We came here after lunch for matcha and dessert! It was packed, very busy, and the staff did a great job of moving the line along. The iced matcha was so good - I love that I could get it totally unsweet. I also got the Opera Cake, as it's the safest thing for gluten free people according to the girl behind the counter. Good drinks, great vibes. I recommend it.
I make a point to visit La Panadería Bakery Cafe whenever I visit San Antonio! It's great for brunch, a sweet treat, and great specialty coffee drink, or all of the above! The food is Latina American flavors with European twist (they import butter from Europe!). Service is friendly, and all of the employees are hustlin' to do an efficient but quality job. No matter what you try, you can't go wrong! I tried the iced churro latte (if you have a sweet tooth, this is for you.) The tres leches croissant is light, fluffy fry, buttery, and perfectly balanced with a creamy filling with sliced strawberries. The interior is warm, bright, and welcoming. PERFECT for breakfast or brunch with friends.
Pastries, were fresh, and the displays were gorgeous. I opted to get a vanilla latte the morning I swung by. The inside inside of the restaurant was maintain nicely considering they had so many pastries displayed you do not have to worry about the presence of flies landing on the items. Service was quick and I may try to come back at some point to grab a more hearty meal for brunch but just wanted to have a quick grab and go.
I heard the line on memorial day ran 50 deep, outside the door, wrapped around the front of the building, and the best thing one could do was to have patience. Luckily for me, I went the day after memorial day so the lines weren't that bad and the red carpet laid out in front of the restaurant was all clear. I grabbed a menu before it was my turn to order. It's a lot to choose from and without pictures it's difficult to tell what most of the items are. Especially for a first timer. So, I ordered what the gentleman in front of me had which was a plain croissant with butter. It looked better than it tasted. I chose not to use the butter because the croissant was cold so butter wouldn't take to it well. I also ordered a side of scrambled eggs with cheese and avocado. The eggs were delicious, cooked well and flavored nicely. But my avocados were oxidizing so the presentation wasn't appealing. My husband's breakfast scramble was filled with eggs. cheese, and turkey, but wasn't filled with flavor of any kind. It's a lively atmosphere. Great for large groups. There's seating outside so if you're feeling like sitting amongst pedestrians walking by, it's perfect. The service was slow. Really slow. I overheard they were backed up so by the time my macchiato was delivered I was almost done eating.
This place lives up to the hype. Sooooooo delicious. The croissant that put them on the map (order it) and the avocado toast- that bread from a non bread person. The Americano was delish too! Beautiful seating area - great spots for working. There was a line but it went fast and they were killing it on the line.
I visited La Panadería downtown while handling a large group order for a film crew, and I have mixed feelings because the food itself was genuinely very good, but the pace of service seemed to impact some important details for us. We placed an order for around 15 people with separate sandwiches, soups, sides, drinks, and pastries. It was clearly a busy time, and the team seemed focused on moving quickly and keeping orders flowing, which I understand. However, none of the food was labeled, and with a large order that made my task much more difficult than it needed to be. They offer several soups that looked nearly identical, so we were opening containers, checking the website, and comparing photos to figure out which was which. I also had to open sandwiches and inspect ingredients to determine whose order belonged to who. It felt less like disorganization and more like labeling probably was not prioritized in the rush, but for a large order, it would have made a huge difference. We tipped generously on top of a $300+ order, so I do think labeling individual items for a group order would have been a thoughtful touch. Now for the positives: the food was delicious. The crew loved it. I had the steak sandwich and would get it again but with more sauce. The coffees were standout items, especially the seasonal latte (pictured on the drink menu) and the strawberry horchata matcha. We also loved the chocolate croissant, and the rainbow pastry was sweet, fun, and worth trying. Would I return? Yes, absolutely for personal dining or a smaller order. For larger pickups, I would recommend splitting the order into smaller batches or allowing extra time to sort through everything. Great food and great energy, just a few details that could make group orders much smoother.
If you could eat without consequence, this is the place I'd go. Holy flaky buttery sugar bomb! We yummed our way through the Dubai concha, smores cookie, tequila croissants, cookie croissants, peinata and baby cheesecakes. We almost got the lime cake but I asked about how it was colored and skipped it. Yes, I know the conchas are dyed as well but the pastel Dubai concha was less dubious looking. The concha had a nice crispy outer and surprisingly soft interior, with multiple fillings in the Dubai one, each bite enough to satiate while leaving you wanting to return for just one more bite. The tequila croissant was what I imagined the gods would eat alongside their ambrosia and nectar. So flaky and fluffy. The sweetness in all the pastries we tried was balanced and so full of umami. And everything size XL. The tres leche matcha with tres leches cold foam and fresh strawberries was delightfully refreshing and priced fairly. Service was with a smile. Everyone was cranking out the orders and keeping that line moving. Respect to the to-go packers for individually hand twisting pastries in a plastic square wrap, not just using a wax paper to pick and pack in a box. Pro tip: if you are ordering to go there is a separate take out line that takes you to a self order kiosk. There is staff in the area and a separate smaller screen so you may also be order from a human. Everyone was at the kiosk when I was there. Entrance is around the corner from the line. There was also a satellite station set up on the corner Sunday morning, where she had Dubai conchas after the store had run out. Interior is simple tables with some soft seating inside. The menu also offers savory sandwiches and salads. On pastries and tres leche matcha alone, this is a must visit in San Antonio.
The best concha ever! We stopped here to pick up some treats in the morning after staying downtown and loved everything! There was a long line outside, but I went right up to the outdoor stand to order some pastries. I got 1 vanilla concha (even the small is huge), 1 tequila almond croissant (recommended by the worker), and 1 guava cheese kougn amann. I asked if I could order a latte with her or if she only had drip coffee, and she told me to go in the back door and order right on the screen. Our lattes were ready within minutes. Easy in and out, and the coffees and pastries were delicious. Everything stayed soft and was so fresh. I would like to go back for breakfast next time!

