Your hair is too long. If you call this place or go online to schedule an appointment, they will definitely use clippers and scissors and other tools to cut some of your hairs off, or at least make them shorter. They did this for me, and I'm sure they would probably do this for you too if you asked nicely. Then you pay them the money and some tip. And that, my friends, is how most haircuts work. I'd bet good money that they would also do some sweet styles and other cool stuff to your hair if you asked them to. The guy sitting next to me got an awesome fade, and I'm a little jealous. Maybe next time! I will say that everyone I met here on my visit was super nice and professional. I love the way the shop looks. My barber Jeb recently moved to this shop, and friends, he's still got the hands of a dexterous baby angel. They also take really good precautions against Covid-19. They wore masks and provided me with one, they keep good track of who comes in and out in case of an outbreak, and I also noticed that they were very good about disinfecting and cleaning from what I could see. Seriously though, definitely give this place a visit! I had a great experience and I'll absolutely be back! Stay safe out there everyone. read more

While I have never been to this salon, it has got to be the worst place EVER! I reached out to them in September 2017 inquiring about a wash and retwist for my locs. I called the salon twice and left a message with my contact info. I never heard back from anyone. I continued on my search for someone else, but obviously loc maintenance is not a thing in Eugene. Shocking! So out of desperation and not wanting to do it myself, I reached out to the "salon" again, via Facebook. This was on November 1, 2017. To my surprise someone actually responded rather quickly. The person apologized that nobody had returned my call previously, explaining that the stylist recently had a death in her family. So I go on to explain what I like and provide my availability. I never heard back from them. I just gave up and decided that this type of "professionalism" wasn't worth my time or money. Kind of sad when you think about it. This is the only "salon" in the Eugene area that advertises for African American hair care and locs. What a joke! I guess the only blessing was that they never returned my call. read more

I went on Oct 6, 2017. I've been looking for a place in Eugene that has affordable hair stylists and I came across this place. I got into contact with Mysha and she was willing to take me in on short notice. She also accommodated my schedule so I really appreciate it. What I got done was the crochet braids. The install took around 3.5 hours which was fine. She took her time and focused on the details. She was so gentle on my edges; other shops would have pulled and given me a face lift. The total cost was under 140 dollars including hair (my own) and the install. Now I have 4c natural hair and I usually keep it in an afro. One of the things that concerned me was the use of heat on my hair (even with heat protector). She had to completely blow dry it straight. I would have preferred no heat but I understand my hair is pretty hard to work with in its natural state. I do wish it was possible for me to skip the heat but to be honest my hair lays really nicely with it. Overall, the install looks amazing, its light and my scalp feels very good. Mysha was very professional as well. Any questions I had about my hair and her experience with black hair was answered. I'll be likely to come back in a couple of months. read more

I had half-back corn rows put in by Angela Clark early in June. I have only had these done to my non-ethnic hair a few times on tropical vacations, so I was a bit unsure of how they may turn out. Angela sat with me and discussed all of my questions and looked at numerous photos of styles. Once decided, she got to work, my braids were exactly what I wanted and I kept them in for 6 weeks with absolutely no issues. Blessings will get you right! I've been going here for years and they have always been really good to me. I moved out here from Virginia and it was really hard trying to find someone who can cut black hair out here but since I found blessings I been going here ever since. They got somebody for everything so whatever you need done they got you. Brian usually cuts my hair but James did my last fade and I was happy with how it came out. Blessings is a staple in Eugene. This is one of the only places that has welcomed the black community and knows what they're doing! -The owners are so kind and make you feel at home. They have made sure to always make me and my family feel included! -Brian has been my hair dresser since I was a kid and has even helped me learn how to do my own hair! He is SO good at what he does and is always a pleasure to be around! It's very important as a mixed child to learn the ins and outs of how to maintain your curly hair and he has taught me how to style my curls, straighten my hair, relax it, and cut it! -Mysha is one of the best Braiders/hair stylists I know! I received a text from ShaBria four hours before my appointment telling me that she had a lot "going on" and wanted to reschedule for tomorrow. I told her I couldn't reschedule and would have to cancel if she couldn't do it. Her reply was "that's fine" to which I had to ask "is the appointment cancelled or not?" No reply. I had to text again and ask her to explain what was happening. She cancelled. I called the salon and no one could cover for her to do a simple set of cornrows. NOT ONCE did anyone apologize for the inconvenience!!! How UNPROFESSIONAL to cancel 4 hours before the scheduled appt and by TEXT!!!! She couldn't even be bothered to check her spelling or grammar. The entire experience made me feel as if black "professionals" believe it is ok to act unprofessionally simply because white people are too afraid of being labeled racist to call them out on their bullshit. And Eugene is a very white town. I grew up here and have been to the Glamour and Rumors salons (which are the only other two "black" salons I know of) and was looking forward to having a better experience at Blessings. No such luck. This makes me want to go back to Rumors where the last time I had my hair braided it took almost ten hours cause the girl didn't know what the hell she was doing and I walked out looking and feeling like a ghetto crack-whore hoochie mama. I am black. I am not afraid of being called racist. And I HATE living in a town with three "multi ethnic" salons and not receiving quality service from any of them!! Because of this experience I give Blessings a NEGATIVE 5 STARS. I have a white friend who had an enjoyable experience at Blessings and that led me to give them a try despite my past horrors. I have spoken with two employees there and they were both extremely nice and very helpful, and I based my expectations on this encounter as well, despite the fact that I had to wait almost ten minutes for someone to acknowledge my presence and offer to help during my first visit. Blessings has lost a paying (and potentially loyal) customer today. With this heat wave happening I have been so excited all week to have my hair braided professionally!!! Yelp! Is only the first step in my making this story be known....and all because the only reason I received for the cancellation was too much going on and not even the slightest attempt for an apology. I have a good friend who went into blessings a couple weeks ago and I've never been so upset for anyone in my life. First off, this girl had so much hair, it was crazy when it was out. Now, she can't run her fingers through her hair without strands just falling out. Gobs of it. And when it's brushed, she has to clean it out the brush in seconds. The whole process took so long, and while she was there, the "stylist" and I would stress that word more if I could, went about cutting other people's hair during her appointment. I think that is such crap. When someone makes an appointment, they are paying you for your time. You don't take walk ins and make them sit around and wait. Especially since the end result is that the client that made an appointment got shit service and an even shittier outcome. I still can't believe that she was even willing to pay, and the she didn't even get a full refund. Such crap, crap, crap. This place needs to go, or an employee needs to be fired. I'm being gracious giving this place one star. It deserves -1000. Worst story of hair gone wrong I have ever been witness to. read more
