We enjoyed our two nights stay recently at Blair House Inn. First of all, it was very quiet and serene. Also, the bed was extremely comfortable and also the pillows. Everything was very clean, and although we didn't eat breakfast, which were included, I'm sure they were probably very good. The host, Eli, was professional and polite. There is a spa on the property, and when we go again, I'm going to be sure and schedule something to pamper myself! The landscape was beautiful, and although it is a small property and is still in the process of a few renovations, nonetheless, we would definitely recommend this bed-and-breakfast, especially if you're looking for a place of quiet, rest and relaxation. read more

Cabin was beautiful and clean. All wood was very greasy though. This is our fourth stay at this bed-and-breakfast. It has slowly gone downhill year after year. The attention to detail is just not there. Breakfast is supposed to be from 8:30 to 9:30. We got there at 8:30 and there was no coffee. The floors were filthy. The lights were not even on and the water was in the same container from the night before.... not sure if it's management or ownership but details are brushed over for sure. For the money, we will find someplace else that pays better attention to details. This will be our last stay. read more

Over priced. The rooms are old and dated. Huge bathtub but it's dirty. Says that the rooms can accommodate three. But when you show up they charge another $100 for the third person. This place in no way is worth $300-450 a night. Breakfast takes FOREVER. you show up and it will be almost an hour before they give you food. read more

Pros: Stayed in the El Paso Cabin. Cabin was very clean and cozy with fireplace in the living room. Bed, Pillows, and linen were the most comfortable I've experienced. Complimentary Breakfast was delicious. Cons: No AC supplying the living room and was 84 degrees F when we arrived. Bedroom had .5-Ton Window AC Unit that cooled the bedroom down to 73 degrees F at night with doors into living room closed. Restroom Shower/Jacuzzi tub very dated with mildew along the sides. Summers in Texas and at the rate they're charging for these cabins, AC is a must. Would not consider staying here again. read more

My wife and I , we visited Blair House last months. And as usual we were not disappointed. The new owners, Eli and Vinnie Bains are putting new life into resort. The changes they have been making are wonderful and awesome. They both are Wonderfull and accommodating. Their staff very nice and professional. On top of standard Spa offerings (which are great), there is also a lot additional services offered. And dinner - fantastic. Breakfast served well, quick and is a great day starter. We stayed in January in the San Rafael cottage for $319.00 a night. I think for 3 nights for the quality of the stay that this was a little expensive. Accommodations were clean and decor was comfortable and quaint. The cottage is an older construction and there is an odd set up for where the closet where the water heater is and where the fridge and microwave and ironing board were contained. If you are looking at a remote quiet stay this was definitely a good location. It was too cold for us to take advantage of the pool. The check-in person was very friendly. The morning host/B&B person were polite but not super chatty which is fine with us because with the pandemic, we didn't really want to chat with people up close and personal. We have no idea what the vaccination status of the staff was and none of them were wearing masks. For us, we wore our masks in common places as that is what we are accustomed to doing so we were more conservative then all of the staff and a majority of the guests. The food was average and not what I would consider gourmet cuisine. Think Sandra Lee home cooking where it's 70% prepped and 30% homemade. It was comfort cooking circa 1980's. Familiar favorites but not cordon bleu which is at odds with their cooking school. I would not recommend the 5 course dinner on Saturday. We took a look at the menu and it was quite expensive for dinner for what was being offered. They have an automatic gratuity included in the meal that is more than $100 a person not including alcohol. The menu the weekend we went was a stuffed cheesy mushroom caps, broccoli cheese soup, nicoise salad, beef medallions, and a chocolate tart. If I am experiencing a 'gourmet' dinner, I want the foods to be ones that are challenging to make at home. I want someone else to sweat of the kitchen instead of myself. The menu does not seem complicated. The turndown service is offered every night except for Saturday. We had a large brownie and wine in a carafe on Friday and a large buttercake bar and wine on Sunday. These are old favorites but they are simple recipes that can be made with a simple cake box mix. On our first breakfast they served us a peach-flavored orange juice. we were also served a cup of fresh fruit. The breakfast included a hard cold biscuit and a small ramekin of sausage gravy that was barely warm. The belgian waffle was soft and not crispy and it had canned peaches on top. The best part of the meal was the sausage which was crispy and tasty. On our second breakfast they served orange juice with a cup of fresh strawberries and canteloupe. The breakfast included an apple cake was cold and hard but we were told it was made fresh that morning? II have used Sandra Lee's semihomemade short cuts and it felt like a box spice cake mix that was dressed up with some fresh apple chunks. The breakfast had a sausage/cheese ball (I have made this recipe myself which is breakfast sausage/bisquick/grated cheese). The breakfast quiche was a little off because the quiche didn't have cheese throughout it but instead had a thick heavy layer of cheese on top. It was almost too much cheese on top. On our third breakfast they served orange juice with a cup of fresh blueberries. The breakfast included a spiced muffin that was again hard and cold. The entree was crispy bacon (the protein has been the best part of each breakfast). The plate also included bananas foster french toast. They used fresh french bread which made the center of the french toast gummy and pretty much inedible. Little things that could have been better (at least or heat your bread item as they were hard because they were cold). The fruit cup was good and the protein was good. I will say this the portion sizes were very large but the food wasn't good so most of it was wasted. read more

