This park is a ton of fun. Built within the past 5 years, this park has everything. It has swings, mega slides, a spider web climber, and baby zones. It even has disability friendly options and party zones. I love taking my kids here to just run free. The only downfall I see is when some neighborhood teenagers come around and play aggressive tag games and curse. It is a place for smaller children and they are welcome, but bring inappropriate and unsafe behaviors. read more

it has the potential to be a fabulous park. there is so much to do at the park but the park needs to be cleaned up. The park is trashy. Bathrooms are gross. smells, no toilet paper, absolutely disgusting! trash cans smell and are not being emptied. trash all over the ground. Way too many dogs and the dogs are doing their business in the grass. i like dogs but people don't manage them. kids playing and cussing like crazy. this is a family oriented park & there are teens/middle school kids using awful language around young children. so unfortunate. I couldn't tell if these kids were unattended or were there with their families. read more

I promised my children a play date after we missed an event in Columbia. I asked my husband to look for a park nearby and we ended up here. The 1st park located on the property we visited was near a field and covered with turf. The Queen Bees were too friendly there & my baby son refused to play so we left. We then ended up at Laura's Place! What a GINORMOUS, gated park with an array of kiddie contraptions that all 3 of my children ages 8, 6, & 2 could swing on, jump on, slide down, & climb! It honestly reminded me of an amusement park. There was even an ice cream truck parked in front. My kids were occupied for hours! Definitely a Columbia gem. read more

We had gone on a couple visits to Blandair West & thought, 'what a cute quaint park with some variety in the playground equipment". We enjoyed the swings and mini slide with our one-year-old, and also took some time for ourselves using the fitness-based equipment. We had a pleasant time each visit. Then one day, while meeting up with a friend, we discovered there was a Blandair North- and wow- nothing wrong with the smaller West park location, but the North section is practically an amusement park- The North playground is broken into a variety of sections including staples like swings, jungle gyms, slides, and climbing areas- then some unique activities like music sections, a rocking pirate ship, and a massive three story slide spaceship section. We've been numerous days in a row and our daughter never gets bored- it's also a great place to interact with lots of other families. Bonus, when her grandparents where playing with her on the equipment we took a delightful 3mile run around the path circling North, West, and East park- So much to do. read more

Fantastic park to let your kids run wild at- figuratively not literally. There is so much to do for every age range. Some super popular spots like the swing get busy but there are other things to do while you wait. We've only had good experiences here. read more

This newly developed park is sort of high-school playing fields meet urban park, but is rather lacking compared to other county park offerings, unless you're doing the high-school sports circuit. The good: Extensive, modern athletic facilities. Decent restrooms. Easy access from 175, and traffic can exit without overloading the residential streets. There's some places to sit, a few places to picnic. The bad: Soooo much pavement. The parking lots are huge. The sidewalks are huge. For a "green space" there's not much green. Places to sit aren't spread out. There's no real paths around the park, just paths connecting to surrounding developments. There's nothing connecting around or behind the playing fields, no circuit INSIDE the park. Meaning you can't even take advantage of all that lighting to go for a walk or run in the park. Unless you like circling through parking lots. The ugly is rather ugly: Soooo much pavement. This used to be a large tract of relatively intact forest, and they cleared it without leaving even a stand of trees in the middle as a token gesture. But there's lots of access roads! This design ignores all the things we know about carbon management, natural ecosystems, watershed management, even the mental value of green spaces. It would have been disappointing in the late 1900s, but is an embarrassment in 2021. Unlike an urban park, there's not even a fountain, a garden, a token work of public art, or a central square (the road cuts through the middle). The nicest thing is a couple of fieldstone walls. Yay. Conclusion: The ugly is really ugly. Did the County not hire a landscape architect? Was it only high-school parents on the advisory committees? Blandair is sadly single-purpose and I can't imagine wanting to come back here. The single-purpose, over-developed facility can hardly be called a park. read more

The new North area playground and park opened up and it's huge and so nice! There's play area for all ages and have open field for soccer and bocca/bocce(sp?) ball area. The parking lot was packed on Memorial Day that people were parking on side of streets. It'll probably be this way during the weekend for a while but kids will play for hours. read more

My daughter has had a few soccer tournaments here and it's such a great park. The turf fields are all really nice and have stadium style seating. Plenty of parking and a nice playground area for smaller kids to stay occupied. Bathrooms were clean, it's a nice surprise to go to a soccer field and not have to use a porta potty. This park is so easy to get to right off the main road, I actually wish she had more soccer games here. read more

This park is awesome!!! There are paths to ride bikes, scooters or go for a walk. Fields for any sport. Bocce. The playgrounds are for all ages and have everything you can imagine and rubber flooring for safety. Very clean park. My favorite in Howard County hands down! read more

First time visiting this park and it's amazing! It's huge! Ample parking. Lots of signage and directories to know your way around the park. Tons of fields for games. We went for the playgrounds. I love how soft and cushy the ground is. Each playground is labeled for age appropriate children which is also nice. Everyone was very friendly and respectful. All of the parents were watching their children. The park felt safe. I did notice some litter but I know it's hard to keep track of running kids eating snacks. read more