There are high tops, regular tables, and couches, and they bring your food once they find your number. A little different, but it works. Food When I looked at the menu, everything looked GOOD. The Nutella croffin, the French toast... I was overwhelmed in the best way. I went with the tequila-infused almond croissant (I love an almond croissant) and a chai latte, and I'm obsessed. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and the almond flavor had just the right amount of sweetness. The chai was great too. I don't even usually like anything alcohol-infused, but it absolutely delivered. Overall So happy this place is not near my house because I would never meet any of my fitness goals. Loved it so much, I brought my best friend back the next day. Six stars based on pastry quality. I can overlook everything else. Love it, love it, love it.
One of those times where I wish Yelp had the option to rate in categories.... I would say overall La Panaderia Bakey Cafe gets a solid 3.7 stars from me. Production, atmosphere, and service: 5 stars!!! Upon arrival there was a very long line but to our surprise it went by very fast. How this place works is you get in line, order your food once you make it in, decide if you're going to dine in or take your items to go. They have loads and load of baked goods and set menu. Food: 3 stars We order the croffle and egg/ bacon croissant. Both were just okay! Came out pretty fast for how packed they were but overall the food was meh. The croffle was dry and lacked a wow factor. The croissant sandwich was big enough to share but was just ok. Matcha: 3 stars I've had worse and I've had better. Was drawn into the tres leches matcha but was expecting more flavor! Baked goods: 5 stars!!! Sooo yummy. Ordered ours from the little stand in the front. Very convenient and super yum. Panaderia mascot: 5 stars. No notes.

the kitchen forgot to make my friends avocado toast and bc of that they let us get 4 free pastries and refunded her avocado toast plus they still brought it out to her. AMAZING SERVICE!!! I RECOMMEND 10000% read more

