Let me begin by saying 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for this amazing flooring company. We discovered our dishwasher had been leaking--how long, we don't know, but long enough to create a real mess on our oak floors. We called Blair and Son Flooring Co (on the recommendation of a friend who has used them), and another company for pricing, accepting the quote from Blair. 70+ years in the business was a huge selling point! We absolutely couldn't be happier with their work. Johnny and his team were so easy to work with--responding immediately to any questions we had. Not only did they repair the damage caused by the leak, they also repaired a terrible cut, visible in a main traffic area, made by the original flooring company (who never returned my calls concerning the issue). Since we needed to move all furniture in the affected rooms (kitchen/livingroom), and were planning to replace carpeting in bedrooms that abutted the hardwood, we decided to have them install oak floors to match the existing. The new floors are beautiful, and no one would ever guess they hadn't always been hardwood. So happy Blair and Son Flooring was recommended to us! read more

This is our 2nd time using Blair and Son to replace our carpet with LVP. From the start of our project to finish the employees were professional, respectful of our home and property and did an excellent job! Josh was awesome!! Johnny Blair came to my home to provide an estimate for refinishing ~880sf of Brazilian Cherry wood floors. He arrived at the designated appointment time. When he arrived, he parked on the street in front of my garbage can; I asked him to move since the garbage truck was coming. I told him he could park in our circular driveway, but instead he asked if the can could be moved. I told him it could, but the garbage truck would still be close to his van. He moved to the driveway. While I was waiting, I went in the kitchen to get some coffee. When in the kitchen, I heard my front door entry notification go off telling me someone just entered my home. I went to the entryway and Mr. Blair was standing in my house. I bluntly asked Mr. Blair if he just entered my home without knocking. He said that he thought I was standing in the entry; he could clearly see I wasn't since I have glass front doors. We have been robbed previously, so we do not take kindly to people entering our home without approval and it is rude to enter without asking. After this, we continued looking at the flooring that needed refinishing and an area that needed repaired. I sent Mr. Blair a message on 03/19/2021 stating that I had not yet received an estimate. Within a few minutes, I received a response stating, "At this time I'm going to pass on providing you an estimate". As a third generation owner, I would have expected more professionalism from Mr. Blair. Even if I was standing in the entryway, you still knock before entering some ones home and if you are going to pass on a job, tell them, do not make them wonder. I am glad that Blair and Sons Flooring is busy enough during COVID that he can turn away business. read more

Blair & Sons did at best crappy work on my custom oak flooring and they don't stand by the results. I strongly recommend going elsewhere. They sub-contracted the flooring work for an insurance replacement of 3.5" oak flooring in my custom-built home that was damaged by water. They replaced about 40% of the floor, and since roughly three months after the replacement, there are more than a dozen places, and approximately 30 board feet where adjacent boards are 1mm or more vertically misaligned in the area that was replaced. In some places, these gross imperfections are visible by sight, and in all places they are felt very easily when one is in stockinged or bare feet. Comparing the flooring that Blair & Sons replaced to the original 60% that's been there for fifteen years, it's the proverbial night and day: The original flooring that they didn't replace is smooth all over, but the replaced flooring is bumpy as hell. In response to my requests for mitigation, Blair & Sons provided me a lecture and bum information about humidity, and that's all. And think about it: The work that Blair & Sons did was to repair from water damage; one would think that they would have done it right and humidity wouldn't be an issue! Also in response to my request for mitigation, the general contractor bragged about how they far exceed industry standard, and while I acknowledge that 1mm may be within industry standard, 1mm over 30 board feet and in a dozen or more locations is just plain crap. The general contractor and Blair & Sons have refused to make this right. I now have the constant irritation of a bumpy floor, and I worry about what any potential buyer of the home will think when I eventually attempt to sell the home. If you're doing oak flooring or similar, I strongly suggest finding someone else. read more

We had gone with a suggested contractor from our insurance company after water damage on Nov7. On April 4th, nearly 5 months later that contractor had not accomplished anything and quit. The next day Blair and Son came to our house gave us a bid and a week later had installed beautiful new flooring! We are so grateful for the team at Blair and Son. read more

A total joke of a company. I decided to go with them after the estimate. We didn't like them needing half down prior to the job which was a month down the road because of the need to get some replacement boards for my floor. Talked to them him about it and got upset about it with my wife. I got the money to him which was half of the cost of job which he need the next day after our conversation or he was going to cancel us off the schedule. A month later he calls me the day they are scheduled to come out and said they got the wrong boards. I have all the furniture, area rugs off the hardwood floor which took about an hour. I talked to him about my frustration with not being told before the appointment. I asked him when he would get the correct boards, he said he would call around and see if he could find them. I called the next day to see what the status was and he said he decided not to do the job. I asked why he said it was because of the conversation he had about with my wife about the half down a month ago and did not feel right about doing the job. The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with and they will not follow through with the job. read more

Very flexible, very nice and very quick in doing a beautiful job refinishing floors. The only issue we have is the fact that you should NOT put trim up BEFORE you get your floors redone...there are lacquer spots on the trim throughout the house...SAD :( I would highly recommend them to anyone redoing floors though as again, they do a beautiful job and the flush vent covers are gorgeous as well. read more

The Owner is very personable and sounds professional. We left the house in their hands for four days and stayed in a hotel. We wanted to cry when we came back. Pine needles were embedded in the varnish. There were large puddles of varnish that didn't get spread. They broke a window screen and put a hole in the wall carrying things down the stairs. We had at least 40 spots that needed to be fixed. They came back to fix things....which meant we had to spend two more days in a hotel... They redid the whole downstairs because it was so bad...but they still left a pine needle in the middle of the powder room floor and did not lift up the sink and toilet so they are varnished to the floor. They refused to redo the upstairs and just sanded the flaws out leaving the finish uneven etc. etc. We were told that they would take up the sink and toilet in the powder room but instead they smeared varnish around it. I waited a whole week to review them on facebook because I didn't want to do it when I was still angry. read more

Stay away! Horrible install. Uneven stain in some places. Floor was cracking like ice after the install. Called Johnny Blair and asked him to come out and look at why the floor was cracking in the new rooms he installed, but not in the existing rooms he refinished. Said I was concerned that some of the boards he installed are cupping up at their edges. His response was this will go away. It never did. An apparent cause of the poor install could be when his workers told me to turn off the heat as to not blow dust, then they left the sliding glass doors open, when temperatures dropped and it rained. This let moisture into the wood and now has permanently marred the install of the floor. I have heard very positive feedback about this company, but looks like it really depends on who shows up in the install crew. read more
