My boyfriend and I came and did this for the first time and it was such a fun experience! Michael was our coach and he was very friendly and helpful. I was having some trouble getting the axe to hit the target, but he was very patient and gave me tips to finally hit it. They serve beer which is a plus, and there is a two drink limit during your hour and a half session. While searching for a new activity to do in Seattle, my friends and I stumbled upon Blade and Timber and decided to reserve two lanes for 8 people for Friday night. Who would've thought throwing an axe could be so fun! The staff was attentive and our coach was informative. He made sure EVERYONE understood how to properly throw the axe, but more importantly how to be safe from each other.. Will recommend for people who want to experience axe throwing. My first time axe throwing. Axe throwing itself is awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful with instructions. Couldn't ask for more from the staff. It was exactly what you'd expect. Lanes side by side, it was clean, with tables behind for spectators. The reason it's 4 stars is because it has room for improvement. It was a pretty basic and sterile, not many food options, no drinking....you know all the things you'd hope to go along with a fun axe throwing experience with friends. My suggestion is to fill your belly and prefunk before you go. Plenty of good spots around there. read more

This place is a blast! If it's your first time axe throwing, the people defintiely make it easy and fun to do so! The location is pretty large and accommodating. If you have a larger group, definitely make a reservation. They've got a ton of game styles set up, so after you've learned how to wield those axes make it interesting and make it a competition!!! They've got a cool photo booth set up, as well as merchandise for sale. The lumberjack network playing on all TVs defintiely will give you the full experience as well. They also sell some refreshments in the form of bottled water, soda, and energy drinks. No food that I saw however. read more

Blade & Timber is SO MUCH FUN ! I've been here 2 times and each time has been a blast. You can make reservations online and come in to your reserved lane. You're also able to purchase a private lane for large groups. Both times I have gone the employees have been so nice and hilarious ! My brother actually hit the blue bulls eyes with both axes and the crew gave him one of their Blade & Timber pint glasses since not many people are able to hit the targets. Would definitely recommend anyone in the area to come here and relieve some stress it's reasonably priced and very entertaining. read more

Zombie apocalypse training at its best. Or a place to release your anger in a constructive way. Turns out I am oddly skilled at axe throwing. I took a party of 15 here for my boyfriend's birthday and it was an awesome time! The instructor was great, and all of us managed to do it as first timers. We were about 7-8 to a lane, and it took about an hour for everyone to get pretty comfortable with the activity, so for the second hour, we played team games and competed against each other. SUPER fun time and would highly recommend this to anyone! Remember to wear close-toed shoes for your safety! read more

Came here with a buddy. It was our first time throwing axes. Didn't know what to expect but the staff was super helpful. We started out with one axe just to get the hang of things. We were taught how to throw it one handed and two handed overhead. I personally recommend the two handed overhead throw for beginners. Once we got comfortable, the staff showed us how to throw underhanded which felt pretty cool. And just when we thought we had experienced everything, we were given an additional axe and shown how to throw 2 axes at once. I've never felt more like a viking warrior. I was half waiting for them to bring out the double-headed axes at the end. To our surprise, we did so well that the manager said we should join the league. Overall, it was a super fun activity and I would definitely do it again with some friends. read more

My girlfriend and I went on a Friday (12/20/19 4:30pm). We had an amazing instructor, Kristina. She was kind, respectful and professional so I commend her on that. As we were playing cricket, I notice another instructor was starting to throw axes next to us (male, about 5'8, brown hair, glasses, wore a cap), we'll call him Bob. At first we didn't think much of it and there was no harm and we were both actually impressed on how well he threw. The night was going well until this jackass starts making things uncomfortable. He rudely imposed himself on us and interrupted our game, unnecessarily challenged ME while showing off and thought it was an invitation to give my girlfriend a one on one training. Look... that's cool that you can throw an axe underhanded and one handed while calling your shots, but BACK THE FUCK UP, BOB! What really set me off was Bob would start to only give her tips and and would get closer and closer until he got behind her. She definitely felt uncomfortable and we both actually left early cause of it. Overall, the experience was great until... Bob. read more

