I bought a train set as a Christmas gift for my nephew in the Quad Cities from Blain's Farm and Fleet website that was sent from the Sycamore store. I wanted to buy from a local Midwestern chain as I like supporting local/regional businesses, so it's too bad I had this experience. The package was significantly large, and I thought Blain's would ensure a signature was required. They didn't, and the driver (Blain's uses FedEx) simply left this humongous package leaned against the front porch with no one home, after which it was quickly stolen. When I requested a replacement, Blain's sent an piddly email saying my family member could file a stolen package claim. No mention of sending a replacement or providing a refund. If Blain's learns anything from this review, communicate to FedEx or whichever shipping vendor you use to either always require a signature, or require a signature for packages of a certain weight/size. read more

I've been shopping here on and off for 15 years. Now that I'm a yelper, time for a review! There's a Farm and Fleet in Rockford and Romeoville, too. This store is usually quiet. it's very low-key. There is always plenty of parking available and no lines at the cashiers. Came in for some super delicious squirrel food. We walked around the store to no avail. Finally decided to ask an employee, and he was happy to point us in the right direction. Success! No more hungry squirrels! Had 5 new tires put onto my travel trailer. The job seemed done properly and on time. The only odd thing was that they said that they couldn't balance the tires as there wasn't room for the weights. It is a newer unit with aluminum mags and it seems like there would be room to place the balance weights on the rim. I am not totally familiar with tire balancing so I don't want to be too critical, but I also hope it doesn't cause a problem later. read more

