I initially emailed for a quote and reference photos. Within 3 hours, I received a reply with flavor options and a price and a detailed response about placing an order, pickup, and a deposit. I decided to go int store to finish ordering and pay. We set a date to pickup and went over finalizing details about colors and flavoring. Everyone was professional and welcoming. On the day of pickup, my cake was ready upon arrival and was shown to me before leaving. I was very happy with the results and I knew my daughter would love it for her birthday party. I ordered 1/2 sheet and was able to serve 40-45 people, (some large, some small pieces depending on the person). Many people came up to me to ask where it was from because of how spongey and flavorful it was! We ordered almond flavor, strawberry filling, and whipped icing. Make sure if you order the German chocolate cake that it does NOT have the yucky white icing in the middle! Other than that, the cakes are very good, at a great price & made to order (except for the middle frosting) on time. Nice folks & reasonably priced compared to others. Got a custom cake for my girlfriends 24th birthday. She wanted a mermaid/under the sea theme, so I got a couple Pinterest pictures of what I wanted (4th picture). Just WOW! My stepdaughter is at Lackland and was unable to leave base for her first birthday away from home. I called to order a cake and get it delivered. The ordering process was super easy, pricing was really reasonable, and they delivered. My stepdaughter said the cake was really good (chocolate with cherry filling and whipped icing) and she was happy to get to share with friends. But the thing that was really fantastic is the extra mile they went for delivery. My kid doesn't have a car on base and the base would not let deliveries in. The gate is about a mile from her room and lugging a half-sheet cake a mile in the heat wouldn't be pleasant. My stepdaughter arranged for a friend with a car to meet the driver at the gate at a certain time, but then the friend was running late. So the driver came back a couple hours later to deliver. Such excellent customer service to be willing to make the delivery twice AND on Labor Day. Highly recommended business! read more

I used this company before and had no issues. I have two birthdays coming up one a 40th and one a 70th so I wanted to use them again. I started my process on 8/16 by emailing images to them then paying them on 8/18. I wanted to make sure they had plenty of time for both cakes. I called today since there is a holiday on 9/4 to make sure the cakes would be ready on 9/6 and 9/8. The gentleman that answered the phone today was very rude, not helpful and definitely made me feel like these cakes are not going to be ready. It felt like I was bothering him with my call to ask a question about something I've already paid for. My daughter's strawberry birthday cake was quite simply THE most delicious dessert I've ever put in my mouth & Ive spent 2 weeks in France eating all the sweets I could! 5 Stars for the design, layout and finished product. Looked very good.. Too Bad no one got to see the finished product at the birthday party. Large order of dinosaur cupcakes, that stood close to 4" tall - very top heavy for sure. Picking up the order I found the cupcakes were all in a VERY large flat cardboard box without any thing to hold the cupcakes in place. Box was something that would hold a full sheet of cake, maybe even bigge. It was so big it was difficult to get through the shop's door laying flat. When the cupcakes were presented for pickup, I questioned how they will ride in that box. I then heard what they said would work.. it was -- "there is a little frosting on the bottoms of the cupcakes that SHOULD hold them in place in the box".... damn I should of heard the bells going off in my head. NO WAY would those cakes stick to the bottom of a cardboard in the hot summer heat during transport in the back of the SUV. THEY are the "pros" in cake design, and I and you would expect that they also are experts in packaging for transport their products. RIGHT? But that was far from what happened for this order. VERY disappointed in their handling of this. Ordered specialty cupcakes for 175$ (4 Dozen). They were rather artist work heavy with toppers and shapes. That's why they are basically 4$ a piece. They were packaged in one giant box too large for all 48 so there was plenty of room for movement. No Cupcakes holders, no spacers, nothing to hold them still. Needless to say they are smashed and destroyed. I called them and asked them why no cup cake holders or anything to keep them still. They told me didn't fit in holders. I brought a holder with me from my house and placed them in it, guess what, they fit!!! I gave them my entire order back and they refused any form of refund. Not that it matters, i cant get more specialty cupcakes by tomorrow anyways. So i don't get to make my daughter smile one extra time at least i get plenty smiles for other things and we will still have a wonderful day despite this terrible business. read more

I asked for a certain cake for a friends birthday party and we talked about size, color and style I even showed him a photo of what I wanted. We had agreed on certain colors and I even pointed out a few samples of colors from cakes they had in the shop. I didn't receive the cake I had in mind and the colors were WAY off not even close. I used Blanca for my wedding cake, catering, table linens, and a bartender. I met Blanca at a wedding expo back a couple of summers ago and felt an instant connection with her. We went for the tasting and fell in love with each and everything she made for us. It was difficult to pick just two entrees for our wedding. I just received a cake from here as a birthday gift. It was super cute and expertly decorated but the taste just wasn't there. The cake was moist and tasty, but the icing wasn't very good. It was also not cream cheese icing as as requested with the red velvet cake. All in all, we'll probably try somewhere else when we need a specialty dessert. Update: We had the cake as leftovers today and I was hoping my initial impressions were wrong. But unfortunately not. The cake itself was still yummy, but the frosting is just off tasting. Business must really be booming. I've heard great things about Blanca's...so I sent in a request on August 3rd via the email on the contact page of the website. Then, I confirmed I had the right address and I forwarded the first message again on the 5th of August. It's now the 12th of August and still no message or phone call. I'll probably eventually get something back saying they were out of town or that Yahoo had a major server crash--that it was someone else's fault. The fact is...you're running a business, and customer service is key...timeliness is key, especially in the cakes and catering business. I was preparing to send a 3rd message when I decided to post a review instead...I will try to find someone else who can do what I was hoping to have done in the week or so remaining. :-( read more
