What a huge store for art supplies and more! I was not expecting the store to be so large when I walked into an unassuming door that went downstairs. It immediately opens up and you can see the entire store. They have sales for different things. Right now in December 2025 there are discounts on frames. How nice! There are paints of all types and colors, canvases or all shapes, and so much more! If you're an artist or want to be artsy it's worth a stop by! This Blick is probably my favorite location of the many I've been in over the years! The staff has always been amazing and very helpful, which is sometimes needed when searching for something specific in their large store. This Blick will typically have anything you could ever need for arts, crafts, decoration, framing, etc., and they stock a broad range of products, from the cost-effective to more higher-end products, so the store works for beginners and professionals alike. The open space has always allowed for a nice flow through the store, but that's been an added bonus during the pandemic. They've put directional arrows to keep everyone moving through the store somewhat orderly. It can be frustrating if you don't know what you'er looking for, but if you know what you're looking for and where to find it, the arrows aren't much of a pain. Absolutely no complaints! read more

Michael in custom framing is the absolute GOAT. I came in to have a few things framed with absolutely no knowledge of framing (or the associated costs), and was embarrassingly blindsided by the quote he gave me. I gave him a loose budget and instead of hassling me about it being so low, he patiently explained what was driving up the price and what we could do to lower it. We got it super close to my budget I left still feeling like I payed for a gorgeous premium product. If you, like me, know nothing about custom framing, a word of caution- Blick does not give quotes without an in person appointment, and had it not been a 50% off sale this week, our original plan for two diplomas framed with custom colored mats would've cost over $1000. So just know what you're getting into. Apparently the sale happens multiple times a year, so it's definitely worth waiting for. read more

I love this place! I needed supplies for this art project that I'm doing, so I searched online to see the closest store near my hotel. Thank goodness the Yelp app has a GPS locator otherwise; I would not have been able to find this business because it was challenging to find. The store is next to Lucky Strikes bowling alley, and it is in the basement. So If, you are searching for this place just look for Lucky Strikes. I love that the shop is well stocked and well organized. It is also very clean and spotless. I went to pick up some decoupage glue and a magnet sheet, so I could finish my project. I've been collecting my hotel key cards and wondering what I could do to recycle them, so I turned them into something cool and made refrigerator magnets. (See my photo for the finished product!) This Christmas I decided to have three 18x24 prints framed. I called ahead before stopping in and Sharon was incredibly helpful. While talking with her about my order she informed me that they were running a 50% off custom framing special and that Blick is dog friendly. I showed up one hour before closing time with my dog in tow. Sharon presented me with several choices based on my initial ideas. She was sensitive, thoughtful and cost-conscious. Within less than 4 days my frames were ready to be picked up. The store is huge and clean. While waiting for my frames I noticed some cute Japanese erasers (bakery sets, mini sushi, etc) and a wall full of handmade papers. I'd choose Blick over Utrecht any day! read more

So frustrating. I called this location two days ago to ask for a specific product and was told that they had plenty in stock. I asked if I could place some on hold (I needed a half dozen) and they said it wouldn't be necessary. Today I went in and they only had two in stock. I spoke with the manager about this and he (Brandon?) told me at first that this is a high volume store and they sell things quickly. I told him that's fine, but in that case, the person I spoke with, should have said yes, I should have them put on hold. The manager then told me that at this time of year, with them selling a lot of materials for back to school, they often don't put things on hold. I told him that the person I spoke with didn't mention that, that they simply said it wasn't necessary. I said they should've told me that and he suggested that they did. He also suggested that the person I spoke with might've had a very long line in front of them. In the end, I drove a half hour to come here on the assumption that they would have what the clerk told me they would have, and the manager saw no issue with this, spoke over me, and accepted no responsibility for the faulty information I was given two days ago. I prefer to shop locally when I can, but I won't be shopping at this Blick again. read more

Prepare for arrogant and rude staff. Treated rudely by one of the servicemen. When I criticized him about it, he turned it on me and asked me to leave. So much for customer service. I had come here to get a painting framed. When I got the painting back I noticed the painting had a crease, canvas wasn't stretched properly and the frame wasn't placed correctly. I have a sister who goes to art school in Chicago and is totally in love with Blick. So when I found out Philly was getting one, I was kind of excited (mostly for my boyfriend, who is an artist) because our Pearl totally sucks. I have yet to do any regular shopping at Blick because I'm the least creative person ever. But I did get a print custom framed here and it was a great experience. Katelyn spent almost an hour with Chad and I, pulling mat and frame samples. She helped us reduce the price with little tweaks here and there. It is a pretty large piece, so we definitely appreciated the effort. Even though it cost more than we're used to paying for frames (most of our are from Ikea), it was totally worth it. The result is absolutely beautiful, it is something we will cherish for years to come. The actual store has a warehouse feel to it, like most Pearl locations. It is in the basement so it is very cool even in the warm weather. Also, if you can establish a rapport with one of the employees, ask him/her about the requests they receive from customers. People ask for the most ridiculous things, like buckets of glitter and refills for the bedazzler. read more

