His company was there for us when we first moved into our home a couple years ago and needed a massive maple removed that was growing over our house. And he was there for us again today when one of our sprinklers broke off along our driveway and leaked onto the road. I had called a random irrigation company and they said we would have to figure it out on our own as no company would come in a reasonable time frame for a broken sprinkler. I asked Heath and he was there within an hour, and fixed it in minutes. Big projects, tiny projects - this is a great company. read more

Sunrise did a great job with our irrigation and landscaping, however, in the process, they also broke our sewer line. This led to a $5,000 repair (Roto Rooter). When we contacted the owner (Heath) about the repair costs, he literally went into a profanity laden tirade as he felt Roto Rooter was overcharging us. To Heath's credit, he did speak with Roto Rooter and we were able to negotiate a lower repair cost. However, Heath never accepted responsibility for the sewer pipe. Instead, he suggested that we contact our insurance company for repair costs. He also suggested we inform our insurance that we "drove over" the sewer pipe and broke it. In other words, instead of helping us, Heath suggested we commit insurance fraud. So, all in all, not sure about Sunrise. We feel like the owner's business acumen and leadership are not the best. I hired Sunrise Landscaping to trim an old maple tree that is a feature in my landscape. Many other professionals recommended that I just take it down. Heath, the owner, was very knowledgeable and came up with a plan to save it for at least a few more years and did a very effective, almost surgical trimming of the tree. This is a bit late but I thought I'd share my experience as well to inform others (and further improve the company). I was looking to get our backyard landscaped last month. Heath contacted me immediately and sent someone over in a couple of days to give us an estimate. When that gentleman arrived at our house, and about 5-10 min into his work, he received a call and told the person on the line that he will be over in the next 10 minutes...thereby rushing his time with me. After quickly finishing his measurements, and providing what I found was poor consultation (and customer service), he said he will contact me in 3 days for the price and left. Well, day 3 came and we received no estimate. I contacted the company again to voice my concern, and same result--no email back nor calls. I have no quarrels with Heath but more so on the individual who did the consultation. If this person continues what he does then he will just harm the business' reputation. We had a large water leak in our line between the meter and our house. A locator had to come out to find it. We were losing approximately 1 1/2 gallons a minute. As soon as the locator showed us the approximate location, we knew that we needed to have a tree removed to be able to dig up and fix the leak. Sunrise Landscaping came out and did a great job! I thought that they were only going to remove the tree and locate the leak but to my surprise, they were also able to repair the line!! They did an awesome job and were very professional! The leak was about two feet down and two feet in under our driveway. Not an easy fix and they did it without cutting our concrete. I highly recommend Sunrise! read more

