It's a little distracting to play tennis there during peak times- there's a lot of activity between the planes, the highway, people smoking pot in the picnic areas, and once there were even kids on ATVs riding around loudly. Sometimes people blast music in the parking lot for absolutely no reason. For awhile there was a creepy old guy who lived in his truck in the parking lot and would make me super uncomfortable being there if alone, but he wasn't there the last two times I've been- maybe he has moved on. But overall, it is great that there is a place in the community for activities such as tennis and skating, and it seems to be well-maintained.

It's not a very long walking trail. It was good enough for what we wanted, just to get a good few laps in for exercise. At the time, the park was busy with people playing tennis and basketball. There were a few little league baseball practices going on as well. The parking is another story. If you do not get there at a decent time, you could end up parking along the side of the playing fields or in the grass outside of the park. Thankfully, we were able to get a parking spot. If you live in the area, it's a nice park to visit. Just be aware that after work hours during the week, parking could be an issue. On top of that, the park could get really crowded.

Because of the tall trees, you get plenty of shade while walking through the woods. I take my young children who can effortlessly conquer 3 miles of the trail without hesitation. It's an awesome nature experience hearing the birds chirp & insects buzz, seeing the small schools of fish being carried down the stream, the crawling creatures perfectly positioned for nature enthusiasts capturing photos. The park entry also allows you to use the open grass areas to picnic or grab a grill. The water is practically a beach area as I've seen multiple families lined up on both sides of the bridge enjoying the cool water. As well as my children and I. There's plenty of parking. The bridge is a highlight boasting wonderful opportunities for pictures with beautiful natural lighting. There's also some train tracks on the other side of the bridge perfect for photo ops but BEWARE! it is a functional and operating train track! My family and I can't get enough of this park. Definitely experience it for yourself.

But get out of the car, walk over the ridge, and behold! Picnic tables, a few in-ground charcoal grills, a tennis court, and park benches strategically placed along the path. The picnic tables are shaded nicely by the trees, but if you need to move one around a bit for some reason, you can because they are not chained down. There are also trash cans so you don't have to carry it out. A coworker told me the path goes around the border of the park but I haven't walked it yet. Soon though. There is also a small stage there and apparently they have live musical performances some times on the weekends. I'll be watching for those as well. Great place to take lunch to and eat outside away from the office!

Well the park itself is pretty big with plenty of open space for pretty much anything you could dream of doing. The playground area though it wasn't the biggest, it wasn't crowded and the equipment was in good shape. There is a huge water tower behind the park that provided a good deal of shade at the time I was at this park, which had 2 benches near the playground,and yes my daughter had a great time. When i went they were actually having a music in the park event. However i'm not much for country music, and it didn't really look like there was anyone there that may have been interested in some good old J.Cole, K Dot, or Yeezus. I wasn't trying Wang Chung that night... So i left that part to the natives. Overall this is a very nice park, and i'll definitely be coming back.

Unlike many other parks Lake Waterford typically has a ton of county park employees on-site. It really shows because they are usually out and about maintaining the park which is always litter free and beautifully landscaped. There are numerous trails and water views throughout the woods. Bottom Line: A small Anne Arundel County park with views of and a kayak/canoe launch into the…read moreMagothy River. As the name implies, once a farm, Spriggs Farm Park is now a small park bordering the Magothy River. The amenities are very simple and limited to a porta potty, one or two picnic tables and a small sandy beach with a kayak/canoe launch. The park is gated but visitors can contact the county if they would like to be able to drive in and park. Otherwise, there is some street parking. Once inside the gate it is a bumpy ride down a gravel road past the porta potty. Before too long you arrive at a place where you can turn off to park in a grassy lot. If you go to the end of the road you can unload your kayak/canoe but you will then need to move your car to the parking lot. As far as the kayak/canoe launch goes, from the drop off point it is about 150 yards to the sandy launch. There is a little bit of a steep hill down to the launch but it as been stabilized with some railroad ties for steps. For those not in search of a small boat launch the best part of the park is probably views of the river including Dobbins Island and Gibson Island. But be aware, there is very little shade at this park.

Had a grand time at Rocky Point yesterday with my boyfriend and our friend, Justin. It's off…read moreseason, so there's no one manning the entrance. But that also means there aren't any lifeguards or the services that you would find here during the summer months. Swim at your own risk. We weren't there for swimming, though it was 80 degrees and there were several people splashing around and having a good time. There was also a church baptism going on, which made my heart smile. There seemed to be many family and church members there to witness and celebrate, and I love seeing that kind of support and community. I also like the idea of feeling that close to God that you would take that step, to hopefully strengthen that bond. Ariel, the little mermaid, was also there, randomly, having a photo shoot. We wandered a bit, for about an hour. In the back of the park there's a crumbling path that we all decided was some Indiana Jones sh!t. There's some caution tape there, but it's just flapping in the shrubbery, not doing much good. Most of the park is quite wheelchair accessible, though several of the paved paths are so steep that I didn't venture down them. I could have, if I had been determined. I like that option. The playground is looking a little worse for wear. I didn't get close enough to take any pictures because the gnats are serious right now. But there were also some lovely butterflies. Those are always nice to see, especially with their populations dwindling. We've been checking out a lot of local parks these days, and this one is pretty decent. Gunpowder Park: Hammerman Area off Ebenezer Road is still our top rated park, though. I'd put Rocky Point third, after North Point State Park in Dundalk (that jetty!). Would recommend