I FRIGGEN ADORE BLICK! Its conveniently located only a few blocks from my school {the art institute} and contains many many more products than our school store, therefore proving to be VERY helpful. They carry all kinds of products, from paint to pastels, paper, clay, wire, paint pens, notebooks, all kinds of magazines and books, practically anything imaginable. Blick is definitely my preferred art supply store before AC Moore or the like, though they can be pricey for some items. All Blick employees have proved to be pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable of their products. I'm rarely in the market for art supplies despite being somewhat of an artist (digital guy), I've really slept on this place. For one, I didn't know it was this big. It used to be Woolworth some time ago. This one closed before the one on Market if I remember correctly. This is pretty much an art super store. I had a dilemma yesterday. I was on round 2 of trying to get something printed and I had been to most of the print shops in the area. For one reason or another, they couldn't do what I needed done. To my surprise, Blick is the store that would be king. It succeeded where all others failed. I worked in a print shop once upon a time, but that was 10 years ago. I take for granted that things have changed and that surely certain technologies are available just by imagination. To hear the other printers tell it, I was wrong. To hear Blick tell it, I dare to dream again. I knew it was out there and I just had to find it. I needed an illustrator file (.AI) printed in RGB on QUALITY paper in the very same day and for most stores it was near closing time. It cost me a bit, but I wanted what I wanted and needed it when I needed it. Ya dig? The staff was great... not the least bit indifferent or stand-offish. They're genuinely passionate about art. The store was surprisingly sterile. What more could I have asked for short of a La-z-boy and a complementary pumpkin chai? In about 30-40 minutes I had what I needed and I was on my way. I started not to even come in here. I was a few steps from giving up and going home because I had walked right by earlier. Ok... now if I was reading this review monologue style in front of an audience, I'd take a long pause right before this part. Check it out. I didn't even come in here for a print out! I really just needed a good picture frame. You better believe they had 'em and on sale too. It was news to me that they even did prints. When I found out that one of my favorite online art stores was getting a store in Philly, I came in on opening day last summer to check it out. Got my student discount card that same day, and haven't looked back since. Being more of a crafter, I do tend to get a little bit lost among some of the more popular "fancy schmancy arts" sections. (which isn't really a bad thing, I'm always finding random things that I can apply to SOMTHING that I want to make.) But the staff here is really friendly and helpful if you need to find something specific. For one reason or another, every time I ended up needing art supplies, I end up at Utrecht. The problem is from where I park in the city it's a bit of a trek, or at least it always feels like one. And while it's all well and good that they have art supplies, I always found myself wanting a bit more than they had to offer. I finally made my way over to Blick, and after a few moments eyeing the situation and a thought of a quick game of bowling, came to the conclusion that it's underground :) Blick shares an entrance with Lucky Strike bowling lanes FYI, so head in that door and take the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs a set of doors leads to the main room. Opening the doors a huge underground space greets the eye and a strict organization is present. To preface this story, I *hypothetically* came across a fire hydrant and aim to make it an end table as it did nothing in my backyard (oddly enough, my dog wanted nothing to do with it). As I've moved to a new place sans-yard, I found it a good idea to not leave too many loose ends with my projects. The strict organization is great....if you know what you're looking for. As I wouldn't call myself a physical artist [most of what I am able to do is with this very same keyboard], I was happy to be offered assistance from the staff. I described the situation and asked what exactly I'd need for the task. With a shared chuckle he directed me to the turpentine substitutes and some steel wool that was on sale. Avoiding a larger investment, I was happy to see they had about 4-5 different sizes of turpentine substitute so I grabbed a small bottle & the steel wool to give them a go. As I carried my purchase in hand to the counter, the clerk asked me if I had their store discount card. It is free for students & teachers but costs something small per year (~$10) for individuals. Flashing my Temple ID netted me a cool 50 cents and another card to stuff in wallet or on my keychain. Needless to say, when I began the process I quickly determined that the turpentine substitute was the right stuff but the steel wool was for chumps (and *finishing* projects) so I moseyed on over to the dollar store to get a grill scraper/brush to put a little work in (much better).