Stand up service in the auto shop today! Brought my Chevy in for a brake inspection- sounded a little fishy and with 92k miles on it thought it best to get it checked out. They could have easily sold me on getting all new brakes but instead diagnosed the heat shield rubbing against the rotor - total cost $14.95! I def will take my car back for all my auto needs. I bought a $400+ lawn mower from Farm & Fleet, I also paid $75 EXTRA to have it delivered. (I still have the receipt.) Well, the mower was brought to my house but it was completely NON-FUNCTIONAL. This was due to improper assembly. It took SEVERAL phone calls on my part to straighten the MESS out. Plus I had to go to the store. The store Manager was difficult and rude--she acted like the refund would be deducted from her own checking account. She had such a bad attitude that I complained and she got into trouble. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this same ignoramus attacked me personally and my dog the last time we were in the store. (I was singled out by her--she used my first name!-- She acted like my dogs were vicious and lectured me because some nutjob fell over when my dog sniffed her. The nutjob was bitten 40 some years ago by a Dobeman. It had NOTHING TO DO WITH ME OR MY DOG. But the ignoramous manager was not interested in the facts. ALL three of my collies have had lots of training. For example, they all passed the AKC Good Citizen Test which is often used to qualify buyers of Home Owners insurance. Not to mention my 2 girls are CERTIFEID THEARPY Dogs. That means they do Reading with Rover Programs at DeKalb Public Library with youngsters. Plus they have visited Safe Passage, Kishwaukee Hospital and NIU -all without event. Also to the moron who knows NOTHING about dogs, Collies as a breed DO NOT BITE! But do not take my word for it. Ask the US Military who tried to get collies to bite people so they could be used as attack dogs during WWII. No matter what was done to them, the collies wouldn't bite. So they were used as courier dogs who carried messages and Red Cross supplies during the war. Given the above, I don['t appreciate being attacked by a moron manager who only has some of the facts and isn't interested in what REALLY happened -- not to mention her questionable attitude toiwards customers who make the mistake of buying crappy Farm a& Fleet merchandise. (To the Nutjobs of the world who fall over whenever they see a dog, I say stay HOME! The world is full of unleashed dogs--most more poorly trained than mine. To the black guy (farm & fleet employee) in the paint dept, who acted like my dogs are vicious, I say don't hand feed them anymore (as you have at least 1000 times in the past!) The start of this post is missing. An Employee had told my wife that he was giving her the correct Champion plug to replace the Kohler. He gave her an RC12YC , when it should have been an XC12YC. So I gapped it & put it in. It still would not start so I checked the air cleaner, which was fine, I knew the gas was fresh because I had run it until empty the last time I used it, & had used a stabilizer in the gas. So I checked to see if we had the correct spark plug & discovered we had been given the wrong one. My wife took the wrong one back & was told they don't carry the correct one. I was very upset because I had wasted so much time trying to figure what was wrong. So I called & ask for the manager & was told she was not in, so I ask for the manager in charge. I spoke with Stacy, I believe, & I explained to her that I was upset that we had been given the wrong spark plug & how much time that had caused me to waste so much time. She told me that if I brought it in they would look at it. I explained that I am not able to do that because I have a bad back & could not lift it. She offered to have someone pick it up, & I declined that. I told her I thought she was trying to be very helpful but they needed to just train their people better. She must have been in the service area because they could order me the correct one on Amazon. Since we live in Genoa, not close to the store, I ask her if she could have it sent to my home. She took my name & phone number indicating she would get back to me. That was on Tuesday & since I had not heard back I called the store. I basically wanted to get the name of the person who I had talked to, or if she was there ask her why I had not heard back. I ask to speak to the person in charge & Lena answered the phone. I ask what the name of the manager in charge would have been on Tuesday. She ask what it was concerning & I explained why I wanted to know. She didn't introduce herself as THE STORE MANAGER but when I told her that I felt that, not getting a return call I was being blown off. She said she was sure that was Not the case. Without me telling her that it was over two years old, she proceeded to tell me there hands were tied since it was over two years old. I explained to her that we had been given the wrong part & that's why I was upset & that it was a matter of training. She proceeded to tell me about how easy it was to make mistakes on getting the wrong spark plug. I told her that you sell the product yet you can't carry a spark plug for what you sold. She told me how it was impossible to carry everything. I just repeated that if you sell it you should have a part maintenance part. She did tell me that I could talk to Kohler and see if there was anything they would or could do to help me out. I had a feeling that I was talking to the person who told Stacy to forget about me. So I called back and ask the person who answered if Lena was THE MANAGER & she told me yes. I then ask to talk to her & ask why she didn't just tell me she was the manager. I told her that I would speak with Corporate & get to the bottom of why such crappy service. I think I know, it's the manager. I have purchased a riding mower, a generator, and the pressure washer in the past, as well as several other items. Customers need to be aware of the MANAGERS attitude toward helping the customer. He is Honest with high integrity and character, and will not try to sell you on repairs that are not needed. He is a excellent technician/mechanic and troubleshooter. I am only going to rate this a 3 star because i am only going to review the auto garage. My visit was quick and simple. I just had some work done to my tires somewhere else and since I have alloy aluminum wheels I need to have them re torqued after so many miles so this is where I went. The guy who helped me was very nice. He asked what I wanted got the tool, walked back to my car and 3 minutes later I was gone. I will be returning to this garage for other tire issues soon. Just as good as a Farm and Fleet could be. I stopped here specifically for some slim cut black Dickies I saw online that rival lululemon pants famous "my azz looks hot" look. Nice! I was gladly surprised that Farm and Fleet had such cute pants. Great buy, too. As for the rest of the clothes, it's a bit bland for my taste. Lots of pastels, plaid, relaxed fit pants, floral-print, etc. A city-slicker like me only chuckles at the CG I CG (City Girl-Country Girl) clothing brand that boasts the line, "It's clothing that fits you and your lifestyle - wherever, whenever." Hee-hee-hee... I have to admit that whenever I see Schleich brand animal toys, I can't help but to stop and play with them. Be aware: this location has a great selection of Schleich play animals and accessories. They make great gifts for ANYONE. Trust me. This is the second F&F auto center I have visited. Both took care of my auto repairs with attentive care.

I gave Farm and Fleet (Sycamore, IL) a one star rating ONLY because I had to in order to use this form. Otherwise, I would give it a ZERO rating. I bought a $421 mower from the store (5 days ago) which did not work, It was not assembled correctly which should have been my first tip off. I called the F&F Small Engine Dept. who said they would pick up the mower and fix it. Well, they never showed up to get the mower. When I phoned the store at 5:15 pm on Monday, staff in the dept had gone for the day. So I asked to speak to the manager. I was connected to a woman who identified herself as the manager. She didn't apologize then hung up on me (!) becasue I wasn't sweet and didn't kiss her you know whatgiven the above. I called back and told her I would leave a bad Yelp review mentioning her specifically and suddenly she was more helpful, i.e., would send someone for the mower and credit my acct. for its return. What a GARBAGE store to do business with!!! Such rude POORLY trained staff. No wonder their mowers aren't assembled correctly/don't work! Stay away! read more

