    Pumpkin cheesecake pie
    Celine L.

We ordered a pumpkin cheesecake pie that was a limited time seasonal offer for Thanksgiving dinner. The pie was really cute with the little pumpkin and leaf cut-outs of gingerbread molasses cookie on top. I enjoyed the pumpkin cheesecake portion, as it had great flavour and had depth. I found the crust to be a bit thick in some areas or uneven and the whipped cream topping to be too much personally. The pie is quite sweet and it comes with a higher price tag of $40. It was still a great addition to end off our meal though!

I have always like the pies here but usually get them at the port moody outlet. We happened to walk past recently and decided to pop in for a while. I got the key lime pie and the sour cream coffee cake to try. The sour cream coffee cake was still warm and it was da bomb! I would say this is my favorite thing on the menu. It warm soft and moist with bits of berries and nuts and a crumbly top. All so delightfully tasty. The key lime pie was good too though I felt it was a bit on the heavy side. A bit dense and not as tart when compared to my other favorite pie shop. I had tried the crostata before and it was ok. Their coffee was good. A lovely place for a light meal and sweets with a drink.

I had a great experience at this Burnaby location of Gabi & Jules. The servers are friendly. They always smile. How can you be grouchy at a place like this. The smell of freshly baked goodies lingers in the air. I tried the roasted honey and peach crostata. The dough is sweet, crunchy and flaky. There's right amount of filing which balances with the right thickness of the dough. The honey was well roasted. It does not have that burnt taste. The crostata was perfectly baked! The peach-strawberry-ginger smoothies was recommended by the server. It was the right choice. The ginger adds spice to the fruits which made it more interesting and refreshing. The place is very clean. And there's ample sitting inside and outside. I will for sure come back to sample the savoury crostata and other drinks. I highly recommend this place.

Love this cute cafe with cozy decor and great tasting coffee and baked goods. I ordered their signature Gabi and carrot cake, very delicious! Bonus for the shopaholic, you can browse thru lots of fun merchandise and sassy coffee mugs or yummy take home snacks here. Great place to buy the "just because" gifts. If you are like me and absolutely love carrot cakes then no hesitation, go try their carrot cake (see photo for the thousand words)! Freshly baked with nuts and frosting, beautifully decorated with a little carrot on top. This place is quite busy, with customers lining up to pick up pre-order pies, coffee and home made baked goods so you may need to sit outside if you wish to enjoy your coffee in house and chat for a while with pals. As there's only one big table plus limited bar seating for dining in the cafe. Notes to self for my next order: London Fog, croissant and a slice of their pie!

Visited Gabi & Jules for the first time and the staff was very friendly and attentive. As part of a Yelp elite event, I received a complimentary strawberry peach ginger smoothie and Gruyère pesto crostata. Both were very tasty. I loved the flaky buttery pastry of the crostata and the smoothie was not too sweet and very refreshing! I also purchased a slice of strawberry rhubarb apple pie, which was tart and sweet. I enjoyed it although I thought it wasn't hot enough even after asking for it to be reheated twice. We mainly wanted the pie but by coincidence they were having a summer deal where they give you a complimentary drink with a slice of pie. We got the cold brew. It was not bad but I thought their strawberry peach smoothie was better!

Super buttery, flakey pie crusts. I tried the butter chicken pie $18 (feeds 1-2 ppl) and it was intense. This was perfect for sharing and having with a small salad on the side. I want to try their regular chicken pot pie next time. Great little addition to the neighborhood.

A definite Jewel in the Burnaby Heights area! Gabi and Jules took over this Burnaby Heights location (Hastings and Alpha) from their sister cafe - Caffe Divano They have hot pink patio umbrellas outside, so can't miss it! My go-to is their sweet pies and their carrot cakes The pastries are all displayed clearly with price tags, and staff are ready to help with any questions You can also find other pastries like scones, squares, cookies, crostadas. bread GJ also have homemade jams, take and bake pies, bake at home jars, Pallet Coffee beans, homemade ketchup, and even croutons! This is a perfect place for takeout, or sit down and chit chat over treats. The seating area inside is very welcoming and there's also tables set up outside The latest pie I have tried is their Strawberry, peaches and cream pie. What a great combination, its fruity and creamy all in one. The crust is buttery and flaky and smells divine. In terms of parking, there's lots of street parking out front and also a small lot in the back of the building Slowly working my way through all the coffee & treats, the crostadas look so good!

Came here with my partner for a late breakfast snack. We ordered the Ham & Brie Croissant, Spinach and Artichoke Crostata, and Spanish Latte. Everything tasted amazing, especially the Ham & Brie Croissant! The atmosphere was cozy and lovely, and staff were very friendly. My partner and I loved the decor and the merchandise table that had a few things that made us chuckle. Thank you to Yelp and Gabi & Jules for providing the opportunity for us to try your delicious pastries and drinks!