Where do I start? This place is not your typical bed and breakfast. My best friend and I had our weekend here and let me tell you, this place was the PERFECT venue for it. We stayed in the main house which was convenient since breakfast and dinner was served in their dining room. The food was amazing - they even catered to my dietary restriction. They had a "wine down" on Friday night and brought us wine and brownies. The breakfast is complementary and is made fresh in their kitchen by a gourmet chef. (Who also teaches cooking classes during the week at the bed and breakfast.) I fell in love with their lavender / peppermint shampoo and conditioner and bought one to take home. It was so relaxing to be there, I have never felt so refreshed in a long time until we visited this bed and breakfast. They also have several cottages in which one is a day spa- so we had a 90 minute massage/facial. They also have a pool and a hot tub in case you want to soak in either one. And they have complimentary drinks (tea, coffee, water, assorted beverages, wine). Their service was top notch, beats any hotel service you'll receive. I would highly recommend this place. Chris and Lois (the owners) are so accommodating and welcoming. We also had a warm welcome from the manager (Juliane?), forgot her name but she was amazing as well. Oh and if you want a nice 5 course dinner, dress up for a Saturday night dinner. Well worth it! We started our meal with some shrimp "scampi style" over angel hair pasta (special requested low carb so they made zucchini noodles instead ) - delicious! Then came out the lentil soup (which tasted exactly like Filipino "mungo"), then the caprese salad, and the entree which was braised Osso Bucco over cauliflower mashed potatoes and steamed broccollini. For dessert - my favorite - tiramisu! We even had a chance to talk to the che I could not have been more satisfied. I am already looking into when we can come back. Blair Inn was the perfect choice to have celebrated a friend's pre 80 th birthday celebration. There were four of us and we had the whole house to ourselves. We booked the three rooms in the big house. Beautiful setting - top staff- delicious food- a Fox in the evening we named Blair- cool breezes in the evenings - we ordered hot tea upon our arrival for a ladies tea party - it was wonderful - served with delicious sandwiches - homemade scones- and a wonderful display of pastries and well - you will see the pictures of the delightful table. We were served wonderful breakfasts on our two night stay. And a picnic basket was available since we wanted to venture out to go to the Wimberley town square. We were told new owners had taken over and they have big plans to add wellness retreats, corporate retreats and cooking classes. We also made appointments at the spa on the property and wow - they were excellent. We had the reflexology massages and I would highly recommend. They are also done by experienced ladies. The Inn manager Jennifer was an exceptionally- personable lady- patient- accommodating and with her staff made our stay a most memorable one. I'm pretty sure this place is ideal for much older guests. Our party of 6 are in our 40's, every other guest is over 60. The outdoor atmosphere is great! Deer running around, fresh air, and great sunsets! This pricey B&B has a terrible breakfast. There was an egg loaf with no flavor or taste, it was like eating a sponge, dried up and burnt bacon, and fried rosemary potatoes. Fresh fruit was a combination of melons. The bland, low sodium, low taste food is certainly directed for the 60+ year old guests. The rooms are very antique looking. The bathroom is very dated with what looks like Spanish tile from 1970. The shower head was a single stream that was adjustable at one time. There is a jacuzzi tub that is peeling and has rust. The queen size bed was comfortable enough for 2 nights, however if you have sex in it everyone can hear . EXTREMELY squeaky bed, the slightest move woke my GF up multiple times. Community air conditioning is the worst. The thermostat is set for 71, but even with a ceiling fan, it was not cool enough for me. One couple of our group were staying in the cabins and their A/C went out the first night. One of buddy's and I were having a drink on the front porch and were nearly locked out at 9:30pm. I think the staff frowns on coming in late. Not worth the $200+ a night price tag. read more