Went in to buy dog food and noticed they were restocking toys, was hoping to grab something for my son, however they said that if I entered the "toy area" they would trespass me from the premises... for a toy. They were incapable of explaining why without acting like I was bothering them and said I should come back in TWO WEEKS. Again, for a toy. I left without getting what I needed, they clearly don't appreciate the business. Before I left they said they have my picture in case I came back. Somethings wrong with them. You can find what you need everywhere else in Dekalb and cheaper anyways. Hey why not visit Farm and Fleet while in DeKalb, you never know what you will find!! This store has everything from car parts to food. I have never been their before so I was just kinda walking around and seeing what they had and if I needed anything....I actually found a few things there. They had triangle toddler crayons that I was looking for on clearance...SCORE!! the food is a little expensive there for my taste but they had a huge package of peanuts that was super cheap and very yummy!! I had a very good experience here and will be stopping by for a visit next time in DeKalb : ) read more

After getting in line and waiting for the cashier to try and sign up someone for the awards program, messing around with names and addresses, she then looked at me and said "I'm sorry I''m closed" pointed to her light and walked away. the only other line was at least 7 people and i had to go to the back. Interesting variety of farm store type items, a very good selection of dried fruit/nuts/candies, plus a pretty well-stocked auto dept. Good prices on darn well anything from a crockpot to bargain bin DVDs to dental floss or vetrap. We go here mostly for tools, and they have a pretty good selection ranging from cheap, why bother type tools up to quality names like Milwaukee and DeWalt. With a few exceptions, staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have an excellent department for work clothes, including shoes, that are reasonbly priced which we would recommend. read more

Scheduled a tire appointment online with Deanna, my emails clearly state Sunday at 3:00 pm, went in for my appointment and the tire counter cashier told me I should have come yesterday because that's when they have me scheduled. I showed her my email, which she didn't care to see. Then she printed out something that had my appointment for yesterday and stated I should've came then... again, and stated they were full for the day. Automotive service **used** to be really good and now it is terribly disappointing. Last year I took my tire there TWICE to have a flat fixed. After the third time I went to another tire shop and they pulled the wire out and actually fixed the tire. I needed new tires and I have gotten them there for years. They never touched my car even though they PROMISED it would be done by 7:30. They FORGOT about it. Never even asked if I wanted to reschedule. I am done. read more

Farm & Fleet has a lot of variety...clothes...candy...automotive...yardcare, etc. I think their prices are generally pretty good...but the quality of their products are generally not high-end. I purchase things like wiper blades, air filters (car and furnace), and water softener salt there. I find their service to be very poor. We purchased a wicker patio set there...they were supposed to "hold" it in the back for us until I got a truck (next day). I even verified this with the warehouse supervisor. When I showed up with the truck, someone had reliquished one of our "held" items...and it was a hassle to straighten it out (and another trip). Their Automotive Department has horrific service. Long waits on hold when calling. I had an appointment for an oil change...took 1:40 (100 minutes, not 100 seconds). I wasn't late, either. I get "free" tire rotations since I bought tires there, but have paid to have it done elsewhere rather than endure the wait. I called once...was told I could get right in (no wait)...arrived within 15 minutes (it's a 10 min. drive) and was told it would be 1.5 hours. I once had a misdiagosed automobile issue as well. They seem to have a lot of technician turnover and a lot of inexperienced staff. I no longer patronize their automotive department. Summary: Shopping is good for some things...good prices if you don't need higher-end products. Stay away from the automotive department. read more

The store is a little intimidating, and hard to find what you're looking for. The people were friendly, but I brought in a key two different times and they were not able to make an accurate copy. There selection of lightbulbs was poor, but an excellent selection of bird feeders. I'd say it's a hit or miss. read more

This is for simply the automotive department. The rest of the store is great but the automotive section seems to be bringing the reputation down. I was warned against visiting from a couple friends but others said it was great. So I took the risk and went anyway. My brand new tires had worn down to the wire due to a bad alignment issue on the car. I told them "I need these 2 new tires put on and I NEED AN ALIGNMENT". Instead they replaced the wheel bearing and tires, which needed to be fixed but told me I did not need alignment. I insisted multiple times. Needless to say I received the car back and the wheel is still not lined up when going straight, and my tires are still seeing the same abnormal wear that shredded my last $350 pair of front tires. On the receipt it said I had denied the alignment service so disputing is out of the question. Moral of the story, I will not be returning. I understand everyone's experiences are different but I can not afford new tires every couple of months. read more
