I first found them back in 2021 and have been going back at least twice a year ever since. I drive almost two hours from Celina just to go back to them because of the great work that they do. Whether it's your first tattoo, or your 50th, they are the absolute best! They are extremely welcoming and want to bring your idea to life! I've had artists do work who clearly didn't care about the idea I had and just took the booking to get the sale. My daughter said to email Sparrows and see what happens. I did and they responded same night and said Cody was down to tattoo me. I was super excited. The shop is amazing. The staff is super friendly and very attentive to all that come in. Cody did a fantastic job on my tattoo. I told him what I wanted and he amazed me with his vision and talent. The shop: It's nestled away in a medical complex in Mansfield, surrounded by chiropractors, pediatricians, and various other doctors offices. Not your typical shop next to a pizza joint or a condoms-to-go in a strip mall. Everything from the location, to the office itself feels clean, safe, and when walking through the doors, you know you're in for a top notch experience. This is a newer shop, but feels like home. They've done an amazing job decorating, and each artist has his/her own room to work in, as opposed to everyone being given a spot in a larger open room. It's quiet and gives the client the opportunity for discretion instead of taking clothing off in a room full of strangers. The artist: while I know that there are a few high quality artists that work at Dark Mark, I followed a specific artist there from a different tattoo shop. Cody Dresser is the best of the best. I have 12 tattoos, two of which have been done by him, and I will never go to another shop or another tattoo artist after his work. He is easily one of the best in the DFW metroplex. Everything (from his personality to his work as an artist) is of the highest quality. He makes each person walking through the door feel completely comfortable. During my first tattoo with him, he made a point to turn on my favorite show on Netflix (Supernatural) as a distraction, and sing Drake. My most recent tattoo from him (done yesterday) was an equally amazing experience. He turned on Game if Thrones and we talked about the show as we watched it. At no point did I feel like he was distracted by what was happening on TV, but felt like he was just a good friend who was as blown away as I was by the plot lines (and I just so happened to also be getting a tattoo). Four plus hours flew by with little to no pain, and I'm left with something amazing as a permanent reminder of my experience there. I can't say enough good things about Cody or about this shop.

Like many people, I thought I could just walk into a shop and ask, "How much is a sleeve?"--and quickly realized that's not how it works. A sleeve takes time, planning, patience, and commitment. My first point of contact at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale was Nick, and he was incredible in helping me plan, design, and kick off my sleeve with some major pieces. He was patient, collaborative, and made the process enjoyable. His linework is bold and crisp, and I genuinely appreciated the hours spent with him. From there, Nick introduced me to Lexi, CJ, and Lyandra, who each added meaningful pieces to my arm. Every one of them took the time to not only tattoo, but to connect through great conversations that made me feel like part of the family. To this day, I feel like I could stop by just to say hi--even without booking a session. That's how comfortable and welcomed they made me feel. While working on my sleeve, I came across an Instagram video by Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX (also known for his work at Elm Street Tattoo). His video showcased his incredible ability to tie tattoos together with creative gap fillers, making the whole arm flow beautifully. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make the trip to Texas to have him finish my sleeve. When I finally sat in Carlos's chair, it felt like we clicked instantly. He freehanded with a Sharpie, which made the planning and flow effortless, and he was both meticulous and insanely efficient. If you can handle the pain, he can accomplish a ton in a single session! He tied everything together with gap fillers and larger webs on my shoulder and elbow, and when we wrapped up, I realized he had put the perfect finishing touch on my sleeve. This journey has been deeply personal. My inner-arm soccer player was my first tattoo below the t-shirt line--visible to the world. For me, it symbolized finally being comfortable in my own skin at 40 years old, making decisions for myself instead of for others. Every artist along the way has contributed to that story, and their work is now permanently part of me. I recently saw a video of an older woman explaining why she got her first tattoo at 80 years old. She said, "When I was a kid, I got stickers for being good. I've been good my whole life--I want more stickers." That resonated with me. Tattoos are my stickers, my reminders that I've lived, grown, and celebrated who I am. We spent the first couple hours going over the design and Mani creating the stencil. The piece was detailed and colorful. Mani had such a gentle touch. The shop was clean and organized. Everyone in the shop (tattoo artists, tattoo artists in their appreciations, and customers) were all super nice, approachable, and respectful. I was able to book the appointment via email, which, as a Millenial, I prefer. However, they do have a shop phone as well. I booked in advance for Mani but it did seem like for smaller pieces, they had a couple walk-ins for other artists.