The cafecito is always perfectly fresh. The vegetarian sandwich is my go-to, so imagine my delight to see it on their breakfast menu. La hora del desayuno", it's on Los Favoritos side of the menu. You can add egg, and is served on a round croissant (I normally get it on telera). It's a delicious experience of: Cilantro Mayo * Chipotle Mustard * Avocado * Swiss Cheese * Organic Greens Mix * Pickles * Tomatoes * Pickled Jalapeños. Warning: It's big enough to share or enough for two meals. Either way, it leaves you satiated. Buen provecho. When I opened my bag at work, I was bummed to see they forgot my side of black bean soup. read more

I'm obsessed!! This is my first time having a lobster roll on a croissant, and my first time having a concha. Sooooo good!! This is a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious bite to eat. My only complaint.... there's isn't a location close to my home! Excellent, food, service, and atmosphere! read more

While visiting the area for a conference I decided to check out this place and I was not disappointed! Great food for the price and such variety that really stood out to me compared to other places near by. As someone who was not from the area- all the staff were extremely nice!! Also the seatings arrangement was great. If you are not from the area this place is for sure TOURIST FRIENDLY!! read more
INCREDIBLE bakery, burger, coffee, and service! On a Saturday morning, there was a line out the door and down the street! We were given menus to look at while we waited so by the time we got to the counter, we were ready to order. The baked goods aren't on the menu, so when we walked by the counter filled with croissants, kouign amann, bear claws, apple pie, cheese cakes, it was hard to choose what we wanted!! We ordered: the Alamo Burger: a 8 oz wagyu beef smash burger , served with a fried egg, caramelized onions, cheese on a crispy croissant bun. It was incredible and worth the 15-20 minute wait! Almond croissant - a monster sized, flaky croissant with a generous almond filling. Guy Fieri highlighted this croissant on his DD&D show. It's probably a million calories not worth it! Tequila strawberry tres leches croissant - a small, cream filled croissant with strawberries. This was our least favorite. My husband didn't like the filling, I didn't like the sogginess of the croissant. Coffee - really good brewed coffee with free refills. We plan to go back a few more times while we're in town!! read more
Dog friendly patio which is 5 stars already! Super friendly staff, clean restaurant and delicious food! We came here after a long park walk to spoil our sweet pups even more. My husband and I had a ham and cheese croissant and the dogs had an over medium egg. Our server was fabulous and not afraid at all. This is our second time here (once in our own) and we will definitely be back! read more

There is always a line and usually out the door during busy times. And rightly so. Their pastries are some of the best I've tried around the US. I got the Ferrero Rocher conchas, Almond croissant (which a local favorite), and guava empanadas. Ferrero Rocher conchas - once you got to the filling it tastes just like a Ferrero Rocher chocolate but inside a bun Almond croissant - really like this one, I can see why it's a local favorite. The thin crispy almond flakes coupled with the texture and sweetness of the croissant is really delicous guava empanadas - this one fell a little flat because I've tried guava strudels from California that were divine. This one was a bit too sweet and wasn't as unique I also got their avocado toast with bacon. Wish the avocado was spread more evenly and that they would have added a hint of lime. Definitely not the best avocado toast I've had for the price but also not the worst. Inside is plenty of varied seating and I appreciate a nice backdrop for photos. We visited La Panadería Bakery in San Antonio and waited in line about 20 minutes before making our selection. We chose a Nutella cruffin, key lime cake, cinnamon cruffin and a s'mores cookie. The cinnamon cruffin was light and airy and the s'mores cookie hit the spot. When I ate the Nutella cake the flavor was there but the filling was very overwhelming that I ate only half as it was very messy. My spouse had the key lime cake didn't taste fresh like it had been made several days ago. The interview was busy with many customers eating Sunday brunch. I would go again but be more cautious of what I selected. read more