We hired Heath and his crew to remove four large trees that were hanging over our home and barn and were incredibly impressed with their work! The bid was very reasonable, and the crew showed up on time and were very professional. They were able to take down all of the large trees and place them over the fence without damaging any of our fences or structures. Sunrise arrived very early to tackle my issues with my yards, before the scheduled time. 2. They were very fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. 3. Was extremely impressed trimming plants, which made my yards 10 times nicer. The bad: 1. The receptionist had no record of a scheduled appointment for my yards, which left me feel unimportant. 2. Was mildly frustrated with having to reschedule, resulting the difficulty of working around my busy schedule. 3. A couple weeds were left alone, and made me do it myself. Sunrise was able to schedule first project that fit my schedule. The cost, with Angie's 10% discount, was approximately only $500 over what it would have cost me for the Mutual Material product and other materials. My original intent was to remove railroad ties and install new wall myself. Based on the professionalism of Felipe and his crew and the awesome results of the wall install, I asked Matt for a quote for sod and irrigation install. Matt was very flexible with that scheduling as I was dispatched to a wildland fire. Again, Felipe and crew did superior work with site preparation and sod / irrigation system install. Given the relatively minor scope for the projects and associated costs, I felt that my project was given the same amount of quality, attention to detail and professionalism that large projects demand. Finally, quoting a neighbor: "The crews worked like a well oiled machine - no wasted motion or idle time!" I totally, agree! This is the first and only review I have ever written about any product or service. I requested a bid on leveling and improving the grass in my backyard in anticipation of my daughter's upcoming wedding. Sunrise sent Brandon to review the site and provide a bid. His bid did not include all for the requested items. I had questions about the bid and was told by the office to contact Brandon for clarification. Although I tentatively set up a start date for Sunrise to perform some of the services bid, I wanted additional information about their expected work. For example, Sunrise bid more than $1600 to change out my existing controller box on my sprinkler system. I also wanted to learn more about the type of grass seed they intended to use, and whether they intended to apply any type of starter fertilizer to assist with its growth (it wasn't mentioned in the bid). Brandon's response was nothing short of bizarre. He repeatedly swore and expressed open hostility at having to answer any questions about the bid. Couple of examples: -Brandon complained that I had asked him to wear a mask when we met for a bid. He said the workers at his company don't wear masks and don't want to work for any one that asks them to wear a mask. -he was unable to provide any information on his bid for the sprinkler controller (e.g.,. what controller box they intended to use or how they arrived at their price - most top rated boxes cost less than $200, an 1/8th of the price quoted). In the end, through his swearing, Brandon offered only that these were "COVID times," that Sunrise had inflated all of its prices because of that, and, furthermore, he didn't have the time or interest in explaining his bid. He said I should call the owner if I wanted more information, but he was not going to provide it. -his bid included an estimate of 15 cubic yards of top soil to level out my yard. I asked if they only needed and used 10 cubic yards for the job whether the bid amount would be lowered accordingly. Brandon said "no," but not before he treated me to another rant about these being COVID times and the prices were fixed - "take it or leave it." Truthfully, I'm not sure I understand why Sunrise would artificially jack up its prices simply because there is a pandemic. Brandon assured me Sunrise had no shortage of work and there was no attempt to explain any corresponding increase in material or labor costs - Brandon made it sound like Sunrise increased its prices simply because it thought it could during the pandemic. Notably, Brandon was the person designated by Sunrise to serve as the project manager of any work done at my house (apparently the person who does the bid serves as the project manager). -Brandon had agreed to provide a bid for installation of a fountain in our backyard and was going to send me pictures of examples of some fountains Sunrise had installed in the past, but didn't. When I asked why he responded that he didn't "have time for that shit." That if I wanted a bid I needed to send him a picture of the fountain I wanted and he might then be able to supply a bid. Again, the response seemed odd because that is not what he said he would do when he came out to give a bid. I honestly have no idea why his attitude and responses were so openly hostile. When I asked him why he was so angry he complained about having to answer any questions about his bid and having to wear a mask when we met. Not for nothing, but after a period of dealing with significant health problems, my wife and I try to take the pretty simply step of wearing a mask to avoid contracting COVID-19. The same is required every place we go. I simply can't understand why or how anyone could find that practice objectionable, especially when they are trying to earn our business. One final note. I called Sunrise's office and left a message sharing my conversation with Brandon. I received a call from Heath, the owner, within a short very period of time of leaving my message. He asked for details regarding Brandon's statements. He expressed shock by both Brandon's statements and behavior, stressed that Brandon did not reflect the opinions or beliefs of his company (which Heath said had been around for 20 years), and apologized profusely on behalf of the company. He offered to take steps to right the problem, and to take immediate action with respect to Brandon. I had never spoken to Heath before, and he seemed sincere in his statements in that phone call. Nevertheless, I declined. Brandon's actions were just too far outside of anything in the area code of normal. I would only have myself to blame if I agreed to still go forward with Sunrise and then experienced the same type of horrible customer service with the next project manager assigned by Sunrise. Not a good risk for me. I truly hope Heath is true to his word and makes sure that others have a better experience with Sunrise than the one I was treated to. read more

A needed "haircut" was long overdue for our strong, but weather damaged trees. Our project manager, Steve, arrived on time and took a great deal of time discussing our concerns and assessing our mature trees' needs, leaving a very competitive quote for our consideration. Upon accepting Steve's estimate for the work, accomodating office staff placed us on the schedule only a few days out, which we appreciated so much! The professionalism of our project manager was mirrored in the punctuality and preparedness of the crew who arrived on time each day and worked respectfully with us and each other. The crew worked expertly and safely and worked patiently to cut and prune our gigantic trees into beautifully shaped smaller verions exactly to our liking. Our home and three other bordering properties were cleaned up nicely as the work commenced throughout each day. Care was taken to preserve shrubs and to avoid any fence damage. Called this company on September 9 to schedule an estimate. Gave them a specific timeframe when I would be home and the estimator showed up a half hour early so I wasn't here. Called him as soon as I got home and we discussed the 2 jobs that I needed to have done. He indicated that he would send me an estimate for both jobs. The appointment was on September 9; by September 18 I had not heard anything so I called the estimator and left a message on his phone asking about the status of the estimates. Again no response. As of today, October 17, I have never heard back from this company. Have since gone with another company who was more reliable. read more