The pool and hot tub were beautiful but a storm came through and we weren't able to enjoy them as planned! The nightly dessert and wine were much appreciated!! Raspberry tart was a great balance with the red wine! Breakfast was good! I enjoyed the peach cake more than my husband! The bacon was perfect!! Thick cut and cooked perfectly! We have been coming to the Blair House Inn since 2016 only to find out from this last visit that there are new owners. Things are sure different. It is still a beautiful, lovely and relaxing place. The staff is nice and the breakfast was delicious! They do need to update the website to disclose that the hot tub ( which we always enjoyed any time to the year) is not available right now due to construction and remodeling. We stayed in the Wimberley Cottage which has a separate bedroom and living area. The description says there is a TV in the living and bedroom area. There is no TV in the living area which makes no sense. So every time we wanted to watch something, we had to sit in the bedroom. It would have been nice to watch something and enjoy the fireplace at the same time. One evening we ate dinner on the floor of the bedroom as we were in the middle of a movie. A TV in the living area is more practical. Especially if you have multiple people staying in the cottage. We also had a voucher that after our 4th stay, we were supposed to get one night free during the week. The new owners wouldn't honor that. They said we could only have a discount on the 3rd night of the next visit. But we had to stay 3 night to get that? All in all, it is still a nice place. Just a few things were disappointing. I think updating the website would be a step in the right direction. read more

I stay at BNB all over the country and really never been treated poorly until now. Where do I start? My wife and I with another couple where traveling through the hill country and we had small motorcycle trailers on the back of our trucks so we could enjoy rides together this week. We arrived around 5pm and the rooms were not ready, we parked on a hill out of the way near the office and went into the office. The manager was pleasant and accommodating at first. After checking in we were told we couldn't park our trailer in the assigned parking area because the owner would get mad. Instead they wanted us to park about 1/4 mile away at some dusty farm building. We wanted to unload our luggage but they wouldn't allow us park at the office to unload. There was a maintenance guy riding around on a golf cart and we asked if he could help but he said the owner would get mad. So we had to haul our stuff up a hill 100' to our rooms. There was a large open grass area next to assigned parking was not being used for anything and we asked if we could park our trucks and motorcycles there and they said no, it's "green area" . Green area? Wth are you talking about? We are in the hill country for goodness sake. This space is perfect for trucks with trailers or even motor homes. So I moved my truck and trailer to the off site area they wanted but road my motorcycle back to the house and they wouldn't allow me to park at the office which is same level as the house. I had to park down the hill 100' feet away and trek up the steep hill to my room. I went in and sat in the common area to rest and cool off from the 99degree heat. While sitting there some man comes in and says hey is that your truck and trailer parked out front? NO greeting, no introduction, No hey how are you doing and welcome to our retreat, no offer of something cold to drink. I said no it's not mine it's my friend, he says with a scowl, well tell him to move it! Then he leaves. A few minutes later one of the employees tells me that was the owner! Meanwhile we are waiting for our rooms to be ready and my friend gets confronted by the owner and pretty much had a similar exchange of words with him. So my friend did the same thing as I and brought his motorcycle back. So then we are chatting with the manager and maintenance guy and we asked where the pool was. They point up the hill and said it's up there a ways. So I have a bad back, my hips are not great and I asked if he could give me a ride up on his golf cart, he said no owner won't let him. Terrible hospitality at this place, ownership has no clue how to treat guests! The pool was okay, but covered with ants and they are everywhere around the perimeter of the pool. The rooms are tiny, not well kept at all, bathrooms dated by 69 years or so and not in good shape. Tile coming loose and other things. The paint, caulking and drywall repairs were amateur! Then the breakfast in the morning. Think continental, no eggs no real anything except a small muffin and two tiny blueberry pancakes. What a joke this place is. Don't waste you're time at this place! Also to you the owner, your BNB is not handicap approved and your violations of federal and state government ADA laws are horrendous. read more

