The only reason the kids score well is because every child is required to get expensive private tutors. 90 percent of the teachers are horrible, they hate teaching, they go on political rants, and they are absent more than the students. The kids vape in the bathrooms, and another children are afraid to go in there. No one cares about your child's learning. The school relies on its old South Tampa name, but it has gone extremely downhill. And the new principal doesn't seem like she is going to be any help. So sad to see a Tampa foundation crumble.

I filed a police report and went to school administration. They denied that this could happen as their kids didn't have a game on the given weekend. Later, they admitted loaning the field to a collegiate team, but would not pay for the window. It's my fault for not taking this to small claims court, as my window wasn't cheap.

This is a great school, the principle (Mrs. French) is AMAZING-knows most all of the students by name, even the 6th graders. My child is a good girl-her average yearly GPA is a 3.9. I think that being separated from boys is a great idea because the girls can focus on their studies rather than on the boys (don't act like you can't relate, or did you forget how it is to be a teen with raging hormones?). In my opinion, they need to create an all girls high school as well-but the county won't, nor those parents who think their 2 cents is needed (if you don't support single gender schools and have no intentions of enrolling your child in one-keep your opinion to yourself-this obviously doesn't apply to you and we don't need your voice heard in regards to this matter). At any rate, the area does kinda suck but having a magnet school in the area is just a tactic to bring/clean up the surrounding neighborhood, or so I assume. The school is old, obviously not the employees faults but not filthy. I believe the maintenance/cleaning crew has won an award for 2 yrs in a row now for their team/performance. The curriculum is challenging-but maybe that's because my daughter is in all advanced courses-yes, every last one (yes-I am a proud mother, but I am sure you get that by all I've said thus far). I have no complaints of the staff. The teachers communicate well, and the office staff are courteous. The HOST program is great and the HOST staff...well I couldn't ask for better. My daughter has been on the school's soccer team and also in band and I'll be adding Golf Academy to the list for this upcoming school year. Overall, this has been an excellent experience. I drive 20 mins. out of my way (taking Expressway of course, and tack on another 15 mins. to get to my job), but it is worth it to me. We fully intend on finishing out her middle school experience at Ferrell. My daughter loves the school and if she loves it, then I love it too. But a lot of the girls love the school and make good grades (of course not all)-so that should speak for something! Oh-and they do have school dances where the boys from the all boys prep school (Franklin I believe) come to attend. The girls also play their sports right before the all boys prep so there's a chance to mingle there for a few...and also in the summer HOST program, it is co-ed. So see? Not JUST all girls-they so get some boy interaction, it's just not on a daily which is fine by me! Besides, most girls in this age group would rather be around girls...this is the age range where they start to blossom. Oh, this is an Apple certified school, so each girl is assigned an iPad to carry throughout the day. Check it out-only you can decide what you believe is best for your daughter. I only see benefits for mine. This is an A rated school. It is new, I believe only 3 yrs old, but trust me, your child can reap more benefits by attending this school than a co-ed or traditional school. Go see for yourself :) Oh, and this review is not up for debate. I'm not interested in hearing the confrontational parent who wants to argue single gender schools, this is just my review on my daughters school, that we so love.

My daughter Elizabeth was enroled to this school because we moved from NJ to FL and wanted a fresh start. Things seemed to had started out fine first, but then the bullying started by one girl and her two little friends. It was just small things at first, like picking on her hair, her physique, and just little things. But then that turned into cyber bullying. They started to post terrible things about her on the app snap-chat and tick tock. We informed the school and teachers about this, but they just told her and me to ignore it. Then she started coming home with bruises on her face and arms. She said that started cornering her on the playground and jumping her, calling her slurs. Thankfully, we left this school after it got this bad and my sweet Elizabeth is ok now. I do also wanna say one ,ore thing, she told the the girl who did most of this to her was a child named Angie. There is a sickness in the administration. Don't get me wrong, there are some good people and good teachers there. The problems come from the administration. If you encounter any problems of any kind, they will close ranks and defend the school at all cost. They will side with the biggest donor, they will manipulate you to keep your tuition flowing. Take my advice, as a parent of two children who have attended CDS for the past 7 years, choose another school.