Blandair Park is right up the road from us, and is such a beautiful addition to Columbia. It has multiple soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and I believe a football field, in addition to a super cool American Ninja Warrior type challenge course and a smaller playground with a huge, mini amusement park type mega playground on the way. There are several pavilions, paths, and it connects to the Howard County Trail System. There's ample parking, and it's confidently located right off of 175 and Oakland Mills Road. It never seems to be crowded, since a lot of people don't seem to know about it or instead go to Lake Elkhorn right down the road from it, but I like to switch up between local parks to add some diversity to my outdoor time. read more

A great park located conveniently near the center of Columbia. Daughter and niece here for a Saturday filled with fun. I have been to Blandair Park before and there are many different areas to it to entertain kids of all ages. The older part they have fields and a couple of playgrounds but this review is about the new addition that they recently added. This is for the gigantic kids play area. When I was a huge man this place was massive. Plenty of different activities from slide swings to things I have never seen before. My daughter and niece definitely enjoyed themselves. So much so that after we ate and got home right after bath and they were knocked out. I definitely would recommend this place for any parent with some kids that have a lot of energy. Can't wait to come back and let me down I have some more fun. read more

Blandair Park is more than a park, it is a vast entertainment / sports complex. Composed of two sides, East Area & West Area, there is something for everyone. The East Area consists of a Challenge Course, a covered pavilion, tennis courts, multiple multi-use recreational fields, batting cages, The Green (an artificial turf area) with benches, and interconnecting trails around and through the park. Stadium style seating is available to watch the games. Restrooms and a water fountain is available. There is plentiful parking to include handicapped/disabled. One connecting trail goes into the neighboring community encouraging use and participation. One of the trails connects to West Area. All of the trails are paved for easy use and accessibility to most. The West Area consists of a covered pavilion that is first come, first serve; great place for family and friends gatherings. Features in the West Area include: Del Frank S Turner Fields (multi-use recreational fields), playground areas, benches along the walk way, restrooms, and a water fountain. Paved trails run the perimeter of the park (leading into the adjoining community) and interconnect within the park. Bikes are available to rent. I appreciate that the environment was taken into consideration and care was incorporated into the design. There are recycle bins and eco-friendly, solar power is utilized in the park. The landscape is gorgeous and the nature is encompassing. Blandair Park is opened from Dusk to Dawn and may be locked at other times. read more

A great, clean, newer park tucked away in the Oakland Mills area of Columbia. Mainly for rec team sports games, but has a nice playground area, some picnic benches, open spaces, and rest rooms. Nowhere as large as Centennial Park and doesn't have lakes for fishing, large trees for shade, or bbq grills, but not usually crowded. We went in May 2020 for little picnic and the rest rooms were locked and the playground area roped off. Darn you COVID!!! But it was clean and had great parking. read more

This is a very nice park with multiple fields for baseball/softball and even has turf. There is ample parking here. I just wish it had a better walking trail. It goes through a residential area and I kind of followed the path and figured it out. But very clean trail and it is paved. read more

We took our kids to this park on a Saturday morning, there was a lacrosse game going on, so we had the option to watch. The obstacle course was so fun! The park was clean and there was plenty to do and see. This is a great park for kids of all ages. read more

Came to the park for a tournament had to unload my truck was running late parked crooked and the Park police hand me a $35 ticket. I would not suggest coming to this park the person who put the ticket on my truck didn't wear a mask .people were not wearing a mask running around but yet they're worried about parking crooked on a lot during the tournament Easter weekend it's Covid and these people are handing out tickets when there's 1000 open spots on cars parked a little crooked. I was just be very careful when you come here if they have no empathy for parking they have no empathy for COVID struggles .Parking lot officer Campbell is on gaurd so beware he is very serious about his job . Easter weekend ! We will never come back to this park for a tournament! read more

we've found our new favorite park! this park is HUGE and offers a bunch of different things for kids & families to do! the south side of the park has a play area for kids between 5-12 and a bunch of soccer feels for kids to play in, as well as teams. the north side has an amazing playground for kids of all ages with different activities for them to do. they have everything from slides, to jungle gyms, swings, and musical instruments! the best part about the northern side of the playground is that it's fenced in and child proof. definitely amazed with their safety measures! read more

I've held off on the review for about a year for fear that a review might only increase Blaindair Park's popularity. This place is jammed packed on weekends in Spring and Summer. Only a year old, the park grounds host a variety of brand new equipment and is absolutely beautiful and well-kept. For some awesome reason unbeknownst to me, there is no rental fee for the pavillion and I was able to host a fab birthday party for my three year old last year. Of course it's first-come, first-served and I thought I'd outwit any competition by arriving around 5am his party to begin at 2pm, however, someone was right behind me getting there 15 min later....sorry guys! Who knows what time people are arriving now to hold the fort?! The only downside is no park schedule available so our party was held during the same time of an all-star recretational pee-wee football jamboree that lasted just about all day, there had to be a few hundred people there but our party went on without a hitch and with plenty of assistance from park rangers. Three Beautiful turf fields, each with a grandstand and huge bleachers. Pavilion, nice bathrooms with hot water and plenty of parking. The fields are designed to provide spectator comfort and the smart fencing means balls don't fly out of bounds as much as they do at other fields. I would give it five stars if it had a concessions stand and/or player benches. Teams have to sit on the ground. read more
