There's a small parking garage underneath the library. (The garage closes when the library closes... so no dawdling!) The front desk staff was friendly and helped me get my new library card set-up. She helped to reset my account, gave me a bookmark which also noted the library hours, walked me through the different resources available, and was willing to answer any questions. You can checkout up to 75 items! The library space was new and modern. There was a community event being hosted in the meeting room when I visited. There are so many services and events that the public library offers beyond books - I dare you to check it out. As everyone's favorite aardvark once said, "Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card!"

I love the integration of the Spanish language in all the titles of the different areas, and that there is a dedicated space to eat and hang out where you can talk louder etc. The building gets a lot of natural light and there is plenty of parking. Since I had some time to kill, I decided to take a mini tour and grab a book or two. I have to admit that the inside of the library was not as big as I was expected. Or rather, I should say the selection of books was not a vast as I would have liked. However, I managed to find a couple of decent reads. I'll also say that the layout is a bit confusing, but it's nothing too outrageous. There is a parking garage across the street; however, you have to pay with the exception of Sundays. Call me old fashion, but I think a public library should have free parking for its patrons. But hey, I guess different rules apply when you are in a more urban environment.

From the outside, the building looks a bit dated... but that's the vibe of the entire community, haha. The inside is nice! It has everything you'd want -- meeting rooms, silence that you could hear a pen drop, COVID-19 take-home test kits, chairs for reading, and of course books on books on books! I haven't checked one out yet (I have my own backlog as is), but they have quite the selection! It's convenient only being 5 minutes from my house. I can't really compare it to others, but it has everything I need!

Since I had time to spare, I thought I would update my library account and look for a book. Dude at the front desk was nice. He updating my account easily so that was quick and cool. I walked around, kicking myself that I didn't bring my phone charger and lo! There was free charging station! Clutch!!!! Two Stars! Next, I thought I would look for the book I needed. An Eric Foner book. Not the most popular read but, lo and behold 'twas on the shelf!!!! Kill!! Three stars. So I continued to kill time reading about Historic Greenbelt, there was a display for that. I went to one of the self-checkout machines, I saw two, checked my book out and went to find the restroom. Four Stars with the self-checkout. On my way to the restroom I saw this box for donating eye glasses. I loved that for obvious reasons so add another star to my review and that's 5 but, with the men's restroom out of order on election day 2018, I deducted a star. So, I had a good time at the Greenbelt Library. I got more done than I needed and more than I expected. Good stuff, good stuff.

Weeks ago I needed some help in getting a book to load onto my Kindle. I had waited for many…read moremonths for the loan to materialize. Although I had gone through this process many times before, it just would not load for me. I went into the library and was lucky enough to get Ms. Williams, who worked with me for a good while. She tried everything that was possible, it seemed. We were unsuccessful, but I really appreciated her efforts. All of the time that I had tried, the days were ticking away on the loan after the long wait for my name to come up. Anyway, I finally was able to get it on the Ipad. The Petworth Neighborhood Library has that wonderful OLD feeling to it. From the historic exterior…read moreto the heavy wood furniture in the reading rooms, it makes you feel like you are stepping back in time (at least, more so than many other DC libraries). Even with the old-world feel, the space is bright and cheery. The staff is a little more hands-off than other locations but I've never encountered anyone rude when I've had questions. I've attended the Tuesday toddler story/music time here and it gets pretty crowded...more so than at other libraries. I'm glad that they offer so many activities such as this, but it can seem a little disorganized. They do a great job with children's programming throughout the year (we made snow globes at an evening craft session for kids which was a big hit!). Bathrooms: located on the top floor (children's room) and bottom floor, so a bit of a hassle if you are planning on sticking to the main floor.

Even though I have lived in DC for a few years, I embarrassingly was not a member of the DC library. It was really easy to go online and fill out a form. When I was confused, I was able to easily get help online. Although I have not had a chance to use the library building, I have been able to go there to pick up books. Each time I have been in and out very quickly. They have a system of how people walk through so that people are not too physically close to each other. The location is incredibly convenient to the metro. I really appreciate how nice everyone has been and how easy they have made it to take out books. Thank you to the staff of the DC Public Library and the Cleveland Park Library for making life easier in these crazy times!

I'm not clear if there is a cost associated with that, because I haven't yet tried to reserve a space. It's also more quiet on the second level compared with the first level which is geared more towards children. The Cons: The library is small, and I could not find a desk when I got there. I've been to two other libraries in the city which provide significantly more space. With no available empty table, I sat at a computer work station desk and tried to navigate space for my laptop.

I love libraries. The Tenleytown public library is among the many where I have ducked in for an…read morehour between business appointments. It works well for that purpose. Although some are critical of the vibe here, I cannot say I have found, on three visits, that is inferior to others in the system, or even discernibly different. I tend to select my retreat based on location, whatever is convenient to the last meeting or the next meeting. I would not criticize this venue. The city must have started a giant renovation project. So many of the branches have bright, well designed, tasteful furnished renovations. It does get a bit hot here. On the scale of concerns, with looming catastrophe from climate change, that hardly ranks as more than a quibble.
