These cakes are always so moist, flavorful, and done right. They're absolutely delicious the perfect amount of sweet, never over powering. Their service is amazing, even when I order at the last minute they always deliver!!

I've ordered from Sweet Secrets multiple times, especially their German Chocolate cake, and each time I request no sprinkles. I even dang near beg them NO SPRINKLES because I hate sprinkles and every time there are sprinkles!!! It's like they cannot help themselves, regardless of what you ask for they are going to do WHAT THEY want to do. Last week I went in to order mine & my husband's 50th birthday cake. I ordered a 2 tier, ombré frosted cake in Tiffany blue/darkish teal color...what they delivered was barely ombré but the worst part was the color of the frosting was literally mint green. Our theme colors were Tiffany blue and black so the mint green completely clashed and I hated having to display that cake. They completely ruined the experience for me, especially since Tiffany blue is my favorite color and my husband is an amazing man who let me have my choice of theme colors even though it was his birthday party too.

I was looking for a banana flavored birthday cake and frosting. I looked around and this bakery popped up. I ordered the cake and it was Delicious. Devin was very helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this bakery for sure. Due to my work schedule my sister picked it up for me. Place was clean.

First time buying a cake from here and I was NOT disappointed not a big cake fan but honestly one of the best cakes I've had definitely coming back

This place is so wonderful! Yvette always makes the most delicious cakes. Her buttercream frosting is just perfect, not too sweet, wonderful consistency. The cake is always moist and delicious! Everyone always gushes compliments and asks where we got our cake from. She decorates simply with beautiful flowers or is happy to accommodate anything you have the you may want to incorporate. I needed a plain vanilla cake with light icing for a birthday cake for someone who only likes vanilla cake and really didn't want any frosting (weird, I know). This was the best vanilla cake I think I've ever had and the icing was loved by everyone! So delicious!! Might have to order a chocolate cake just for me!! Placed order at 8 and was ready to pick up at noon! I'm totally impressed. The cake was made that day and was fresh and amazing!

I was lucky enough to find this bakery near me, and place an order for my birthday cake this year. The woman who took my order was so kind, and was even kinder in person, according to my boyfriend who picked up the cake. I served this cake at my party, and every person was asking who made the cake, and where I got it from! It was so delicious! Such a quaint business, you will not regret spending your money here! Ordered a cake out of curiosity & had a birthday to celebrate. I'm always looking for great food not your average. I mean who does not like a good cake? I was skeptical from reading the Yelp reviews. Ya. Believe it or not I don't use Yelp as often as I should. Ordered the citrus cake, with a curd filling, in advance, early that week. Lady who took the orders was very attentive and asked all the right questions to clarify the order. Confirmed the order and given an appt to pick up the cake. The decoration on the cake was antiquated in style. Really surprised in the lack of effort. So I'm carrying this cake started to question what the heck did I just buy? Well the others think I was trying to skimp on the cake expense. Which this cake ran $50 comparable in price to other bakeries. I wouldn't have mind paying more for a better end product. We cut the cake later that day. The cake was nothing I mean nothing to brag about. Was a moist cake yet a bland tasting cake. Just a bit average on the cake flavor. Noticed this baker has a list of followers. So good for the baker. Personally I would not order a cake here. HEB has better tasting cakes.

Firstly the customer service here is amazing!!!! My family has been getting cakes here for years and years and we have never had any complaints! I got my Mom's birthday cake along with some cupcakes yesterday and everything was amazing! The strawberry shortcake birthday cake was a fan favorite for sure!! The tres leches, German chocolate and coconut cupcakes were amazing also. I will definitely be purchasing all of my cakes from here from now on! Highly recommend!!

I wanna say this is a 3.5/ 3.8 for me. Came in early on a Monday morning and bought 3 regular sized cupcakes. Strawberry (not pictured), german chocolate, and vanilla- the cashier was kind enough to offer me sprinkles. Service was excellent this visit. *side note: The first time I came here, I set up a wedding cake tasting, but the place looked closed, I called them and no one answered, so its been a few years since I've considered making another trip to the area. Recently I had a coworker order a cake here and rave about this bakery, so I gave them another try (hit up a few bakeries this past Monday in hopes of finding a favorite cupcake shop in SA).* The cupcakes were freshly made, good with a nice buttery frosting, not overly sweet. The cupcakes tasted very homemade, but had some large cake bubbles (a sign of overmixing); while this is a good cupcake I don't think its my favorite.