There are so many hidden gems in the Burnaby Heights area and Gabi & Jules is one of them. They have a wide range of pastries and drink selections. There are seatings both outside and inside the restaurant which makes it a good place for brunch or coffee date. We got a peach crostata, spinach and artichoke crostata, a latte and strawberry lemonade for brunch. The crust for the crostatas are flakey and crispy! The sweet crostata wasn't overly sweet but I don't love love the spinach and artichoke one. I just like the sweet one more, personal preference. My husband likes the savoury one more than my sweet one so take your pick. My lemonade was on the sweet side but their latte is pretty good though. Their crostatas are around $7 which is decently priced and croissants are around $4+. I really want to try their Brie croissant and their potato loaded crostata next time. Definitely worth a try.

Went for breakfast this morning and was very impressed by this establishment. It's a cute pink cafe that makes one feel like it's Sunday everyday. Aside from pies they're known for, there are a few kitchen gadgets and baking accoutrements worth shopping for. The ambiance is warm and modern. Ordered a sweet (Honey Peach) and savoury (Spinach Artichoke) and they're both delicious. Very filling for a meal. Two Korean ladies were very enthusiastic and helpful. Would love to be back. It warms my heart to learn that this business was created out of love and embraces inclusivity.

I hit the reviews looking for "The best bakery in Burnaby" and saw Gabi & Jules come up on the list. I was going to a little tea party and wanted to bring something to impress Having been previously disappointed in 2 other local bakeries, I was hopeful for a better experience. Let me tell you, Gabi & Jules is OUTSTANDING. I found free parking out front along Hastings. There is parking along the streets as well. The outside of the bakery is lovely. Seating and flowers make it feel inviting. I love the pink and white. As soon as I entered, there was this charming vibe. I felt happy just stepping in. It smelled delicious. I think it was the coffee cakes baking in back. The displays of treats and granola and pies and mugs and the list goes on. There is great attention to detail in every area of the bakery. It is spacious and feels real good in there. Everything was so clean & tidy. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I was greeted with a simple hello as soon as I walked in. It was nice to be acknowledged and left to explore. Everything looked inviting. I decided to sample 2 savory items & 2 sweet. The Sourdough Coffee Cake Ham & Brie Croissant A savory Spinach & Artichoke Crostata A sweet Walnut & Peach Crostata They were all so delicious. Flavourful. Esthetically beautiful. Felt like quality ingredients and care in the making. The prices are reasonable as you are getting a quality product. Corners are not being cut here. I shared my treats between 4 of us, and everyone agreed these were amazing. I crossed a bridge to check out this place, and I will certainly return. This is my new favorite bakery. Next time I'm going for the pie. Check them out. You will love it!

First of all, great location! The shop is bright, cute and modern as well as clean. The menu items look great. They have a summer drink menu too so be sure to check it out! I tried the strawberry mojito. Was refreshing and reminded me of a strawberry lemonade with a twist of mojito. I would be interested to try other drinks. Known for their pies, I decided to go for a savory Crostata. I got the loaded potato. It was delicious and definitely something I enjoyed the most today! Reminds me of a pie with a fully loaded twice-baked potato. The portion was generous too that I had to finish the rest after a couple of hours. Would definitely recommend that. They also have pies that you could pre-order and you could get a sweet crostata instead of a savory one. Be sure to check out their menu! Will definitely come back again! I enjoyed the food and drink very much!

At first you're going to wonder how on earth their pie costs 4-5x what a grocery store pie costs but then you try one warmed up in the oven and the buttery flakey crust just blows your mind. What you think of as pie gets reset and every other $10 pie tastes like fast food in comparison. I'll still buy cheap pies from the grocery store, but when there's a special occasion and I want people to feel special, their pies are it.

Over the past year and a bit this has become one of our favourite breakfast places. But it is more…read morethan just a place for breakfast or brunch. It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. Plus I find is easier to take the street parking rather than playing with Faith trying to back out with customers who are not paying attention.

I did get a spoonful of the glorious whipped cream on top of my daughter's mango croissant. $8.50 Heaven. We thought it was worth every penny! The only gluten free item they offered on this day was a chocolate walnut brownie. Rich and pretty satisfying! We didn't mind a bit waiting for our specialty lattes but the flavors were underwhelming. Snow Velvet Latte $6.20 Double shot espresso, regular milk, vanilla syrup, velvet cream, cocoa dusting. My iced 16 ozs dark chocolate mocha was also not a memorable one. In spite of the unsatisfying lattes and lack of GF items, I'm still fond of the energy that fills in this cafe so I'll probably return.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

My cousin recently had Cory from HEY! CAKE THIS! Make a cake for her and below is what she said:…read more YEY!!! I found my forever cake designer and maker for all my family celebrations! I wasn't going to write any reviews because I just don't want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake ( see review for Yummy Yonnie Cakes) But first, let me tell you about CORY'S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake.... POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I'm a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own 'Duff Goldman'. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don't go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory's custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!
