They had by donation hot chocolate, coffee and cookies during the fifteen minute intermission. The acting was also on par with expectations for a small theater. The staging was basic, but perfect in conveying the feel of the show. There was also a person playing the violin as we entered the venue. They put every effort into the feel and comfort of their patrons. I will definitely be back! Can't wait to see more!!!

This little theater and glade really captured both my heart and my imagination a few weeks ago during the Butterfly Festival. There's a poignant story behind the name of the EmilyAnn, but I'll leave it to you to discover it on their website. There's an equally touching story behind Justin's Castle, but you'll have to visit in person to learn about that one. What I didn't know was that there were so many events held here. Christmas features a trail of lights. There are various theater productions throughout the year at the three outdoor stages. There's a beautiful Veterans Memorial Plaza and stage at the top of the hill. There's a life-size chess-checker board. And a betrothal tree. In short, the EmilyAnn is not just a one-trick-pony. Parking is next door at Wimberley High School. I'd like to say the grounds are accessible, but unfortunately they're not. However, there is an access road for drop-off at the main stage at the top of the hill. Instead, if you call ahead, they will apparently make arrangements for golf cart service for those with mobility impairments. Live a little. Life is short. Check this place out sometime soon. You'll be glad you did.

This is the second time I have been here and both times I felt like it might just be the 8th wonder…read moreof the world. Went to the "Dirt Dauber" festival here which was a celebration of local pottery. Artists were set up everywhere, there were workshops/demos/contests, live music, pets and kiddos running around, hot dogs, and free beer (you were simply encouraged to purchase a vessel in which to pour it in). Everyone was ridiculously talented - and so friendly. The local community (san marcos I guess) is so supportive, but folks came out from all over in support. One highlight was they had the pottery wheels set up to play! SO. MUCH. FUN. (especially after beer) I totally want a wheel now, but it's easy to see it takes quite a bit of practice along with significantly more artistry than I possess. (Oh, and that scene from Ghost? Totally realistic because it's seriously erotic for some reason.) I am fortunate enough to be friends with the niece of the owners of the property (Beverley and Billy Ray rock!), and am unbelievably grateful for the opportunity to get a tour of the whole place. This includes their personal home which is a magical maze full of treasures. I have never seen so much art and sculpture and pottery and trinkets and souvenirs and momentos...the list goes on. It's a feast for the eyes. Everywhere you look there is something to explore. The house is divided up by season as well; for example, there is a "summer room" downstairs that has A/C, or the "Spring room" which has a handmade wooden murphy bed platform ON THE BALCONY that pulls down to sleep on. There is a fishtank for a wall by the tub indoors, or one could use the outdoor shower they crafted. They even have their own giant bar attached to the home. Walking around there is surreal; it makes you want an entirely different life. We also got to see a couple studios in which the owners (and visiting artists) work. So friggin cool. They do all sorts of workshops and also host celebrations/festivals/exhibitions of sorts (like the one I went to, or a salsa competition (the kind you eat ;). I encourage you to find any reason you can to get out there. The whole experience felt hippy dippy trippy to the max; by that I mean it didn't reek of patchouli or pot, but rather of a better place and time gone past where everyone was encouraged to be whoeverthefuck they want to be and express that however they wish (in dress, through art, or the way they live, who they love, and so on) and all were accepted, and appreciated. Good music, drank, and people all mashed up. Love.

The animals are very used to people, and will eat their food right out of your hand! It's a farm, it's dirty, the animals are dirty, so wear "ranch clothes" and go commune with nature. It's a business, and several of the young animals had been cleaned for an upcoming livestock show. Those animals had "jackets" on! LOL Lots of chickens and chicks around too. Our group got a fresh egg out of the coup! Many baby alpacas around, pregnant mamas segregated, and "visitors" quarantined until checked out. The staff was super knowledgeable, and super nice. The watermelon was sweet and delicious too. The shop has a great selection of jams, preserves, pickled items, and fresh produce from the farm. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They have a season for strawberries and blackberries. I believe all kinds of flowers which I never picked... i love everything edible... I am always there for the berries, the peaches which sadly this year they will not have any due to the freeze. And all of the fresh vegetables that you can buy inside the store. Those past 2 months you can find wild purslane growing and the owner was really really nice to let me pick as much as I want! I made pies with them. Absolutely delicious! I will keep on going back to this farm and I recommend it to anybody who likes to be out in the nature and it is perfect for families and specially kids!

One section said "not by the glass" so they presumed that meant not for the tasting. When we brought the slips up the employee said they could try the ones that said "not by the glass", my husband said "We aren't with that group" (sometimes they give large groups perks) and the employee said, "I'm old, not stupid." Which embarrassed me and the other person as the large party heard him. It took a very long time to get through the tasting and I honestly don't think my party finished, we were just ready to leave. We had ordered pretzels which we got as we were walking out!! They do give a military discount. With all the other distilleries, wineries, and tasting houses you should watch the sarcasm and/or attitudes. IMO

THE BLACK AND WHITE: We originally visited their main tasting room in Fredericksburg but glad that they have their wine room in Hye (closer to us as we're coming in from Austin). Coordinates focuses on South African wines however are sourcing more and more grapes from the Texas High Plains. We had a tasting of their Reserve red wines which included the pinotage, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and the shiraz. I'm a big pinot guy and the pinotage hit harder than the pinot, so we ordered a bottle of that and enjoyed it in their sit down area with a couple of other regulars. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a bottle of the reserve pinotage was ~$49 with a reserve red tastings (4 wines) starting at $25. Fun ambiance and will be back to try more South African wines.
