I bought an ice-cream scoop kit that demands you build it a handle; made a handle for it out of some 25 year-aged osage orange I had sitting around. The kit broke in like 5 ways, so... I don't know, still a great place for wood working enthusiasts. Tools galore, they have so much to play with in there; honestly, first time in, and I spent more than an hour walking around and touching things. They also have a great email system set up, so sign up for that. The location is a little Narnia-esq, what with the lefts and the rights and the straights, and don't get me started on the parking. After searching for several weeks to find the perfect kitchen cabinets and countertops, we finally found what we were looking for at Menards. We showed up with a budget and measurements, but we were lost otherwise. Thankfully, the employees in the Kitchen Design Department were incredibly helpful. After about an hour we walked out with a complete kitchen design and a great plan for our new digs. This will be our spot for any further home renovations. Always frustrated when I go into other home improvement stores so I just drive 36 miles to go to Menards instead. They also have great daily internet buys that I purchase frequently. My wife laughs because I buy a lot of my clothes at Menards too, since I retired and don't need the suits and ties anymore!!

Needed a cubic yard of 3/4 rock for a DIY drainage project in our back yard (which equates to 50+ bags from a home improvement store, typically at least $2 each). We rented a truck from a nearby "Home" improvement store, drove to JCBM, paid for the rock and had the truck bed loaded in less than 10 minutes, and were on our way...thus saving ourselves about 30% (not to mention multiple trips to the store). We happen to only live a few miles away, but if we were any further away or needed more rock, it would have made economic sense to just pay for delivery based on crunching the numbers.

Terrible customer service! We spent around $15,000 on windows and doors. When we call the main office to talk to someone they continually refer us to our rude salesman! Would never buy anything from them again. Update: After one of their associates saw our reviews someone from Kansas City Building Supply called and ordered us our screen and said they have the openers at their facility. We are happy to get results, but it's too bad that we have to go through social media to get results.
