Let me tell you - Nancy and the Blanche Darby team went above and beyond! We were in need of a same day order - a fruit basket and a tray of baked goods. They not only fulfilled the order of the fruit basket, but they even went out of their way to pick-up a tray of baked goods I ordered from a local bakery so both items could be delivered at the same time. Blanche Darby's is the best! I have used this florist for years, ordering from Florida for deliveries to family in South Carolina. Recently, when i made a mistake typing in the house number, the driver discovered the error and did the detective work to get the flowers where they needed to be! I would not recommend this florist. The flowers delivered were badly bruised, the roses had brown dead spots and the blooms were falling off. This was a replacement bouquet as the first delivered arrangement was doing the same thing.After reaching out the first time, I was frustrated even more with the replacement. I really want to just return the entire arrangement, because looking at the quality and lack of attention to the details makes me more upset than just not getting flowers at all! First, the flowers delivered looked very little like the picture on their website. There were just a handful of flowers and few pieces of filler greenery. Second, a complete lack of customer service. I called, and messaged through their website, and they did not even respond. Very disappointing. read more

The specificity with which I ordered flowers for my mom may have been annoying to the young employee taking my order but honestly I don't like filler flowers, specifically carnations, and I wanted colorful sans pink. I offered ideas of specific flowers to include in the arrangement, but when I picked up the arrangement, I was shocked by how the guidelines offered were completely disregarded to the extent that I asked for it to be rearranged. What I found out was there were very few extra flowers in the shop to work with for my arrangement because they had used their entire stock for a wedding for that day. I had to disappointingly take it as is, which included dreadful pink filler carnations. This was not the first time I had a negative experience--I had ordered a centerpiece for a baby shower with roses and hydrangeas and it showed up with an ugly yellow filler flower, which completely threw off my color scheme. The arrangement had been left on my front porch in the heat of early September. When I called to complain to the florist that I had to yank out the ugly yellow sprays, she apologized and didn't charge me for the arrangement. After this customer service experience felt obligated to give this place a second chance but they are 0 for 2 in my book. read more

We stopped ordering from Darby because every arrangement we ordered looked like they had been left in the truck for days. Since these flowers were headed for a person in assisted living it seemed like the florist thought no one would be checking on the freshness of the arrangements. On most occasions they sent out a replacement a few days after the event or holiday had pasted. Tried them again last week and they sent a container with florist tape taped to the sides of a vase to hold flowers. Apparently they were out of oasis which is the green foam inside the container to hold the flowers in an ARRANGEMENT and retain moisture. A first for me! read more

If you want more leaves than flowers in your bouquet, then by all means call Blanche Darby. I just paid over $80 for a "Premium" bouquet and received 6 roses and 8 lilies. From the pictures advertised online, I don't think this would qualify for the "as shown" bouquet. I won't be using this florist again. read more

My parents lived in Charleston for all their lives (each over 80 years) and were business owners for almost 40. They always used Blanche Darby and when they passed away I turned to Blanche Darby for their funeral flowers. Each time the casket sprays were breathtakingly beautiful, and I have continued to use this florist for the five times a year I have flowers delivered to their graves (each birthday, Father's Day, Mother's Day and Christmas). They always text me a photo of the flowers on the grave and the one time we had a problem, they were apologetic and quickly delivered a lovely replacement. My father's birthday was last week, and in addition to delivering another beautiful arrangement, they trimmed the grass around the headstone and sang Happy Birthday to him. I highly recommend them for their customer care and attention to the detail. read more

We don't feel comfortable labeling this business with a star but we wouldn't be honest people if our experience and observation wasn't noted; ordered online, properly went through the process, checked out with our credit card and received our order number and confirmation note thanking is for our order. We called the next morning for peace of mind. We were told: there was no record of our order. We gave our order confirmation number and was told the confirmation number was meaningless. Here what we were told: "that number is for you not us, why didn't you just call us?". We endured and explained it was for our dear friends funeral. Here's what we were told: "I can't do nothing the truck has already gone for the day." When we enquired about the moneys (credit card), here's what we were told: "since you have the confirmation number, you might get charged in couple days." -no other words. Just don't go there. Ordered online, not familiar with the area - picked florist closest on the map to my relative's home. Got an early morning call on my cell phone about "out of the delivery area" we'll have to wire the order, etc. Immediately called back, left a message on the woman's cell phone, asked her to call me back if I needed to authorize more delivery charge on my credit card, or place the order elsewhere. Never heard back. Called today (Christmas Eve day) as my relative has not received delivery. Woman claims she never got my message, order was voided. I asked could she please recommend another florist who might serve the little town where my relative lives. No, she doesn't know anyone else. Can you say, "I don't want to be bothered" any more clearly? Of course was thanked for my business with a fake sugary-sweet southern accent. Wtheck? read more

I selected this florist because their website said they were open on Sunday (http://www.blanchedarbyflorist.net/about_us.php) and I was looking for a Sunday delivery. I placed my order well before the cutoff deadline for same day delivery directly on their website and received a confirmation email that it would be delivered that day. The flowers never showed up. The next day I spoke with a representative at the shop who informed me that they are not open on Sunday and do not offer delivery on Sunday. I asked that my order be cancelled. I'm very frustrated that not only does their website list them as being open from 9-2 on Sundays, it also allows you to place an order for delivery on Sunday. read more

DO NOT use this florist!! I should have known not to use them when I walked in to order to prom flowers and the ladies didn't even acknowledge me. When one of them finally did come over, she insulted me by "assuming" that the flowers were too expensive for what I wanted. (that's the impression I got) After clearing that up, she was right...the flowers were too expensive for what I received!! For all you florist out there be very weary on accepting orders from this shop!! I filled a $60.00 order with 3 lg hydrangea blooms, roses, Peruvian lilys, etc. Large arrangement stood about 2ft tall. traditional full and very fresh. we receive flowers every Saturday morning. Without any explaination not even a phone call! They sent a price change 14 days later to $30.00! I will not be accepting anymore orders from this florist! We take a lot of pride in our work and go above and beyond for fellow florist and filling orders. I do not let anything leave our shop unless fresh, full and to customers spec. We are the shop that always adds extra to our arrangements. My flowers come straight from the grower, no middle man, no shipping and handling, so I can afford to give xtra and I always do. read more

The order was taken over the phone by Teri, and the designer successfully matched our requests with a beautiful assortment of flowers and greenery that greatly exceeded our expectations. I have used Blanche Darby for many floral requests over the years and this was once again a very positive experience. I will be using them again and I would certainly recommend them to anyone else. Do not order gift baskets through Blanche Darby. My relatives (who live out of town) ordered a get well gift basket for a sick member of my family and the basket was suppose to have about 20 name brand candy and chips in it and what we got was the exact opposite. It had 7 items in it, and almost all were just store brand items (Harris Teeter brand). The basket also included unusual gift basket items such as black licorice and sour "Rip" pieces and a jar of peanut butter. The family member ended up not eating any of the basket because she did not like any of the items, whereas she would have liked the items that were included in the picture of the basket online. We were very disappointed in the way this company arranged their basket and handled the problem. My relatives complained, and the next day, a person from Blanche Darby came to our door with another gift basket and demanded that we give them back the original gift basket before they could give us the new one (which looked like it had most of the same items in it..). We had opened the first basket, since we had no idea that the items were incorrect until my aunt later asked for a picture of the basket and realized that the basket looked nothing like what she had paid for. In the end, we never got a new basket. Take your money to a different florist who will not rip you off like these people did. This website made me give at least one star, but they should have received zero stars. read more