Pretty unique breakfast place in the heart of San Antonio. Amazing selection of their baked goods. I had the Mexican sandwich. They use their own bun, that has the texture of a croissant, to fill it with scrambled egg and other toppings. Go come here. read more
I wanted to try a local breakfast place so I headed here in the morning. There is lots of seating, but it was packed! There are a wide array of baked goods to choose from, all of them look yummy. Great cook to order options for breakfast as well! I opted for a pastry and sweet tea and both were delicious. read more

This was the first place that I've tried a concha that not only had a crispy top, but also a fluffy and soft interior. I didn't really like conchas before, but maybe I just never had a good one! The tequila croissant was good, but a bit underwhelming. The drinks were standard. I would definitely return for another concha, though! There's ample seating and the service is relatively quick and friendly, all things considered. There was a line when we went on a Monday morning, but it moved fast! read more
Whether you're looking to have a light breakfast, boozy brunch, or pastries to go, this is your spot! They have empanadas filled with guava, pineapple, strawberry, or apple deliciousness! I also got jalapeño and plain kolaches (they're huge). Shout out to Val for seeing that I was a customer that needed accessibility assistance and prepping everything in a way that was easy for me to carry. This location gets pretty packed even in the early hours of the morning but it's still a nice ambiance. Make sure you find suitable parking options beforehand. read more
I have heard great things about this bakery for many years and finally got the opportunity to visit while in San Antonio. I ordered the famous Tequila Almond Croissant and it was phenomenal. I paired this with a well made latte for the perfect afternoon snack. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious baked goods. read more
We heard great things about this place, so we had to check it out on our work trip to San Antonio. We lucked out by going on a Thursday around 12:30pm - the line was not long and we were able to order quickly and get a seat for a large party. Be careful if you are going on a weekend, though. The line can get very long and go all the way down the street! The seating is first come, first served, so you order first and then find a seat. The baked goods all looked fantastic, but I tried the jalapeño ham and cheese croissant and the famous tequila and almond croissant. Both were very tasty and the tequila almond one was very unique and creative. For lunch, I ordered the Al pastor torta and the campechana soup. The torta was so delicious on the birote bread, which was both crispy and soft and created a wonderful texture. Israel, the staff behind the counter, was extremely friendly, patient, and helpful in assisting me with figuring out what to order - everything on the menu looked so good! We had a slight issue with one of our orders, but the staff and management team were extremely accommodating and nice. The customer service was amazing here. I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area, but make sure you are ready to wait in line! Totally worth it. read more
We were visiting San Antonio and our relatives took us to La Panaderia Bakery Cafe. It was Saturday around 11am and when we arrived, I couldn't believe there was such a long line! I hoped this meant it must be a delicious brunch spot. While the line was long, the cafe does everything they can to keep folks entertained such as their mascot strolling back and forth taking photos with the diners, a DJ, bakery and coffee cart available for items to purchase while waiting, and staff passing out menus to help keep the line moving once you get inside. The DJ's playlist was great. We were in line for about 30 minutes before we were able to move inside the door then had about another 15 minutes before we reached the cashier. When you are moving through the inside line, they have a beautiful display of their fresh baked items, including their famous conchas you can pick from along the way. Once you reach the cashier, you can place and pay for your order and they will provide a number to take to the table as well as any drinks you ordered. They do have prosecco, beer, juices and coffee available. We placed the order and found a table. Our food arrived within 10 minutes. While we waited we enjoyed proseccos and mimosas which were served with an upside down Prosecco bottle in a large glass. Very cute. I ordered the Ranchero Eggs Benedict with House-made Ranchero Salsa ChipotleHollandaise * Poached Eggs. I added smoked pork. It was very good. Eggs poached perfectly, delicious ranchero sauce. The pork was good although I didn't taste a smoked flavor. I believe it was served in tasted sourdough bread. Although I normally don't care for an 'order at the counter' type of restaurant. I really liked this cafe and glad we were able to dine here. I would definitely go again. read more
