I had made reservations (just in case), and I got there right on time but my friend was running late. I got seated towards the back by the friendly hostess but as I was waiting, I changed my mind and wanted to sit closer to the front where there was more light coming in from the front the windows. The hostess was very accommodating and moved the table without a problem. The food was delicious. As always, I try to keep it healthy and had the Sugar Snap Pea salad and my friend had the Burrata. The salad was fresh and crispy, with grilled chicken for extra protein. My friend said the Burrata could have been warmer in temperature, but it was still a good choice for her. The ambiance was also very pleasant, there weren't many people at the time we went and I think once the weather gets warmer, the front doors are able to be fully open and allow air in and provide a more al fresco dining experience.

The food is equally as incredible: the Truffle Monkey Bread is an absolute must and truly blew me away. The Rigatoni Vodka is solid, and we had to pair it with some sides. The Button Mushrooms are tasty, the Creamed Spinach was unlike any spinach I've had before and is a must if you're a blue cheese lover, and the Truffle Mac - one of the best Mac & Cheeses I've had in the city. The Chocolate Cream Pie and Strawberry Meringue desserts are tasty - I do wish they had the Sticky Toffee Pudding like they do at their Chicago sister restaurant, Trivoli Tavern. Where the place really sets itself apart from all the other local watering holes however charming they might be on their own right however, is the food. Its lives up to the original designation of a tavern as a place that places a priority on the cuisine, and indeed the offerings rise far far above the bar-food norm. This is the type of spot that not only serves one of the great, deeply satisfying under-the radar burgers, non nonsense but deeply meaty uniquely presented on a long hero-type roll, but also one of the best, and cheapest NY Strips in town and a killer prime rib special.
