They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

He left ruts on both sides of our driveway and rolled over decorative rocks trying to manipulate his rig. He left his trailer blocking the road so neighbors couldn't get out, for multiple days. He sent us 1/16 of the amount then said, this is your fault, don't contact me again." If you want communication this is not your man. If you want someone to do exactly as you ask, this is not your guy. If you want to talk about how he draws conclusions this person will not communicate anything except your payment. Now. Full amount. With signed contract that he can then dissolve at his whim. You may be able to work with him but just know his ego is driving the bus.

When we started, the space was dry, overgrown, uneven, and felt very unfinished. There were areas of the property that we really weren't able to enjoy or use and we knew it needed a lot of work. They completely changed the look and feel of the yard. They cleared and cleaned up the old landscaping, prepared and graded the area, installed beautiful new sod, added crushed-rock pathways and surrounding areas and worked around the existing trees, rocks, and landscaping in a way that made everything feel much more intentional and cohesive. The curved edges, clean transitions, and overall layout made such a huge difference. It looks polished without feeling overdone, which was exactly what we wanted. What stood out just as much as the finished product was the level of care throughout the project. John was responsive, easy to communicate with and clearly wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. He was even willing to come back out after the work was finished to check on the lawn and make sure the new sod was doing well, which we really appreciated. That extra follow through says a lot. This was a substantial project, and the before and after difference is incredible. We now have a beautiful lawn for our kids to play on, cleaner and more usable areas around the property, and a yard that finally feels finished and enjoyable. Oh by the way if they say you need 20 plants or 16 pavers and they only use 5 of each, they keep the rest. It's in the contract! Oh did I mention that if they stated you need 15 plants and you need 20 they will sell you the other 5 from inventory left over from other jobs! Yes, paid twice for the same plant! By the way, the plants they bring only have a warranty if you buy their installed sprinkler system for an additional cost. On and on and on it went!