They promptly visited my home so that I could discuss options relating to landscaping, trimming trees, etc. However, from my standpoint, it took way too long to get a quote back from them. It was right on target. The diagram we received the next day confirmed that Steve had completely captured our vision. The crew showed up on schedule and were professional and polite. They also worked incredibly hard. At each point in the process, the crew supervisor got confirmation that what they were doing was what we wanted. They finished in half the time we had expected and did not cut any corners in the process. They cleaned up before they left and that included blowing dust off of the neighbor's truck!! After all the work was done, we were concerned that one tree was not quite right for the spot. I contacted Steve and he said "no problem." I told him what we wanted and they exchanged the tree for us. I can't recommend Sunrise Landscaping strongly enough. I contacted them thru their on-line form requesting a quote for tree removal and hardscape design/install. They called and left me a message. I returned the message and scheduled an appointment for Friday, 4 Nov at 10:30am, an appointment for which I had to take off of work. On the morning of the appointment, I was called by the individual who was to perform the quote and told he was ill. We agreed to reschedule for Friday, 11 Nov at 10:30am. On that date when no one showed up by 1100, I contacted the office. They didn't know what was going on but had the same individual who was supposed to show up on 4 Nov call me. He complained that he couldn't move things around to make our scheduled appointment as apparently he had more important clients than me. He agreed to stop by on Saturday, 12 Nov. He didn't show. I get it. I'm a single family home owner with a small job that isn't going to net much profit. They have more important clients. But causing me to take two days off of work when you have no intention of making our scheduled appointment and then lying to me is just bad business. I may not be financially important to you but I can tell you that I'll certainly never advise my neighbors or friends to waste their time with you. read more

Finally an appointment was set up to look at the trees to remove on my property. I had a couple questions and wanted to talk to somebody about some details before the estimator came out. She was uncooperative thus I cancelled the appointment and left. At no time did I raise my voice, treat her with any disrespect or display anger. The owner called and asked why I cancelled. I relayed the above. He told me I needed to have an attitude adjustment! I went to another service, made an agreement and had the trees out within several days. Hopefully, I just caught her on a bad day. I sure don't understand why the owner didn't try to correct the situation and salvage the sale. Maybe he had a bad day too. Waited all day, never showed up so I called and spoke to a rude women who had answered the phone. She had told me it may take a few weeks to get a quote, which I was never told before. I was given they direct line to the person who does the quotes, so I called him twice and left a message. Still no reply to this day. I called Sunrise to get rid of some trees and shrubbery in the front of the house. These guys are outstanding! They showed up on time, and took out 3 trees and some shrubs and bushes in about 15 minutes. I can't see any leftover stumps, they cleaned everything up and were a pleasure to work with. About a week before I called the project manager. He said he was working but he knows I'm on the schedule. Great. Day comes for him to show up. Doesn't show up. Call again. He says they didn't have me on the schedule, but will be there tomorrow. I re-iterate several times that I will not be home until a certain time and he says it's okay. He texts me the next day that the crew can't find my house. Funny. You found my house to give me an estimate. I go ahead and describe how to get there. I am leaving to go home which takes me literally, at most, 45 minutes from where I was. They showed up. Did a fine job. In the backyard. Didn't touch the front yard. AT ALL. I texted the manager and he said they will be back that day. No one comes. Text again, they will be back the next day. I stay home so I can show them the quote, because guess what? They don't have it I. Their system so the poor guys who come have no idea what they're supposed to do. (Though, if you're a landscaping crew, one would expect the entire yard to be done...) They never show up. At this point, I'm tired of having to make all the effort in calling and texting and scheduling. Two weeks later, I email them. Never heard back. Now, I wake up and hear my neighbor's mowing their lawns and feel sad that I can't get this company to do what they advertise. Landscape. If you want to feel the worst customer service experience in the whole of Washington, you've come to the right place! After an initial round of communication that left me with a poor impression of both Heath the owner and whoever answers his phones, Heath did contact me a third time with a completely different attitude and was willing to provide what had been originally requested. Unfortunately for Sunrise, because of the initial problems, I was forced to contact another landscaping company and that company provided me with the estimates I originally went to Sunrise for. The other company had a better price and I had to choose to go with the other company. Since Sunrise came recommended to me, I would have used them without question, had there not been a communication issue, that resolved I gave them another chance, but as I said I had gone to someone else in the interim.