The 5-course meal was the most highly anticipated, yet most expensive and disappointing fine dining experience I have had in recent memory. The food that was served did not live up to the advertised standard. My friend and I chose Blair House Inn to celebrate our birthdays. What a disappointment! There were many recurring issues throughout the experience such as lukewarm food, poor proportions, and pedestrian preparation & presentation. But the worst meal was the 2nd course "gumbo," which was the dish in name only; it contained none of the ingredients that make a true gumbo. For the price of the meal, I expected much more and as a result, barely ate anything that was served to me and my friend. The only two aspects that made our dining experience tolerable were the wine and our waiter as both were equally fabulous. I do not recommend the 5-course dining experience because ultimately, the subpar quality of the food does not justify the table price. read more

What a great little getaway! The staff at the Blair House were very attentive, the grounds were beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, and our overall stay was great. My wife and I only stayed one night as we were traveling but we wished we could have stayed more. We happen to be the only couple in one of three guest rooms at the main house so we basically had the common areas to ourselves. The owner and his staff take pride in their customer service and the land was very peaceful. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast for its customer service, location to the square, and the comfortable beds. We will be back. read more

Lots of promise but lacking attention to detail. Odd, odd, odd was my wife's comment. My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in a cottage room in the pond house. It's okay there was no pond but a big empty depression in front of the deck was weird. We needed to get away, and for that, Blair House Inn did well. A bit off the beaten path in Wimberly, the pace is serene. As for the room, a bit dated with a "mishmash" of 1980s, it had the right ingredients but some tradeoffs. It's a country inn but with tropical prints and a fan but has lace curtains and Chinese elements, also in our room. It was immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable. For disappointments, it's nice that there's a modern TV and DVD player. But, it's off to the side, and with a four poster bed, you pretty much have to choose who gets the post or lie diagonally to watch together. The artwork on the walls was nice, but having a price tag on each was tacky. For the spa, best part of the visit. The two gals who gave us a couples massage were super. Despite us being late, they were accommodating. Why Chris the owner told us they complained too much was a mystery and not something a guest wants to hear. The food was the biggest disappointment for us. Dinner was Cajun and I can't say I understood the menu nor the ingredient choices, much less the execution. The scallops were good, leading us to believe more good things to come. The gumbo missed on several fronts: besides tasting of flour, 2 of the 3 shrimp in mine weren't peeled, even though heads and tails were removed. The main dish - pork chop stuffed with Tasso ham and Andouille sausage was sad: dry, and topped with pickled onions. Dresser was a flourless chocolate cake - just as dry as the pork chop. read more

