I hope I'm writing this review for the right business!  Budget Blinds are a franchise so I can't be…read morequite sure.  We worked with John and Marla and maybe it was just luck but I'm grateful we found them. After getting a quote from The Shade Store, I wasn't quite sold.  Their initial quote for our shades seemed extremely overpriced for what we wanted and the lack of customer service was a huge turnoff.  After they came and made the measurements, I didn't hear back from them for over a week, even after I called. My husband and I bought a beautiful new home with tons of windows.  Luckily, most of the windows face our courtyard and not the front nor back of the house, which allow us incredible amounts of light but with much desired privacy.  We can walk around butt naked in the middle of the day without scaring people.  After moving from downtown LA, living in a loft, the light was a welcome change.  Even tho we want to keep our home light and airy, we still need to block the sunlight at times in the bedrooms and media room.  We didn't want anything ornate nor technical.  I wanted the shades to look seamless with the white walls.  Almost unnoticeable.  The Shade Store kept pushing us for valances which I hate.  They remind me of grandma's house.  I also only wanted blackouts in the guest room and media room.  I wanted to keep our office and master bedroom open and full of light.  What I'm trying to say is, what I desired wasn't about the cost but more about what I wanted.  And what I want is simplicity.  Marla and John from Budget Blinds actually listened to and came through with what we wanted.  Not only did they come under 1000 bucks less (actually more than that) than Shade Store, the shades we chose are of much higher quality.  After the installation, I can not be happier.  Also, as I'm sure everyone has noticed during these crazy covid times,  any purchase take forever to get.  Weeks, if not months.  Our timeline was about 3 to 4 weeks for delivery and installation and here we are 2 weeks later, DONE!John and Marla are just lovely people to work with.  Kind and honest.  They truly want their clients to be happy and satisfied, and we most certainly are. Ok... just found out that Marla and John are the new owners of this location so you should take that into consideration when reading older reviews.

They sent out two people to meet with us, a saleslady & a service writer. The saleslady was friendly, detail oriented, & professional. I enjoyed our interaction with her. She walked us through the process and even helped us pick out a paint color for the custom shutters. She also provided a quote electronically before she left. I was pleased with the pricing and the quick turnaround time. The shade repair service writer, arrived separately, looked at the shade in question. He was there five minutes, visually looked at it and said he would need to order a new shade and get back to us. He then started to swiftly leave. He took no pictures, wrote nothing down, nor asked us to sign anything. My partner & I confronted him & asked if he needed any info from us for the order & repair. He said no he'd take care of it. We should not have let him leave. Our saleslady reached out to us a week later directly asking about proceeding with the shutters. My partner & I agreed we would not commit to the shutters until the shade was fixed. One month later, we never received a follow up phone call or email regarding the shade. My partner called to ask the status of the shade replacement. THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ANYTHING other than the service appointment. No follow up notes, no purchase order, nothing! My partner asked the name of the service writer, and the lady had difficulty finding it. They seemed extremely disorganized and frazzled. When she finally found the name, she indicated "he has a full plate this week and is out on service repairs all week." Her solution was to offer to call him and get back to us by the following week. I don't know where they come from, but that seemed like a way to make us go away. My partner kindly advised if no record of the issue on our ticket was made post consultation, and no replacement part was ordered one month after the five minute visit there's no reason for us to even be remotely interested in going forward with anything. There was a long pause, my partner said, "hello" The lady said "okay then" then hanged up. Stay away from this company. I must echo these other negative reviews on customer service and follow through is awful.

We had regular faux wood blinds on both windows prior, but were never fully satisfied with them. They didn't cover the full window, but they were the best we could afford at the time. After perusing reviews on Yelp we decided to give JR a call and he came out to the house. We were a little surprised that he only had one sample to show us. He only uses the Norman Blinds, and they don't have the traditional vertical bar that enables opening and closing. We really liked JR, though, and decided to go with the Norman Blinds, even though they were a little different from what we had been expecting. One cool thing about the Normans is that you can close the bottom 1/3rd portion of the blinds while leaving the top open, which is nice when you want some light but don't want people outside to see in. We also have two very skinny windows which border the sides of our front door. Very creepy to have people look in the windows at you (and they do!). We ended up ordering shutters for those as well. It took a couple months for the blinds to come in, but the guys who came to install them did a fantastic job. They even wore foot booties so as not to dirty my white carpet. They were very nice and respectful. Once up, the shutters looked awesome. We love them. I love being able to close them tightly at night and love how dark the bedroom stays in the mornings. It actually is much nicer *not* having a vertical bar running up the blinds that obstructs our view. I plan to eventually have some of our other windows done as well, as soon as it's in the budget. Our experience with JR and Classic Shutters was a very good one.
