Hair and mold in bathroom, ripped window screen, chipped paint & unfinished walls, broken down room equipment.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked on Expedia a few months ago for a king room with pets for 2 nights for $160. Upon arriving today, I was told I couldn't have that room because pets were only allowed in a double bed rooms. I said ok that would be fine. The desk clerk said she had to cancel my Expedia reservation and book the new one. Again that was fine. Upon rebooking my cost is $460! I had no other choice as the vacation towns hotels were booked. Once getting into my room, the bathroom has chipped paint, torn screen on windows, splattered paint on the floor and the room in general is tiny and unclean. My room was not cleaned up or restocked while we were out prior to the 2nd night. The included breakfast was only mini bagels, weak coffee and orange juice.

Arrived there to find black mold, toe nail clippings, a gummy bear, and an old plastic Easter egg. Complained to the front desk where they said they would show us another room. This other room was even dirtier. Asked for a refund as we were in the room for five minutes. No one there was able to process a refund. They gave us the managers number and email. She refuses to answer any of them. The manager is supposedly "Cindy Taylor" who is a made up name. Went there multiple days in a row after we were promised the manager would be there the next day. Third day of going there, the police were called on us. Police officer stated they get a lot of calls about this place and that there were three ongoing cases. Called back as we were told by Sam, the front desk worker she would be able to speak. To our surprise, they told us we weren't getting our refund and violently cussed at us. Department of health, better business bearu, and the federal trades commission called on this place. The family that runs this places are scammers. Don't stay here. See attached photos of the filth.

They took time to answer our questions about the hotel itself and to recommend some restaurants for a quick evening out in Deadwood (only 4 miles away...).

Didn't have to see a person at all, which is great for someone like me lol Others may not appreciate the impersonal nature of the transaction as much as I did. Room was large, bed was huge and comfortable, linens smelled fresh. Furnishings were suitable for the theme of the Inn. Breakfast was adequate- yogurt, fruit, some packaged muffins, mini bagels, juice and coffee. Perfectly fine. You should be made aware when you book, but there's no elevator so you're carrying your bags up those steps (see my pics). We were here at the end of September during some sort of freak heat wave and the poor little window AC was doing its best to keep up. I was comfortable; my husband was hot. I just appreciated they had AC at all. It's just a very large room with high ceilings to try to cool with a small unit.

Quiet little street (I'm a city girl) - can see Mine from window looking out front of 2nd story. If you are from the country, you will think it is a highway out front. I lived by the freeway in MN so this is quiet to me. Room has everything a girl needs, except food - and that is walking distance. On second look, there is coffee and water in the lobby. You can probably find a muffin or tangerine in the fridge if you want a little snack. Cute little park area (very small, think tiny mountain town) across the street to walk dogs. Flowers are gorgeous. More later...

THE PROPERTY WAS APPARENTLY CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. Now they refuse to refund my money. They are still booking rooms and cabins on at least 3 booking sites. Beware! This place will scam you.

Then after our stay we were charged an extra $30 because they said we broke the fan, which we absolutely did not! They didn't tell us about it and they would not return our calls. I had to trick the lady to call me back by leaving a message about renting a new room and when on the phone finally she became completely hysterical and yelled at me about how we "trashed the room" because we left sheets on the floor... we didn't use some of the bedding because it was so hot. The only reason we rented a room here for 4 in our group because the ad says it sleeps 6. We reserved through Expedia which defaults to 2 and forgot to change it. We acknowledged 4 would be staying with us when checking in and she charged us extra for that as well. I recommend the Hampton Inn up the street where the rest of our group stayed. It was cheaper and sooo much nicer and free breakfast.

Some of the cabins are new and some are modernized older buildings. We loved the rustic interior of our cabin and, being used to camping, appreciated the basic kitchen and bathroom with shower. Wickiup Village is a short distance from a lot of great South Dakota attractions: Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse memorial, the Needles Highway, and the towns of Deadwood and Lead. You can even get to Wall Drug and Badlands National Park within two hours. There is a store and restaurant within easy walking distance, which came in handy. The staff was great and went out of their way to make sure everything was going well. This might not be the place for you if you're used to five-star hotels, but if you want to stay in a place with charm and unique character, don't pass up Wickiup Village.

Renting the tubes were cheap, and there's a little river that runs through the campground, so that was nice... Good location, about an hour from Mount Rushmore. Every cabin is different though. So MAKE SURE you're getting what you ordered otherwise you'll end up in a completely different cabin. Ultimately I felt misled because I got a different one than what I ordered on Air BNB. The wifi didn't work, and I was pretty disappointed that I had to take freezing showers.