Recently enjoyed a spa day at the Blair House Inn with my friends! The 90 minute massage was AMAZING! I can't say enough about it! The pool and hot tub were nice and what we expected. We had a whole weekend planned in Wimberley. We really didn't like the town. It was basically like going to Austin. We did however love the Inn and if we come back we'll just stay at the inn and double up on the awesome massages. The breakfast and Christmas dinner were amazing. Located in the tree covered hills of Wimberley, Texas with acres of great cabins, a hot tub, pool, pond and lots of local wildlife, lies the Blair House Inn. The entrance is tricky, and can be missed if you aren't paying attention, so be sure and map it out prior to your trip, as the reception is sketchy in these parts (which is a good thing, trust me). As you enter the premises, you are instantly taken away from big city life, greeted by families of deer and surrounded by gorgeous landscape. Check in is a breeze! We were in El Serafin cabin, located at the very top of the hill with a fantastic view, a jacuzzi tub and plenty of room. The jacuzzi tub and deck with gorgeous view were my favorite parts of the stay. Serfin is nice and secluded, perfect for someone who truly wants to get away and have peace and quiet; highly reccomend. I had the wine and cheese trays daily, but was unimpressed. The selection just wasn't spectacular. There was a Keurig machine with a selection of coffee and teas, as well as a microwave in the cabin. The bed was so comfortable, as was the living area. I spent some time on the couch, getting work done. The wifi was completely adequate. I had scheduled a deep tissue massage in the spa. The massage was ok, but hardly deep tissue. It was odd. Ridiculous amounts of oil, no deep tissue work at all. The therapist was nice, but I was not impressed. For $100 for an hour massage, I expected so much more. *I reccomend simply booking Melissa Kleen inside Wimberley if you're looking for a superb, healing massage! The breakfast each morning was nice. I didn't go down for supper, but can say breakfasts were always nice. All in all, the cabin was excellent, the view was simply amazing and the staff were all so accommodating and wonderful. I would definitely reccomend Blair House for a getaway any time! Adjust the stay to meet your needs and you can't go wrong. read more

The wife and I recently spent our wedding night at the Blair House Inn. We stayed in the San Gabriel cottage and really enjoyed it. Our only complaint is that we didn't have enough time to enjoy all that the property has to offer. The cottage was great as it was beautifully prepared for our arrival. There was chocolate cake and wine already in the room. We showed up just in time to catch the sunset from the front porch of the cottage while we enjoyed the wine. The room itself was nice and cozy and romantic, and had all the luxuries that we could ask for. The other memorable part of our stay was breakfast. We had some sort of green chiles migas dish that was amazing. Every part of breakfast was just perfect. I forget the names of the proprietors out there but they were extremely helpful and friendly. After Christmas every year, while everyone is still in town, my family has a really nice dinner out. We went to the Blair House last year and had a fabulous time. We decided to go back this year, big mistake! The ownership changed in the last year and with that came an arrogant new inn keeper and new staff including a new chef. We were continuously disappointed in the service throughout the evening. The inn keeper was down right rude when I requested his card so we could discuss organizing a cooking class, saying that he left those in a past life and that I could find his info online. The food was not very good either. The prime rib was over cooked and had an unappetizing grey hue, the mushroom porridge was bland and the "signature wine" served with dinner is a cheap label that I have seen at Trader Joes. I hope that this review is a wake up call to the new ownership. You are not that good and there is a lot of room for improvement. read more

