pm on a Sunday. Sign on the door said 'Wait and someone will come get you.' (Covid protocol). No problem about this but after a few minutes it was clear no one was coming. So I let myself in. A few minutes later I order a decaf latte. It took over 10 minutes for my drink to be made. I was now at the cafe for over 15 minutes. I just wanted a coffee to go. The young person working was doing her best but didn't seem to be moving very fast for a cafe. Most barristas move fast when it's busy! My drink comes and I ask 'This is decafe right?' Nope. They made a mistake. So now I wait longer while she makes a new one. The decaf latte wasn't even good after a 20 minute ordeal. Too acidic and earthy to enjoy. Second time I'm there I order an Eggnog latte. It's 4pm and busy. I wait ten minutes for my drink to be made. Holy heck! A repeat of last time. So I ask the cashier if my order got lost, as people who ordered behind me are getting drinks. Yep. This is what happened. But now a lady comes in complaining about the tea she got a fee minutes ago and that it's cold. They stop everything and make her a new one. There's like, 8 people waiting for drinks at this point. 15 minutes after I get the Eggnog latte and it's WAY too sweet. Almost sickly sweet and undrinkable. Starbucks Eggnog lattes aren't sweet at all and eggnog itself its overly sweet either. I'd recommend one of the other coffee shops in the Fort next time you're there. read more

Everyone is very friendly here. The coffee is good, and I had the carrot cake which had layers of whipped goodness between the cake layers. They have a great selection of baked goods to take home for tomorrow morning's breakfast. Oh - and they have two separate rooms for seating. We saw the big line, the good Yelp reviews and we were excited for lunch. Their ham and cheese croissant was bad. Croissant is supposed to be flaky... and there was just a lump of ham in the middle. Then ordered a turkey sandwich, can't remember it's name it's the first sandwich on the board. It was lack lustre and bland. I was starving and only ate half to be polite. Pretty damn disappointed.