La Panadería is my go-to brunch and lunch spot in San Antonio. I've been several times now, and it's become a running theme that when coworkers travel to San Antonio for work, we all end up at La Panadería--and everyone back home gets jealous. I even recommended it to my manager on his first-ever trip to San Antonio, and he went twice during his stay a week ago . What I keep ordering: Tres Leches Croissant - my favorite thing on the menu. Soft, flaky, and just the right amount of sweet. Tequila Steak & Eggs - one of the best brunch dishes I've had anywhere. Guava Empanadas - I buy extras and take them home on the plane. Agua Fresca de Jamaica - refreshing and not overly sweet. Pan de Muerto (during Día de los Muertos) - a great seasonal option. Good to know: There's usually a line, so it's worth giving yourself a little extra time. It's always been worth the wait. Overall: Consistent, flavorful, and easy to recommend. If you're in San Antonio, La Panadería should absolutely be on your list. read more
This was quite the popular hot spot in Downtown San Antonio...with lines out the door on weekends. We actually stopped in here twice during our trip...because I'm such a pastry whore! I also loved the comfy, inviting ambiance. Their selection wasn't massive, but there were some lush pastry varieties. We tried 5 varieties of pastries...but I can't remember all the names. We spent 24 hours in San Antonio for a weekend trip to see Zach Bryan in concert, and during my research on things to do in the city. La Panaderia came up time and time again. So I knew I had to stop by since it was only a 3-minute walk from the Holiday Inn at the Riverwalk hotel. We came on a Sunday at 10:00 am, and we were not surprised by the extremely long line out the front door. I knew by reading reviews that there was going to be an outdoor cart to pick up pastries to go if you didn't want to dine in. Rick at the outdoor cart was so friendly and helpful. He told me only carried certain pastries in the cart because some pastries would melt in the hot outdoor Texas sun. He said there is a self-ordering to-go kiosk screen indoors to the left of the cashiers, where you could order anything on the entire menu. As we left the cart, I heard him telling other customers that La Panaderia was started by 3 brothers, 2 live in San Antonio, while the other lives in Mexico. The 3 brothers are represented by the three stars in the logo. There are 5 locations all over San Antonio. On the to-go kiosk, I ordered a Nutella cruffin, Coca-Cola soda in a glass bottle, and a chicken milanesa torta on a croissant, which came with a side. There were no descriptions of the food on the menu, which would have been incredibly helpful, so I was intrigued by what a campechana soup was, but did not want to keep people in line waiting if I were to look it up. So I just settled on a fideo soup since I was already familiar with it. Altogether, from the moment we got to the restaurant to us getting our to-go order, it was about 30-40 minutes. But the wait was worth it because my torta was so delicious and cheesy. The croissant was so buttery and flaky. My fideo soup had magical healing powers. The Nutella cruffin survived the drive back home to Austin, and when I ate it for dessert after dinner, I loved its generous serving of Nutella, Nutella whipped cream, and how it was balanced by the croissant shaped in a muffin form! The restaurant was decorated so beautifully, with rich red and wood everywhere, and lots of options for seating, including leather couches, tables, and an outdoor patio. If you decide to stop by here, try to come early in the morning or on a weekday to avoid the popular brunch rush. I wish there was a location in Austin, cause it would be a major hit. If/when I ever come back to San Antonio, I will be sure to drop by! read more

Today we got up bright and early to try La Panaderia because yesterday there was a line a block long..... all day. First timers I'm sure will cringe at the sight of a $15 breakfast sandwich, BUT that line said that there is something delicious in there. We started off with this delicious Nutella pastry and soon after the Breakfast Burger sandwich arrived and it was HUGE and full of flavor, there is so much going on under the hood of this beast.... Came back today for a turkey torta with Caesar salad. Looks like they got rid of the spicy dressing for the Caesar. It was good. So was the sandwich. There's a line out the door but it moved quickly. I was also able to find a table. read more

You will have to use a municipal parking garage across the street. It's $3/hour usually, but could be more at times.
