I wish I had more money and space to take it all. I spent an hour talking to him and looking at all the cool stuff he has for sell. If you LOVE Mexican decor, furniture, glassware, handpainted ceramic pottery, woodwork, metal work etc.; this is the place! The owner was amazing, kind, and so helpful. My sister was looking for her beautiful handmade wrought-iron bar stools to be reupholstered with leather and stitching, this place can do it; and had a barstool just like hers. I just didn't think to post here on Yelp years ago. Now owning a business we know how important it is. So my apologies to the nice family running Blanquel. With that said, we've bought two pieces of unique furniture from them. Our first was a beautiful Spanish style console that was in store. The second was a bed frame that was custom. Hand carved and the metal crafted to resemble a picture of an antique bed that no longer could be found. Our bedroom needed a redo after my moms passing in 2011 and I can't tell you how much this piece means coming from such creativity and heart put into it. ( yes, I know it's a quirky bedroom but everything about it makes me happy) Thank you Florencio for making a such a beautiful piece of furniture. read more

My husband and I were on a walk and just happened to go inside this store just to look around. The owner was very kind and let us in even though they were just to open. We were surprised to find beautiful pieces that went perfect with our current dishware! We left with margarita glasses, champagne flutes, cups, bowls, large serving dish, and shot glasses! My wife and I were hanging out at Bootleggers and decided to walk around before heading home. This place is eclectic; art, furniture, and funky Knick knacks. We found this beautiful carving but it was out of our price range. They agreed to have an exact one made on a smaller scale within our price range. They said to come back in a month. I returned 2 months later still no carving. They said they had to import it from Mexico. I came back 3 weeks later to pick it up. Let me say it was amazing. My wife and are extremely happy with our purchase. I would give them more stars but communication was a bit problematic. read more

Walking into this store is like walking into a workshop in another place in time. The furniture is all made by hand or refinished old-world Mexican style woodwork, made to look aged. Each piece is special and unique and can be made custom; accent pieces to add a touch of magic to any space. We had wood from a very old gate refashioned into a shelf! Goods and artwork are also brought in regularly from Guadalajara and different parts of Mexico; the stories for which are fascinating. Women in my family love the talavera-style ceramics that are all very reasonably priced; I love visiting regularly just to see what's new. read more