We had a wonderful time here. The food was out of this world good. They made two special gluten-free treats for me. The vintner's dinner was a delight, bone-in pork chop, and a tiramisu that was so creamy it practically slid down my throat. And they sang happy birthday to my wife. My husband outdid himself when he made a reservation here during Mother's Day weekend (Sat through Mon). We were warmly welcomed by Sarah and our room was located in the main house. That evening's dinner (Sat) started with a cocktail time of 15 minutes before going into dinner. Chris warmly welcomed each guest as they arrived. My husband and I had a nice table for two beautifully set with fine china. Chris and Lois (owners) welcomed us and explained the food and chef who had prepared. Sarah and Joanna (hospitality staff) helped with the clearing of each course and providing really anything you needed. Each course was wonderful - no disappointments from the foods that were prepared and presented. The next day we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast (again beautifully set with fine china) before our on-site spa appt. Oh my goodness, I highly recommend making an appt for the spa. Afterward, we spend the day in Wimberley walking the shops. We checked out Monday, but not before having another wonderful breakfast and an opportunity to talk with Chris (owner) more. He and Lois bought the B&B five years ago and have added a cabin or two. They have done a beautiful job of making you feel welcomed, relaxed, refreshed by the time you leave. I was telling people about this bit of heavenly place before we even left. You will not be disappointed by staying here, even if it is just for their Saturday night dinner. We had the pleasure of staying at Blair House Inn for 5 nights and participated in their Oktoberfest cooking school. During our visit we stayed in the Wimberley Cottage, which is beautiful. On Saturday evenings, Blair House is host to a fabulous evening dinner; this past Saturday we dined on a five course meal with wine - it was delicious! The entire visit was a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary and enjoy the company of the hosts (Lois and Chris) as well as the other cooking school students and Chef Annie! Oh, and I should not forget to mention that each evening a wonderful dessert was delivered to our cottage and each morning Chef prepares a fantastic hot breakfast. We've stayed at Blair House Inn many times, and are already booking our next visit. Love this place! read more

A friend and i stumbled on this place while looking for a cooking school. Never having been to one I wasn't sure what to expect but we ended up having a great time. We were lucky enough to get chef Sebastian on his last weekend at the Blair House. We had a great time and learned so many great BBQ techniques. But we also learned about making ice cream and eggs benedict and bread; we had to start pacing ourselves as we ate everything we cooked. It was too cool to swim, but did use the hot tub one evening. We each had an incredible 90 minute massage. This is a great B&B out in the hill country, a great place to get away with your significant other. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. The room we had (a single room in the main house) was well appointed, clean and comfortable. the en-suite bathroom was nice, with a stall shower and a small microwave and fridge in the small closet in the bathroom. The WiFi was spotty and slow but that may be a result of it being out in the boonies. The food, however, was nothing short of outstanding. We stayed for the Saturday night dinner. A 5 course meal (this time with a rep from a local winery) that was nothing short of amazing. Breakfast was very good as well! A great place for a weekend getaway. Highly recommended! read more

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Blair House. Making a reservation was an easy experience, we spoke directly with the owner of the B&B and he was very accommodating, for the dates and for our dietary restrictions. The B&B is located in a very peaceful area, yet not far from the Wimberley plaza, making very easy to explore the area. Despite arriving quite late at night, getting in was easy, following their instructions. The quality of the rooms is exceptional: very clean, nicely furnished and the best part: the bathrooms are supplied with locally made, high quality body products (also for sale). The common areas are filled with lots of books, movies, board games, local attractions brochures. The walls are decorated with nice paintings (for sale as well). The food is great, the breakfast is healthy, delicious and filling. We strongly suggest staying over for dinner on Saturday, when the cook prepares his special, multi course meal. Exquisite! I loved seeing him picking the herbs in the outdoor vegetable garden. And he does not mind share the recipes! Finally, a word about the owners and the stuff: extremely courteous and friendly, we really felt like at home! read more

Review for the spa: The freezing cold AC was blasting during my entire message. The light was also way too bright. It felt too awkward to ask for better lighten and air temperature. This made it impossible to enjoy the experience. The conditions of the room were unfitting for a relaxing treatment. There was no consideration for comfort. I couldn't wait for it to be over. The message and facial were okay at best. It's also not a real facial, they don't look at your skin or offer suggestions. The message was kind of all over the place with very limited time on your actual concern areas. I'd advise you not to waste your hard earned money here. read more