So the attorney I work for his birthday is January 6, and I forgot to order his cake early in the week, so I placed the order Thursday afternoon and Devon promised that he would have it ready Friday, and I was so appreciative that he was able to accommodate me with my order. The staff is so wonderful and the cake was so delicious. I really liked the ambiance of a small family owned bakery. I highly recommend this bakery, you will not regret it.

I was so happy to find this lovely lady who took my order for a graduation cake with a week lead time. I found her right here on Yelp! We discussed what I needed and the school colors and the fact my granddaughter was a softball player. She told me she had decorations that would work. Fresh strawberries in the middle and I was thrilled! I picked up the cake as planned and the shop was busy with other pickups and customers ordering for an event. When the young man showed me the cake, I had no words. I just paid him and left with the cake. To say it looked pathetic is being kind. All I kept thinking was how badly I wanted it to taste good and have strawberries in the middle. It had a few. I appreciate she took the job, but I wish she had turned it down.

Absolutely love this bakery, it is a hidden gem on Callaghan. Yvette and her son are amazing bakers. The flavor of their cakes has always been on point. French vanilla frosting with vanilla cake, you would think it would be just so plain.. but their cake and frosting is exceptional! Never change the recipe and never go out of business. This bakery has done my wedding cake, anniversaries, birthdays and just because cakes... love, love, love them!! read more

Yvette at Sweet Secrets Cake Shop is an exceptional CAN-DO proprietor! If she can bring someone happiness by delivering one of her delicious cakes, she will fly to the moon and back! The day of my granddaughter's birthday, on a moment's notice, she decorated and delivered a spectacular cake. Yvette took care of me as if I were "family," attended to every detail, and made the impossible possible from across the country. A yummy custom cake delivered to my delighted granddaughter without a hitch. I can't rave enough about this cake shop. I've used Sweet secret cakes since 1997 for special occasions. Their vanilla cake with buttercream icing still tastes as great as it did back then. You can't get that quality or taste anywhere else, especially not from a supermarket. Delicious! read more

We just had our twins birthday and we had several flavors in their layered cakes. Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Strawberry shortcake and Italian cream. Every layer was most, delicious and beautifully decorated. Our guests kept asking who made our cakes. We will only be ordering from them from now on. read more

My sister and I have been using Sweet Secrets for probably 20 years to deliver a birthday cake for my grandmother and now my uncle. We live in Austin and could not deliver it ourselves, so way before every place delivered, I Googled to find a bakery close to my grandmother. I am so, so glad we found Sweet Secrets. My grandmother fell in love with the double chocolate cake, and although we have never been in the shop, and only order 1-2 times per year, the owner remembers me every single time. Long before electronic payments, the even trusted us to put a check in the mail for the cake (that would arrive after the cake was delivered). I cannot say enough about the quality of the cakes or the customer service. read more

I found this place on the internet, and I'm so happy I did. I was looking for a birthday cake, and wanted something other than chocolate or vanilla. I viewed their website and was very impressed by the various flavors they offer. I settled on the Tres Leches, which was one of the best I've ever tasted. The service was fantastic when I placed my order, and the experience in their shop was even better. The shop has the ambiance of a small family owned bakery, which is a pleasant change of pace vs the big box grocery stores. I've found my new favorite cake shop and cant wait to try another flavor! read more

Ordered Tres Leches cake. The top was beautifully decorated as you can tell from the photos. As far as the cake itself...did not have enough "leche" - The middle was slightly more moist, but it was still a very dry cake. The cake itself also wasn't very fluffy in texture that you'd expect from a cake shop. I read reviews raving about how good the Tres Leches cake is, but it really feel short of expectations from a taste stand point. read more

I found this place on the internet, and I'm so glad I did. I was looking for a Birthday Cake for my partner, and wanted something different. When I visited their website, I was so happy to see the varieties of flavors they offer, it was hard to finalize on their Tres Leches....WOW. The cake was really beautiful, decorated with fresh flowers and the writing I requested...it was perfect. When we ate it later that evening...everyone agreed it was one of the best Tres Leches they had ever had. The frosting was perfect....just the right amount of sweetness, and the moistness of the cake was spot on! Their shop is a bit hidden, but Apple Maps took me right there. The shop itself is simple...and has that home business vibe to it. The folks that run it, were so courteous when they took my order, and even nicer in person. This is my new cake shop in town...and one of my favorite small businesses I've had the pleasure of working with. read more

