I had stumbled upon The Smith a few years ago and with a friend, and I remember being a super hot day - we sat outside and just had a cocktail. This past week, I had a proper brunch with another friend at The Smith and it was a great experience. I had made reservations (just in case), and I got there right on time but my friend was running late. I got seated towards the back by the friendly hostess but as I was waiting, I changed my mind and wanted to sit closer to the front where there was more light coming in from the front the windows. The hostess was very accommodating and moved the table without a problem. The food was delicious. As always, I try to keep it healthy and had the Sugar Snap Pea salad and my friend had the Burrata. The salad was fresh and crispy, with grilled chicken for extra protein. My friend said the Burrata could have been warmer in temperature, but it was still a good choice for her. The ambiance was also very pleasant, there weren't many people at the time we went and I think once the weather gets warmer, the front doors are able to be fully open and allow air in and provide a more al fresco dining experience. read more

Everything we had at The Smith was delicious, and we would absolutely come back. The standout was the gnocchi with Chicken Milanese added for extra protein -- 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and easily my favorite dish of the meal. The sandwich was an 8/10, and the fries and sides were great as well. There were four of us there for Saturday brunch. If you want a quiet place to talk and eat, this is not the place for you. Brunch is my favorite meal, full stop, and especially sacred on a weekend, so I came here ready to go. Got the Smith eggs benedict and the Smith bloody mary, extra spicy, because I am fully a spice lord and I wanted them to actually hurt me a little. No hesitation from the staff on that request either, which I appreciate. When I ask for the spiciest version, I mean it, and they delivered so thoroughly that I regretted it, just slightly, one of the very few times that's actually happened. Everything tasted amazing, my date loved her food too, and the service was great throughout. Loved the location and the overall atmosphere. Even the downstairs bathroom situation was clean and spacious, which is genuinely rare to find in this city. Their French Dip sandwich in my opinion is the best in the city. Better than Hillstone. Its not a Corporate Version but with great tasty sliced steaks with grilled onions and comes with their own fresh tomato Ketchup and a mild mustard sauce ( of which I'm recently converted to, I had at first put on my own Arby's white sauce) and of course lots of au jus for dipping. The last time I was here was nearly/exactly 6 years ago. It was the last dinner out for a long time as it was just prior to the COVID shutdown. The Smith is a very reliable and a very good meal. I shared a burrata to start. Phenomenal. Toasted almond pesto is crazy. I split a Burger Royale and Brick Pressed Half Chicken. Both excellent. Don't sleep on the fries. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Total pro. It's a decent size room. So it gets a little loud but not a big deal. For better/worse we sat next to a large (sweet 16 vibey) party. But it was fine. One of my favorite restrooms. Kinda a communal situation. But the showstopper is the photo booth. read more

The smith is always consistent and has tons of seating making it easy to get a reservation. I enjoyed the kale and quinoa salad which was good and very filling. My friend has a gluten allergy and the staff was very accommodating and the manager even came over to assure her they were going to make sure it was GF. My friends and I were in the mood for brunch so we decided to check out the Smith. I have always seen their location in in the East Village for years but we decided to go to the Midtown location. I would recommend making a reservation in advance since they do get pretty busy. They are super spacious and great for big groups. We got seated right away and they have a pretty extensive brunch menu so you will definitely find something for everyone. We got the Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts to share which was really yummy - they were super pillowy and soft. I got the Benedict Johnny which was pretty good - the base of the dish being a biscuit threw me off a little bit but otherwise super filling and yummy. Overall a solid place for brunch - with a variety of cocktails and drink options as well. They also have a black and white vintage Photo Booth in the basement which is $5 and you get two stripes which is a pretty good deal! read more

We usually appetize with salmon tartare, chips and dip, the mac and cheese, and sometimes the calamari (the mac and cheese is delicious, blue cheese dip is great, skinny chips, the tartare's base is usually a bit dry but still good). I wouldn't do the oysters here. Tasty, wide range of brunch cocktails. Impressive matcha, good orange juice. My favorite item on the menu is the smoked salmon potato waffle, which I think is relatively new. Really good for brunch! This was my first time trying this chain though it's been on my list for a while. We were able to get seated as a group right away at around 1PM on a Sunday. This location has so much seating inside. I started with the Rose Sangria which was so delicious and fruity. It was a late amount too which I loved. I got the breakfast sandwich and loved it. I've been to the NoMad location and raved about their burger with bacon shallot jam, but this was my first time at the Midtown location, and my first time trying their weekend brunch. We started with cinnamon sugar doughnuts, served with hot fudge dipping sauce. These were gone in seconds! Thanksgiving dinner. A very pleasant, inviting, surprisingly large, space. Packed with Thanksgiving diners. A real candidate for 5 stars, if they'd just been able to execute. Offered bread, said yes. No bread arrived. Two reminders and bread finally arrived mid main course. Three sides for the table with every dinner. One was delivered. Again with the reminders and they finally showed when we were nearly finished with our main plates. Saving grace, all three, dressing, brussels, and cranberry were very good. They offered turkey breast sliced, legs done osso buco style, and thighs in pot pie. Very imaginative way to use whole birds. Some non turkey offerings as well. Breast was a bit dry. The leg was by far the best choice. I have trouble recommending given the weak execution. But we agreed the food and space were worth a future Thanksgiving revisit as an option.
