This company does not stand behind its work. We had a new kitchen installed 5 years ago. We thought everything went well, but two things have now happened. Last year, we discovered that they made a small error in wiring our kitchen--they mistakenly didn't wire the refrigerator outlet to our whole-house generator. I called them and they ghosted me. We ultimately paid an electrician $180 to fix their error--a repair that took him only about 10 minutes. That wasn't so bad, so I dropped the issue and decided we'd just never hire them again. This year, however, something bigger happened. They had improperly installed a pot filler over our cooktop, using the cheapest possible screw anchors for a heavy faucet. We only recently started to use the filler, and the weight was too much. The filler blew off the wall, flooding the entire kitchen and leaking below into our basement. After insurance, we are still at least $9,000 out of pocket, and probably more since we'll be looking at retiling the wall no matter what we do. I know from last year's experience that there's no point to even calling them again since they won't return my call. I recommend that you stay away from this company. read more

After a major pipe burst in our kitchen, we consulted with several contractors to redo our kitchen. We luckily we decided on Blackstone Kitchen & Bath. Our consultant Joseph was key in helping to not only replace, but update the design choices of our kitchen and attached sunroom. My designs were used and materials and further suggestions were made by Joe, Fatima and staff. Joe and project managers kept on top of the trades and fulfilled the several items that needed tender loving care. We had Blackstone out to do our master bath 2 years ago- it took 18 months to finish. I will be nice and say they lost staff over Covid and didn't know about us being not completed. They finally called in someone who knew what they were doing about our door and that is still fixed. It took 5 different times for them to try and fix the shower faucet they installed to work correctly. And here we go again- it's not working again! My husband looked and they put a temporary piece in to get it to work instead of actually fixing the issue. Now I have to call a plumber who can fix our issue because I do not trust this will ever get fixed correctly with Blackstone. For three amount of money we paid- I wish we would have walked away when they had ripped out our old one and realized their initial measurements were wrong. Would have been cheaper and we would have a functional bathroom. read more

In seeing the good reviews, I figured that paying more money would get me the great quality I was looking for from Blackstone. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There were numerous issues with the project. Here's just a few out of the many issues: - It was obvious that the person they got to do the tile work was not an experienced tile setter. Tiles were misaligned and configured in the wrong pattern. - Poor workmanship: uneven paint coverage, improperly installed vanity light, grout left on tile, deep scratches left on tile, damaged vanity after installation, poor shower door installation. - Problems with project management: very poor communication, shower layout plan not followed, had to take time off of work to get more tiles because they gave me a wrong estimate. As a result of all of these issues, I had to constantly keep an eye on the project and keep calling them out whenever they did something that didn't seem right. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my time, nor did it instill any confidence in me that they were doing a good job. I'll give Joe credit - after very lengthy and detailed emails describing my complaints, he had the workers fix many of the problems I pointed out, but I will say that the entire process was extremely stressful. The only reason I can think of for all of these problems occurring is that I had a small project (5'x8' bathroom), so I must not have been that important for them. Despite that, I still have problems to this day - I'm seeing cracks in my drywall (likely due to improper installation), and the grout is beginning to crumble away. I already had to call them back to repair a previous drywall crack, and the repair looked terrible. It hasn't even been a year since the renovation. Very disappointing overall. You don't always get what you pay for. read more