I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate icing for my husbands birthday. I specifically told them I didn't need it decorated. The cake I got had blue icing and the only chocolate was the filling. when I told them that it wasn't what I ordered, the lady simply said "Well, that's how we make them." This wasn't the first plain cake I purchased from them so I knew they made a mistake. She never apologized or offered to make it right. read more

The meal is spent looking down and hoping my beloved or other guests don't see the schmear up to my nose. By the end, we are having to reconstruct our bagel, as it looks like roadkill on the table. It is not a user error, as we eat slowly and carefully. I even have friends who refuse to come back here because it was the messiest eating experience of their lives. It's so unbelievably messy. We have to rinse off in their bathroom before leaving. I have to take my rings off and put my hair up. It's a commitment, one we are not strong enough to make at this point. I ordered a "photo" cake for my daughter 5 years ago with her photo and the logo of the University that she would be attending for a high school graduation celebration. It was absolutely perfect. Now, 5 years later, I was in a very last minute rush to order a similar cake for my son's high school graduation. Sweet Secrets exceeded my expectations and accommodated an extremely short deadline that no one else in the city could or would. While I had to choose White or Chocolate cake (of course, the latter!), the cake was amazing and everyone asked from where it was purchased. Sweet secrets will always be my 'go-to' bakery for cakes now and in the future. I can't wait to try the other flavors, especially the Tres Leches! She made the beautiful and yummy wedding cakes for our daughter,/son's weddings, numerous cakes for birthday's and special events. Her icings and creme fillings are delicious! I'm sure this girl that made my cake is New…read more I say that because the cake TASTED HORRIBLE for the first time and the writing on the cake was like a kindergarten, it wasn't centered and my daughter who's the birthday girl was very unsatisfied. My daughter told the girl her concern about the writing as well as it being centered, The girl response was that she couldn't do it. My daughter is not conversational. She's only 20 and she respects her elders. I was on the phone so I couldn't go in there to correct the problem being that I paid $95 for a cake with chicken scratch handwriting. I immediately called up there the girl at first tried to make it seem like someone else had wrote it also told me my daughter said it was OK and then when my daughter starts speaking and said no, I did it. I told you , you said you couldn't fix it then she went on to tell me the truth and just say oh well it will take a long time but if I came back up there, she'll fix it. We stay away in Converse, Texas, Lettys is on Fredericksburg. Why do I have to drive my gas back over there for you to try to fix the cake? This is the day of her birthday. We have prior arrangements and why would you say you can't fix it but now you can fix it. The girl told me she'll call me back to see what we could come up with. She never called back. I called talk to the owner. I believe she shows me a half cut video of the girl closing up the box not the full conversation that her and my daughter had when my daughter mentioned to her that she wanted the writing fixed. So since she only gave me half of the video because my daughter was being nice and respectful with the girl and they were talking, she felt like my daughter was OK with the cake. No ma'am, she needs to post a video of the whole interaction when my daughter first walked in. She's really trying to insult my intelligence. From the cut video to offering me $15 back . $15 is crazy.

The cake was beautifully decorated and looked exactly like something you'd be excited to serve at a special event. Unfortunately, the taste was a completely different story. When the cake was cut, the red velvet layers appeared discolored and uneven in color, with some sections looking dull and brownish rather than the rich red color you would expect. The cake itself had an off flavor that was difficult to ignore, lacking the classic mild cocoa and tangy notes of red velvet. It was not velvety at all. It tasted OVERLY salty and left an unpleasant aftertaste. The frosting looked fine and had a smooth texture, but it was also noticeably salty and did not have the creamy, slightly tangy flavor typically associated with cream cheese frosting. Multiple guests commented on the SALTY flavor, and several people did not finish their slices. One thing I've always appreciated about Gordon Ramsay's approach to food is his reminder that presentation means very little if the food doesn't taste good. A chef or baker should taste what they're serving. A beautiful cake can impress people for a moment, but flavor is what people remember. Graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and I was disappointed that the cake became a topic of conversation for the wrong reasons. The appearance was excellent, but the taste did not meet expectations. I hope Buttercream Bakery takes this feedback seriously and places as much emphasis on flavor as they do on presentation. I paid over $200 for this cake. They offered me an e-gift card of $100. I don't live in San Antonio. I could give it away to my family here, but I made the payment!

It's a bakery and a coffee shop, it's super spacious inside and there's tables to sit at if you want to do work or study, it would make a great spot for that. The cupcakes are so adorable, and they were also so yummy! I'll be back here to try more stuff and try some of their coffee!
