I have been going to this library since I was Ram. Probably before that, honestly. I have never had…read morean issue with the staff, or the children that frequent the are. However, I feel that in comparison to some of the other libraries that they have a lesser selection of books, which is a bummer. But, you can just request books from other locales to be sent to you. This branch doesn't appear to become too crowded, so it seems to be a great space to utilize the free internet for research or whatever your needs are. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there are large room that are used for educational purposes, classes and the like.

Wifi available, plenty of computers, reasonable hours (no Sundays since the '09 budget cuts, sadly), and good selection of magazines; what more could you want? The facility and its bathrooms are clean and well maintained. It has self-checkout, and a 'help yourself' shelf for your hold items. The only thing I might ask for is a bigger selection of titles at this branch. Often, newer books are only in the bigger branches. But hey, I guess that is what the iPhone catalog app for placing holds is for!

There are sections for children, teens, and adults, so you can learn and study with others like you. There are still issues with some folks being loud, but they offer several study rooms where you can escape that. They don't seem to have as much variety in the adult non-fiction section as I'd like, but I appreciate the fact that you can request and reserve books from other branches. I've done that several times now - very quick and easy. Truthfully, this branch is much nicer and cleaner than most others in the county, and I anticipate it getting even better as they continue to bulk up their book selections.

There's a small parking garage underneath the library. (The garage closes when the library closes... so no dawdling!) The front desk staff was friendly and helped me get my new library card set-up. She helped to reset my account, gave me a bookmark which also noted the library hours, walked me through the different resources available, and was willing to answer any questions. You can checkout up to 75 items! The library space was new and modern. There was a community event being hosted in the meeting room when I visited. There are so many services and events that the public library offers beyond books - I dare you to check it out. As everyone's favorite aardvark once said, "Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card!"

Comparing PGCC to the 4-year university I'm at now makes all of the problems I previously had with…read morethem insignificant. Yes, their nursing program was over-saturated (too many applicants, not enough advisors), but it ran like a well-oiled machine regardless. In my current school, my advisor registered me late and almost signed me up for a course I'd already taken, which I had to find out for myself halfway through the semester. They didn't depend on me to supervise every step of every transition like switching majors the way other universities do. Soooo much information is available in your student portal that I almost never had to step foot in the admin hall (though as a new student, navigating their sites was like entering a labyrinth). I was shocked to learn having a waiting list was not a universal thing and they actually notify you once a spot opens, as opposed to my current school who makes you log in and check several times a day... every day... and then still gives unspecific error messages. They use Canvas which has SIGNIFICANTLY less issues than Blackboard. Yes, I have had some troublesome professors but every issue was handled beautifully by the administration, and even so it only came to this point twice. Some of the best teachers I've ever had the blessing to encounter are tucked away in here. I miss my professors, my peers, the atmosphere, I miss everything! I'm honestly considering dropping my Bachelor's just to go back to PGCC and finish my ADN. When it comes to college, bigger is not always better. PG is not perfect but they were deemed best school in MD to get your RN for a reason.

From the outside, the building looks a bit dated... but that's the vibe of the entire community, haha. The inside is nice! It has everything you'd want -- meeting rooms, silence that you could hear a pen drop, COVID-19 take-home test kits, chairs for reading, and of course books on books on books! I haven't checked one out yet (I have my own backlog as is), but they have quite the selection! It's convenient only being 5 minutes from my house. I can't really compare it to others, but it has everything I need!

Since I had time to spare, I thought I would update my library account and look for a book. Dude at the front desk was nice. He updating my account easily so that was quick and cool. I walked around, kicking myself that I didn't bring my phone charger and lo! There was free charging station! Clutch!!!! Two Stars! Next, I thought I would look for the book I needed. An Eric Foner book. Not the most popular read but, lo and behold 'twas on the shelf!!!! Kill!! Three stars. So I continued to kill time reading about Historic Greenbelt, there was a display for that. I went to one of the self-checkout machines, I saw two, checked my book out and went to find the restroom. Four Stars with the self-checkout. On my way to the restroom I saw this box for donating eye glasses. I loved that for obvious reasons so add another star to my review and that's 5 but, with the men's restroom out of order on election day 2018, I deducted a star. So, I had a good time at the Greenbelt Library. I got more done than I needed and more than I expected. Good stuff, good stuff.

Don't let the long line discourage you; it's absolutely worth the wait. The famous ceiling is every bit as impressive as the photos, and it's worth taking your time to admire the architecture. Be sure to check out the rotating exhibits as well. I thought the two Georges were well done. Also enjoyed seeing actual books from Jefferson's library. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. If you're visiting Washington, DC, this is definitely a place I'd recommend, especially if you're already exploring Capitol Hill. It's an easy walk to Navy Yard if you're planning to spend time there afterward.

Do know you need to reserve a spot online in advance to get your free tickets, but it's super easy to do on their website. They offer other free events that are worth exploring too!