My newly remodeled bathroom is gorgeous. It makes me feel like I'm in a spa. As this was the first-ever bathroom full remodel, I needed no small amount of "hand holding" so to speak. I'm very grateful to the lead designer Valerie, who guided me how to begin making decisions. She also suggested features that I normally wouldn't have thought about. So not only do I have a new, modern bathroom, but improvements. I must say, it was fun meeting and chatting with Valerie as well. I was impressed by the tradesmen who did the actual install. Christian was one of the people. I can't remember all the names, sorry! They were diligent and tidy and after having enjoyed the the bathroom for several weeks now, it seems everything is solid and well-put together. The reason there is not a perfect score is that some of the people I was dealing with at the later stages of the project did caused un-necessary stress. The project manager tried to convince me that I was wrong about the door, which began to stick once the new thicker tile was in place. Furthermore, he was quite sure that to fix it would require a total replacement of the door. That would be, of course, to involved and take up time. (He was more interested in finishing up and moving on to the next job.) He was also trying to get me to consider him for other work in my house. After his disingenuous explanation about the door fix, I removed him from my potential contractors. In addition, my handyman of many years looked at the completed bathroom and loved it at first time as it is beautiful. At first he asked for Black Stone's contact info for a friend. However, once I showed the sticking door, he changed his mind. I knew I was correct about the door all along, by my handyman further confirmed it. We will be able to fix the door in efficiently and at low cost...using the exact same door. And finally the young lady who's main job it was apparently was to stop by and collect payments. She showed little concern about customer satisfaction. The slightest last minute addition, such as assembling and installing a small medicine cabinet resulted in a high labor bill. I ended up assembling 90% of the cabinet. I was ready to complete it and the project manager didn't want to wait for me, so he hurriedly did the last bit, which was adding the "doors". He didn't even do them correctly. They were crooked. Thank goodness for Christian who corrected them properly. What did I pay for? I guess hanging it on the wall was what my money brought me. I digress, I mentioned the young "check collector" lady. Her interaction with me was a mix of patronizing and snark (read, immature). She could stand to gain some experience under her belt and get into customer service training right away. As much as I liked Valerie, Christian and the other tradesmen, I'd be hard pressed to hire BlackStone for my kitchen do-over. The prospect of dealing with the other two puts me off. read more

I am thrilled with the results of the bathroom remodel done by Blackstone Kitchen and Bath! We had them remove a bathtub and replace it with a walk in shower, remove a shower and replace it with a floor to ceiling cabinet, and replace all the countertops, cabinets and fixtures. We initially selected Blackstone because their price was competitive and because I liked the idea of being able to select everything in one place. I hate making decisions and Joseph, our Design Consultant, was very helpful to us when making decisions and putting everything together. Our Project Manager, Luis, made sure everything ran smoothly. There was minimal disruption and he checked in frequently to be sure the work was flawless. When the shower tiles were installed, he noticed a small chip and had the tile replaced. I didn't even notice the chip and this was no small feat because those tiles were big and heavy. The work team showed up everyday on time and cleaned everything outside the bathroom when they left. The price of everything was very transparent. They use a website called Buildtrend that keeps track of everything that has been ordered, and the exact price of the finished project. A mixed review for our experience that started out strong. We worked with a consultant named Junior, who was one of the kindest and most professional people we've ever worked with. He visited our house for a detailed discussion of our plan to renovate our master bathroom. Junior was knowledgeable and helpful. We then visited the Blackstone storefront in Glenwood, where Junior spent a lot of time with us helping us pick out specific tile, a vanity, a countertop, pull handles, etc. Their storefront had plenty of samples to look at and consider. We were surprised that their estimate was 8K and 13K above our two other estimates for the same scope of work. Since none of the estimates detailed the a la carte price of each item, I suppose it's possible that we accidentally chose a vanity, for example, at Blackstone that was of enormously better quality than the ones we picked at the other places. However, both on paper and on site, it seemed like we were getting materials of comparable quality to the other two places. Nevertheless, based on our confidence in them, Blackstone was our second choice in case anything fell through with our first choice. Unfortunately, we then had a tough time getting our deposit back that we had placed to hold a date. I don't want to detail the contacts I made to get the deposit back, but it was finally returned after I put in a dispute with my credit card company. Assuming they just dropped the ball on the deposit refund, I believe we had a positive experience before that point. I like supporting local businesses, and although they weren't our first choice this time, I would consider working with them in the future. Had a full basement remodel completed by Blackstone to include bedroom with egress window and full bath during this pandemic. Throughout the entire process, they were extremely professional and meticulous with the work completed. I probably would give them 5 stars but did not have the opportunity. MAYBE MY REMODEL DID NOT COST ENOUGH FOR THEM TO MAKE A PROFIT. Joe came to my home to do measurements. We then set an appointment for me to visit the showroom. I visited the showroom, did the bathroom design on his computer program and then talked about the cost. Afterwards, asked me for approximately $6,100. He never provided me with an official document with the quote. He told me that he would email me the quote and all other information. Never received it.
