I visited Lowe's on 12/26/25 during the tail end of their Christmas sales. The store had signage…read moreand displays indicating 75% off Christmas decorations, but when I attempted to purchase several items, the store refused to honor what was clearly being advertised as store deals. Unfortunately, the most disappointing part of the experience was the interaction with the store manager, Steve Mackey. Rather than helping clarify the pricing or de-escalate the situation, he was extremely rude and combative. The conversation felt less about resolving a customer concern and more about asserting authority. The overall impression was unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational, which only escalated what could have been a simple discussion. That said, I do want to acknowledge one male employee who was restocking merchandise at the time. He was calm, respectful, and genuinely tried to advocate for Lowe's by assisting and explaining what he could. He represented the type of customer service that would normally make me want to continue shopping at this store. I would strongly recommend that corporate leadership consider providing Steve Mackey with additional training in professionalism, customer service, and de-escalation techniques. Leadership sets the tone for the entire store, and this experience did not reflect well on the Dekalb, IL Lowe's brand especially during a busy holiday sales period. I hope Lowe's takes feedback like this seriously, as there are clearly employees here who understand and value good customer service.

The associates, who were very nice said that they would have the store manager Brandon call me when he got in that afternoon. I waited all afternoon and night for his call but received nothing. Saturday morning, 11/21/20 I stopped in the store the talk to the manager and was told he would be in at 12:30pm. The store associate gave me a few corporate numbers to call at my request. Low and behold no one associated with those numbers could help me. They kept insisting on forwarding my call to the store. I went back into the store at 12:15 to cancel my order. The associate was very understanding and apologized for the inconvenience and the hassle I had. At that time the manager, Brandon walked in. I explained to him who I was and asked why he didn't call me last night. His response was he was busy on the phone with another customer all day. Really??? I explained to him that I was out a lot of money and it would have been nice if he would have communicated with me. I try to keep my money local but in this case I will never shop at this store again. Brandon was not effected by my response. I informed him that as a manager, he needed more training on how to run a store and deal with customers. Again, he really didn't care.
