However this library is a lot smaller than Gburg or Germantown. The computers are kind of in the center and just a few stations. To my dismay, they are all clumped together. Unlike Gaithersburg where people are spaced out. I like my personal space but there are some grown folks that don't cover there mouths when they cough and sneeze...or leave their tissues on the table and not take it with them when they leave. I strongly suggest bring your own wipes and wipe down your area.. as if you were at the gym. My second ick... is the kids You have kids that will take up the computers to play Robloxs or Minecraft. The time limit is about 1 hour but the librarian will usually extend your time. My favorite part of this library is that they have a Lucky Day shelf with books that are very popular That you can get without being on a long waiting list. Maybe because I've been around the country and visit different libraries and we are definitely not like NYC -Brooklyn or Denver. Where they have tons of amenities .

Which means those books with waiting lists sometimes will be there. I bypassed that 4 week waiting period. I came initially to use one of their conference rooms. Which is huge and spacious. They have a discovery room which is a huge sensory play area that I use to take my littles that they absolutely loved. Teachers can also reserve the room during the week for a hour. However use caution. Idk if those toys are sanitized. So make sure your littles dont put it in their mouth. Lots of computers to use, or bring your own laptop. Wifi is good. However their printing is expensive... .15 cents for regular and i think .99 cents for color. They also have classes, especially if you wanna learn how to knit, or play mahjong. They also have reading time for the littles.

Rating only pertains to meeting rooms and customer service…read more If you want to have a meeting in the designated meeting rooms, this library is not for you. The meeting and quiet rooms do not serve their primary purpose. I reserved meeting room #3 and there was another meeting going on next to it. The sound proofing is non-existent. It sounded like the people were in the same room. We ended up leaving because we could not talk without being heard and were distracted by the people in the other room. We could hear clearly what they were saying so it's logical to assume they could hear us too. We told person at the customer service desk that we are unable to continue our meeting due to lack of sound insulation, could we please use the available meeting room near the entrance? The person we spoke to suggested that we have the meeting outside on the patio as the one by the entrance was not for public use. It was 101 degree F outside so I said this wasn't going to work for us and we needed privacy due to HIPAA regulation. As we were walking out the customer service person asked if we no longer were using the room. Basically, her only concern was that she cancel the reservation so it was free for other people to use. So we ended up conducting the meeting in our car with the AC on as the car provided superior privacy and soundproofing. I give it one star because I can't give it 0 star. The meeting rooms look nice but they don't serve their primary function. And the customer service person is there but could not provide any customer service.

There are a lot of people of all ages and demographics, which I personally really liked. The Wi-Fi speed was actually really good which kind of surprised me! I personally wish there was a little café on the inside of the library but because it's so small and there are other places to eat in proximity, I'll let it slide. The parking is cheap In my opinion. Someone said a dollar an hour is expensive but I thought it was fine. Of course I'd rather not have to pay for parking in the library, but given that this is in downtown Bethesda, they probably want to prevent people from parking here to do other things (?). I didn't go to the bathroom so I can't speak on the cleanliness of them. There was someone who had drank alcohol in the library and had an open bottle and the librarians were quick to remove him from the premises and they did so with grace. I don't think that should impact the library rating itself because the library did what It should've done. Minus one star for having to pay for parking, no food on the inside, slightly limited tables, and not allowing eating on the inside.

The only thing bad I can say about this location is that it was hot the first time I went (like 90+ outside) and it smelled a little stale inside. It's not THE MOST beautiful high tech library I've ever seen but honestly if it was it wouldn't be so welcoming.

That would be okay if they stayed in the children's section, but no, once that class was filled the ones that decided to hang out for the 11:00 toddler time class just set their charges free in the rest of the library. Since the public libraries don't carry professional periodicals and journals I needed to do some online research. This library has several web-connected computers to use, only they are out in the open, not in a private room. The problem with that is when a nanny decides to leave her baby stroller (with baby intact) parked behind you while she peruses the chic lit, it can get annoying, especially if the toddler is calling out to deaf ears. As for the library itself, it does its job: lend books. It is easy to get to (not by Metro) and has plenty of free parking.

To me, that's everything I need/want in a good study space. This library is also much less crowded than Bethesda library and quieter too; Bethesda library puts their quiet study room next to their collaboration rooms, resulting in a quiet study room that is not actually that quiet. The only reason I'm withholding the fifth star is the hours. They've recently extended their hours so they're open until 8 Monday-Thursday, but Friday/Saturday hours are more limited; only open until 6 and closed entirely on Sundays. This forces me to go to Bethesda library or an area college library if I want to have a long study session on the weekend.

Handicapped buttons to open the doors actually work here. Great local library!

The architecture is really interesting, modern, and lovely, including lots of windows--which give the library tons of natural light and expansive view of the outside--and unique designs throughout. There's even a bridge outside connecting one area of the holding to the other. The library is also handicapped accessible and has a huge parking lot. There's a sign out front that says "no vaping"--must have been an issue enough times to necessitate a sign. I picked up a book that I placed on hold without much trouble and checked out with no lines. An ideal experience. The checkout staff was willingly helpful and friendly.

Rockville has five, at best. -Lots of couches in the kids area to read books to your little one. Cons: -The room used for music time for kids was bursting at the seams, with half the parents standing outside the room. Surely there must be a bigger room to use, right? I opt to go to a library in DC (Cleveland Park) that puts on story time almost daily, instead. -Montgomery County PL has some really uptight, annoying rules. I brought in a bag of books to return (only containing books), also was holding my baby, diaper bag, etc, and the librarian insisted I take the books out of the bag myself. Only having one arm I attempted to dump the bag out on the counter and of course nearly all of them fell on the floor, leaving me to scramble to pick them up while still holding the baby. Thanks. So much.