I've been here several times already. I have so much fun every time I come and I love when people visit because I always take them here. Full disclosure, I've never been to any other axe throwing spots nor have I gone real axe throwing in the woods. For a newbie like myself, this is more than enough. The staff is knowledgeable and great at explaining the techniques to you. This is a great date spot too (or it was for me? lol). It'll really show you another side of a person :) I usually come in the middle of the afternoon on weekdays and can just do a walk in easily. It's also very affordable for 1.5 hrs (~$24). This is new spot in Capital Hill Seattle. My wife and I had the chance to attend a Yelp event shortly after the place opened. I have to admit, I've been wanting to do this since we visited Austin a few years ago. The building is very nice and seems to be constructed in a way that will keep everyone safe. Each lane is enclosed in a sort of cage so there is no chance the person next to you is gonna screw up and hit you with something sharp. The business does not yet have a liquor license (March 2019) but the manager mentioned they are working on this and will have it corrected soon. Both my wife and I had a lot of fun taking out some aggression and I'm even more excited to go back. Blade & Timber also does private events and you can pre-book a lane. The staff are very attentive without being overbearing. Oh, you can also bring your own food! No outside alcohol of course. Go check them out and have some fun read more

Begging for tips is gross. The axe throwing was fun enough, and it was easy for us to reserve a lane online with a credit card. We mistakenly thought this meant we had "paid", which in reality we have because the card was properly charged. But they accosted our friends on the way out saying they also want to run the charge at the end so they can collect tips, and talked my friends into giving them some cash. Unprofessional. There is absolutely no reason a business like this should be looking for tips. read more

We booked this as an activity during a girls weekend in Seattle. We walked in, no one greeted us or helped us. We were asked to sign a waver, but when we asked what to do next, we were ignored. There was no line or other people waiting, we were just ignored while the person behind the desk stared at a computer. She finally answered with a sarcastic comment and gave us wrist bands but then went back to ignoring us. I asked what lane we were at and what we were supposed to do next, as none of us had been there or done axe throwing before, she said "I don't know, what lane ARE YOU AT?" I had to pull up my confirmation in my email on my phone and tell HER what lane we were booked at. Then she decided to move us to a different lane, which I then realized was written on the white board behind her the whole time. The place was not crowded, so one of the girls was sitting at the table directly next to us, the worker walked up and rudely told her to move - for no reason. The other guy that was working was helpful and very nice, and gave us an overview how to throw. But the woman, who was wearing a dog collar, was extremely rude to our group the entire hour and a half we were there. It ruined the experience for everyone. The number of rude comments that were made to multiple people in our group was ridiculous. I regret booking at this place and will not be going back. I recommend going somewhere else that cares about costumer service and makes your experience fun. read more

Axe throwing? Why not! The lay out reminds me of bowling where you have your own lane but instead of bowling balls, you have axes to throw. Each party has their own "coach" teaching you how to throw axes in a safely manner plus throwing in some tricks in between. We had such a great time thanks to Mike! Or lanes boards and obviously been used a few times, when I brought this up to the coach he avoided the question entirely! Spent 150 dollars for 5 people to have a mediocre time! read more

We came here for a friends going away party. You can bring your own food and non alcoholic drinks. While the axe throwing was absolutely fun, our instructor was unfortunately not in a very pleasant mood during our visit. From my understanding there was confusion with our booking and our party was larger than expected. I wouldn't think that would be a problem since the space in rather large and there were only 2 or 3 lanes being used (One of them being ours) and there were more employees than there were groups. It's not like they were stretched thin. While she instructed our group on how to throw the axe safety she was rather short with our applifying questions. I recall one member of our group asking about the stance and if we have to step into the throw and her response was "just like I showed you" she then turned away and mouthed something that I didn't catch but I can venture to guess it wasn't polite. When it was my turn I informed her I had a bad shoulder and knowing there was a one handed throwing technique I asked her if she could show me that throw instead. She said that if I have a bad shoulder the one hand technique won't work for me and refused to show me. Well obviously I won't be throwing the axe with my bad shoulder - no duh. I tried to explain to her that I had 2 shoulders and the one I would be throwing with would NOT be my bad one but she wouldn't give us the green light until we all demonstrated the two handed throw. I understand that but I felt pressured to do the 2 handed throw which put strain on my bad shoulder so I wouldn't hold the group up. She never actually showed me the one hand technique but luckily I picked it up myself. Thankfully the instructor wasn't with us the whole time so our unpleasant encounter was kept to a minimum. We had our holiday team activity here. It was a last minute booking and they were able to shuffle things around and fit all 19 of us in along with recommend a great caterer. Everything was on time and required minimal planning on my part. Our coach Doreme was great with our large group. We all had a blast. I very much recommend this place based on customer service alone. The axe throwing was a lot of fun. Our coach was able to teach even the most nonathletic of us to at least hit the board. read more
